First, thank you, Mr. Abrams, for your great videos. Now, I have read that damascus steel is harder to hone and strop, though it'll keep its edge a lot longer. Any recommendations for that particular kind of steel? How do you feel about this type of razor?

Hello Mr. Abrams, excellent information in your series of videos; thank you! Just purchased a Dovo 6/8 Bismarck straight razor. Between yourself and Geofatboy, I've been learning the fine skill of shaving with a straight razor. Honing stones range from 4000 to 30 000 grit from what I've seen out there. What type of hone do you use. I think this would help in my search for quality products.

Instead of having to use a 4000/8000 grit stone every six months or so can you just use the cheaper barber hone a little more often?
