You need to educate yourself. Both areas were hit completely differently by the storm. New Orleans is an urban area. Coastal Mississippi is not. New Orleans was underwater, Mississippi was barreled over by storm surge. Totally different. Another point - the lower ninth ward had the highest home ownership rate in the entire country. Working poor - no too lazy. Don't parrot your radio hosts - try to think and do your homework.

Boy, you have no clue about hurricanes or what really happened, do you? Mississippi got a lot more FEMA aid than Louisiana because of the Republican Governor there. Then Louisiana was hit by Rita, a full force Cat 5 storm two weeks after Katrina, meaning the entire southern half of the state was close to destroyed. And a big city that stays under water for two weeks is a different problem than surge that goes back out. Get a clue!

No, let them die IF we can't schedule a floor session in the House and Senate and establish a filibuster-proof majority to exceed the PAYGO limits and permit spending on the relevant emergency and then enact the appropriate taxing measures and then schedule the needed appropriations to handle the emergency, while cutting spending elsewhere in the federal budget to offset some if not all the costs of the emergency. If you can't do that, then yeah, let them die.
