The Mac vs PC battle? Since 2006 Apple have been using chipsets and processors from Intel, so macs are now just PCs in a shinier, more expensive case.

So it must be the software right? Maybe, but there's nothing in the Mac OS that a good Linux distro can't do, and PC cases look better and better, especially if you custom-build.

Apple can't trade on it's old 'stability and style' anymore. There's no excuse for an overpriced PC, no matter how shiny.

The place I worked at in 1999 spent tens of thousands on Y2K hassles for its primitive, date-dumb PeeCees. My dept. was all Mac (120+), total cost, $0. Why throw money away?

There were no Y2K hassles, there were some minor adjustments to some computers. Also every time I've usd a Mac it's frozen up far more than a P.C., also a doctors office I used to go to had Macs and they kept freezing up on them too. Macs are just colorful toys.

Well, at that same place, it took one PC guy per every 20 PeeCees, whereas I handled 120+ Mac by myself. There was that much difference in support overhead due to the constant PeeCee problems. The PeeCee guys could never understand how I did it. Simple: Macs are more reliable. Also they were the low bidder - so much for them costing more.

PeeCees are high-maintenance junk.

millions of computesr did not crash, the y2k thing was an urban legend. Besides Macs crash all the time too. In fact most Macs I've needed to use didn't function as well as a pc. Mac is for people who want to come off as pompus and arrogant, it's a status symbol computer for arrogant young unemployed college students whoes parents work on PCs at their real job :)
