  • What happened to songs like these?

  • Bring back the true Rythm& blues

  • My father made me a cassette, with songs he wanted me to hear -since he is dying. This was the song that opened it up. I began to cry, since some of this song correlates to my fathers life as he grew up. He lived extremely poor in Texas picking cotton by the age 5 with his 7 other siblings, and not seeing the inside of classroom til he turned 12. I think of his hardships, an abusive father etc... And then to see how he raised my brother and myself - I'm proud of him.

    Go easy Dad, go easy.

  • @darlingofmisery thats very touching I myself am proud of him a hard life then to raise a smart person :) its a great song reminds me of my step dad a lot...

  • @darlingofmisery this hit the same cord in my heart.

  • no doubt. definitely a bad ass song. heard this on a local radio station recently, am liking them a lot more at the moment! :)

  • My dad died 4 years ago and I thought of this song as I heard it years before his passing and it echoed in my mind after his wake. It's a great song and I think it hits home for us all.

  • Think of my kids when I hear this, they just lost their father much too early, just 3 months ago. They love this song, I know they will hear "my Daddy's voice" for the rest of their lives! Thanks, Clarence.
