What an excellent record. Thank you for sharing it. The tram operation is much the same today, although they have built some new "baladeuses" (tram trailers) to the old design. Note that the last motor car leaves the village without trailers. When the cavalcade of trams and trailers gets to the entrance of the caves, the motor cars are uncoupled from their trailers and each set of trailers is then coupled to the motor car "behind" them (i.e. at the village end), for the return.

On seeing the photos on some websites I thought that there might be some new passenger trailers.
Yes, the last motor car is needed for when the trains change direction of travel.
