The commercial is referring to the sheer number of (private team) people that use Mazda cars in sanctioned racing events, specifically, the Miata MX-5. The 911 GT3 is used in a lot of different races, but it doesn't quite match that of those people that race Mazda cars. More people can afford a Miata before they can afford a 911 to abuse on a track.
Because these commercials are typically played during televised motorsports events ('cept Nascar) where automotive enthusiasts might actually take such facts into consideration when purchasing a new vehicle.
I didn't think it was that funny! Haha. But seriously, does anybody know if they are to show mazda's support for cancer or something? they are very obvious, and who uses pink jack stands anyways?
I love mazdas and they have some amazing race cars and I agree that more people race mazdas than anyother cars (just check out local autocross events for example), but i don't agree with the saying "Start out with the best street cars, end up with the best race cars". I think that its better to have racing heritage before you build street cars, Ferrari is an example, that way you can take race engineering and tune it for the street.
I agree with that. I have to admit that even though Ford and Mazda have their shares at 30%, it's great that Mazda continues to remain more of a "Boutique" import car company...rather than trying to dominate the entire auto-market like Toyota or Honda. I believe that smaller companies, such as Mazda, have so much more to offer. Not to hate on the large companies though, my first car was a toyota.
The most popular Mazda is the miata because of its great success in autocross and road course racing. The rx7 and rx8 i haven't followed very much but I know the rx8 received great handling reviews and the rx7 has been popular with drag racing and road course as well.
Yeah I think it's the miata that set it on the map although I don't quite follow what made it a choice for road racing? Is it the price? power to weight or?
It's the power/weight. You'd be hard pressed to name another street legal car with so much chassis engineering and "race driven engineering" put into it.
Mazda 5. :)

not creative. not unique. highly predictable. why would someone buy a Mazda after seeing this road race commercial?
jkhall1948 2 years ago
Because these commercials are typically played during televised motorsports events ('cept Nascar) where automotive enthusiasts might actually take such facts into consideration when purchasing a new vehicle.
Or just because Mazdas are well engineered cars.
