  • Gotta love the color combos of the 80's :D

  • I bet the chap on the right really regrets the pink trousers and moustache combination! :D

  • Great tune, super confident performance and pitch perfect vocals from start to finish........a big improvement on their Song For Europe performance which won them their place in Israel for the 1980 contest.

  • Im from the UK and it still surprises me how this song managed to end up 3rd!

  • I've never understood why I like this song, it's actually so boring and repetitive... but I love it! and I agree with Abzniz, the mustached guy is so 80's gay!!!

  • @fenantre The guy with the moustache is Lane Aston (brother of Jay from Busks Fizz). He's now married to Marcella Detroit (Shakespeare's Sister) & they live in the States

  • They are a clone of Guys n Dolls - right down to Sally Ann looking just like Martine Howard. Although I don't see a David Van Day/Therese Bazar looky-likey pair. Which is a relief.

  • Relax. I didn't imply any judgment in my comment.

It was known in gay circles as "the clone look."

  • The guy with the moustache is so early 80's gay.

  • Jesus....can´t believe in that....

  • you dont have the x factor LOL

  • Its like some bizarre audition process for Rod, Jayne and Freddie the movie!

  • I must have spent a minute and a half laughing at that one. Google the words "Rainbow Banned Episode 1979" and watch - I guarantee you won't regret it

  • I certainly did'nt regret it. The video was fantasticallt humourous

  • @pimmagrimm - "Coming soon to a cinema near you"

  • Is she Sally Ann Triplet? Please, someone answear... And... Are you really talking about that unbeleable "Bad old days"? One one my favourite songs...

  • Yes dosinfartos - she is the phenomena known as Sally Ann Triplet ! Had a bit of a thing for her when I was a young(er) man.

I quite liked this song at the time and still do now (29 years later) so if nothing else it has stood the test of time. I believe they came a respectable third placewith it. Well done all.

  • Wait a minute, do I see one of the YMCA gang in the background, the gay boy with the moustache. Should they have been singing In The Navy?

  • Danny Finn, that is some perm you have on your head.

  • The lead singer is the hubbie of Eve Graham of the New Seekers. I have never heard him before and am pleasantly surprised. Nice looking bloke...

  • This is just unbelieveably.........cheesy. I know its eurovision but jesus theres a limit surely? And it came 3rd!!!!!!

  • That's exactly what I was thinking when I heard this: soooo cheesy! How could it possibly have got as high as 3rd place?!

BTW: The comments about the group looking like a Christian Youth Group, or the song sounding like a wholesome McDonald's advert really made me laugh. :-)

  • is Pippin, lord of the rings. Jajajaja wonderful song

  • The song is quite nice. Brotherhood of Man obviously inspired some of the choreography.

  • This clip makes me laugh every time I see it. The lead singer looks EXACTLY like Billy Boyd ("Pippin" from the Lord Of The Rings films)!

  • I'm just loving the pink and turquoise slacks. Before Scooch, this was definitely the UK's campest entry.

  • I can't believe that this got 3rd in such a strong year. Yet another evidence that some Eurovision jury members are twenty years too late in the musical taste department. This reminds me of Archie and the gang. :S

  • anything writen by stephanie de sykes is strong in my book

  • I can't really believe that this is written by the same woman who wrote the fantastic "Bad old days"!

  • neither can i.

  • This is annoyingly likeable!

  • bu renk uyumu mukemmel t-shirtllüler arasında ajdanın kaybolması normal:) aman allahım aşk böcükleri:)

  • This was one of the last years that the UK had a nice song in the ESC. One of my favourites from 1980.

  • They hadn't finished with good entries yet! They brought a great song in 1994, and also a rather good one in '89 along with other years.

  • pumagutten

"This was one of the last years that the UK had a nice song in the ESC"

    check out 2002 2004 2008?

  • Jane Robbins rocks.

  • I even bought the single at the time! Haha! In my defense, I was 12 years old at the time.

I think the Robbins sisters are related to Paul McCartney. Cousins or something? Aren't they?

  • Very, very poor...

  • more evidence that the brits are eons ahead of us yanks in the music department(but sorry, chaps- i still like to brush daily).

  • this stinks! This is the Eurovision Song Contest & doesnt reflect CONTEMPORARY TASTES. The UK is still the main music country in the World & this contest doesnt reflect this cause its a pretty bad contest.

  • The Eurovision Song Contest is THE BEST!!!!

  • its bad at delivering talent - that is!

  • The chorus sounds like an advert for McDonald's "if there's a place in your heart etc". More cheese than ST Ivel.

  • This is soooo wrong but i cant turn my head away!

  • Een klefferig "feel good" suikerspin liedje. Toch erg gezellig klinkend, in close harmony.

Laat de jeugd van tegenwoordig ook zo eens met elkaar omgaan, schouder aan schouder, elkaar beminnend!

  • Jay astons(bucks fizz) brother is the guy with the tash!

  • No, the moustached one is Alan Coates.

  • He looks as if he was lifted from the old Third Division!!

  • They sound and look like the Christian youth group I was dragged along to on Friday nights back in 1980... What an atrocious song and performance. I love it!!

  • I recognise all the girls, Slly Anne Triplett, later Bardo (later still Acorn Antiques the musical) and two if the Robbins Sisters Kate and Jane? who appear on telly from time to time (another Victoria Wood connection they were in her Christmas special Anne Widdicom song). Not a bad song, oddly better than I remember at the time.

  • Love everything about it!! So eurovision :P hehe

  • CRINGE! Hate it. Hate it hate it hate it HATE IT. Can't beleive it came thrid :o

  • I thought the venue looked familiar, and I've just found out it's the same place where Brotherhood of Man won Eurovision in 1976. I hadn't heard this song before. This song's not bad- I'm glad it did well 'cos at the time everyone in the U.K. hated it- serve them right when it came third!

  • Love the costumes !
