first off i love the bike i have a 61 sportster ironhead chopper with extended girder front end. now a question for you or anyone who has a bike like this. does your bike ever kick back at you? mine sometimes will kick back and if i started it the way you do it would send me through the roof. i have to put one leg on each side and jump up and then fall on the kicker while keeping a limp knee. any one have the same problem?
sounds like your timeing out, if your timeing is not retard when starting it will kick back. i have a 67 & 75 ironheads both kickers, the odd time mine kick back it useally happens when i give it to much fuel when starting then ihave to kick it out then it will kick back & cough threw the carb
@Dusters7090 swap out your points for a electric ignition....make sure you have no air leaks on O rings for Carb intake to cyl. ....timing is super important on these old ironheads...mine took me 2 years to figure out..side note if it is coughing back while riding check pipes make sure they are tight...
5 ★'s foe sure. Rigid frame looks awesome. CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. Those 60's & 70's XL'S make some of the best choppas (NO messy twisted pushrods or a ANEMIC camshaft).
