No she was 13. She is Tatiana Lyssenko. She was always tiny and had poofy hair which made her look younger.

lyssenko was actually 15 here...she was 17 in barcelona...:-)

That was back in the day when all the gymnasts were tiny. Lyssenko didn't look so small compared to a lot of the others who were around then.

Gymnasts are taller and more muscular these days.

I read it was because she was inconsistant at times. But from the videos of her that I've seen, she was really good.

That Russian Federation is just so unfair. Selecting

its members by the way they train, instead of choosing

the team members through a competition. The Chinese

Federation does the same thing! Do you know if she represented the Netherlands in the Olympics?

Groshkova moved to Holland, but couldn't get citizenship, so she couldn't compete for them internationally.

And I don't think you can say Russia or China is being unfair on how they pick team members. The USA does a similar thing. For the last Olympics only the top 2 atheletes get picked out of 1-2 at Nationals and Olympic Trials, and everyone else gets picked out of the training camp.
