  • lol my health was maxed with magus ,chrono ,and robo when i beat the game

  • Wait... Lol InfiniBox was my old account and its the top comment lol

  • I just always used Crono, Ayla, and Magus for this final boss

    spam techs like mad

  • o chefe mais forte de todos os tempos

  • Even harder than Final Fantasys end boss Kefka.

  • Beat this boss today for the first time. Was way easier than I thought it would be. Level 49-51 with Magus, Crono and Robo. Magus did die once but other than that it wasn't even close to failure. The "best" item I had to use was full ether and elixir. Noting better than that.

So the challenge was a tad on the disappointing side to say the least. Awesome game though.

  • @Schwartzdying I hate 98% of jrpg's so I'm no good at them. ~.~

  • I can't beat this boss... -_- I can beat Contra, R-Type, and DoDonPachi without dying but, I can't finish a stupid little RPG...

  • @TronPachioftheDynamo Noob. :)

  • MAKE YOUR MIND MUSIC LEFT OR RIGHT SPEAKER!

  • 1:34......What is this Scream?

Other than that amazing Final Boss

  • @LargeFG7777 I'm pretty sure that scream is merely part of the soundtrack. Just something else Square put in this fight to add to it's uniqueness.

  • Lavos is not that hard. If you did the side quests, he should be a piece of cake [rainbow sword etc.]. Even without that you can beat him.

  • 8:26 whaaaaaaaaat

    *SPOILARZ*

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how Lavos ended up in the DBT to fuse with Schala

  • I use the same party

  • Most epic boss fight music that generation for square

  • this is what i think, i think you should use Crono,Marle, and Frog in the final battle cause Marle could heal your team and, Crono and Frog would kick Lavos ass!

  • In my case, use Crono, Marle, and Lucca for final battle. For me:

Grand stone is most danger skill. especially for Marle&Lucca, but it may damage Ayla most less .

dreamless ,it damage Marle&Lucca most less but damage Crono more much(about 450)

  • this scared the living daylights out of me as a child

  • Crono, Ayla, and Frog is so beefy. I believe I beat the game with that combo way back on the original cart.

  • i use Crono, Lucca and Marle. take down the little nugget on the left with attacks and then simply blast the other two bits with antipode 3 [lucca and marle] and luminaire with crono.....it's the quickest way and you get hit less than with any other method i've found. Antipode 3 takes 3800 off the middle and right bits every time

  • heh, when i fighted lavos for first time i had someone with the counter attack ring and when he used the time warp he attacked him :D

  • I beat this game in 5 days when it came out for the DS. Lavos was ridiculously hard though. My characters were no higher than level 60 range. When I tried the New Game Plus mode Lavos was impossible to beat at that level. Bottom line either Hire someone to grind your characters to whatever the level cap in that game is and keep all your elixers for when it drains your mp or spend hours leveling them yourself. Whatever you do keep those mp items for that fight. Also dont procrastinate on healing.

  • @AdathorRules If you were in that level around 60, Lavos would be a joke. Besides, I pack plenty of Megalixirs to make sure I survive the long haul.

  • @MegamanNG no kidding, ibeat the game around lvl 40 or 40 some on the SNES and DS, its not hard if you know what to do lol

  • @MegamanNG 30* damn typos

  • @AdathorRules WUTTTTT I beat Lavos first time with level 43ish characters, and in the new game+ mode it only took a couple of tries to beat him with just Chrono. So... learn to spam luminaire more. Level 60 is excessive.

  • @AdathorRules if your character are above lvl 40 or so, Lavos isnt that hard, for his final form you need 1 or both of 2 things: the 2 items that grant Barrier/M. Barrier OR Lucca and Magus since they each have Magic abities that, combined, do that, if you have those 2 status buffs on each character, hi final form is really easy since his Grand Stone/Dreamless attacks wont 1-hit-KO your party, itll do about half of 999 HP in damage but thats still livable, if you know what do Lavos is EASY

  • my team is always Crono Magus and Frog(Glenn) i think its the best team.

  • Is it quaint to beat Lavos with Ayla, Marle, and Frog, barely use any techs or recovery items, and just spend a majority of my turns mugging Lavos to death with ordinary attacks? When I look at the way other people play, they always seem to use techs a LOT.

  • @217Gnomes Can't be done.

  • @MegamanNG Oops, I understated the part about "barely" using techs. I throw around plenty of cat attacks and leap slashes and only using healing double techs. By barely, I meant using very little tech variety. Sorry about that misleading phrase.

  • My prefered party happened to have been Lucca,Robo and Magus just got Omega Flare

  • Epicness! 10/10

  • how do you even reach lavos? ive become stuck after the end of time

  • Frog + Ayla + Chrono is my preferred end game party as well :D

  • in the year 2012, mt. everest explodes to pieces and red sparks fly in the air ..

    HERE'S LAVOS !

  • MegamanNG owns!

  • @PSXdude45 Big time.

  • @MegamanNG Hell yeah. lol

  • @MegamanNG Haha you do! But do it like a man! Chrono Only fight! TO THE DEATH!

  • They should make a 3D remake of this game!

  • Ayla rocks.

  • If I had a time machine I'd totally pnw lavos

  • OMFG ultra qualitty sprites! 6:57

  • is it just me, or is this one of the scariest video game characters of all time? kudos to squaresoft for filling my childhood full of bad thoughts.

  • How come no one uses Chorno Ayla and Magus? Ive been doing a lot better jobs (Not to be an ass) And I went through 1 megalixer on the first part of Lavos, thats it and come to find out a couple seconds later that I didnt necessarily need it

  • @Embercry Crono, Ayla and Frog make one of the strongest triple techs in the game... 3D Attack.

  • @MegamanNG Just because the attack is strongest doesnt mean its the best ;)

  • @MegamanNG If 3D Attack is one of them what is the most without a doubt ultimate triple tech in the game

    ?

  • @MegamanNG well, my team doesn't have a triple attack and its Frog, Ayla and Magus. so, I have a tough time going through newgame+, yet; it's fun lol

  • @Embercry I don't see how that matters. I beat the game using marle and crono using new game plus before I even maxed out their stats

  • i have both the DS and SNES version of htis game, i like the SNES Sounds/Music alot better , but the DS Music/Sound is better than the PS1 Music/Sound, which i own that too XD

what can i say? its an epic game

  • Sooooo random how the right bit was the true lavos core <_<

  • damn, thats bad quality. at least i can hear the song lol

  • como pudiste destruir el de la derecha? se supone que era indestructible, no? yo aun no puedo mata a ese maldito lavos :D pero en mi party utilzo a Magus ne vez de a Ayla. Es mejor Ayla????

  • DUDE WAT WEAPON R U USiNG WITH CRONO??? ITS BADASS! and wats ur partys levels????? mines arent even that high when i made it to this part of the game...

  • @shinmasterx

Crono used the Rainbow which is his ultimate weapon and my team were at the upper 50s.

  • @MegamanNG God the Rainbow is such an awesome sword. Very high crit rate and massive dmg.

  • @rianfowler

It pales in comparison to the Dreamseeker which is exclusive for the DS version of the game. The Dreamseeker is more powerful than the rainbow and has a 90% critical hit rate.

  • @shinmasterx you must have had to do a speedrun. or, you never played this game before. as a matter of fact, i was 76 when i got here. oh well.

  • @lastblade3 im playin the snes version now. my party's levels were in the upper 40s when i made it to the inner core of lavos. i just couldnt beat him after that cuz i was too weak. i didnt do the side quests which is prolly why i wasnt prepared for this fight. i never picked up that sword. where do u get it??

  • @shinmasterx ok, you go to the giant's claw in 600 A.D. fight rusttyranno (which is very hard if you have no fire protection), then get the rainbow shell. take it to melchior, then he shall synthesise either 3 prism helms, or 1 prism dress. he will also synthesise the rainbow (crono's sword) and the prismspecs. go ahead, try it.

  • @lastblade3 no,Taban Makes the sun glasses from the sunstone and if you have the rainbow shell, lucca makes the prisimspec"Tacles"

  • chrono trigger was supossed to scare the living shit out of people you know...it was supossed that in 1999 or 2000 the end of the world would come in the real world-in chrono trigger it's day of lavos 1999."the end of the world" manifested in 1999 through that solar eclipse, coincidence or not lol.

other examples of suggesting the end of the world were tomb raider-the last revelation from 1999 & silent hill also from 1999.

  • the left thingy has 2.000 hp

the astronaut thingy has 20.000 hp

the right thingy that ressurects the other 2 has 80.000 hp or something like that.

  • This is really strange. I'm positive that in the SNES version, you had to destroy the middle guy, then the right bit drops it's defense until regenerating the middle one. Somehow in your video, you destroy the left one which, if I remember right, could never be destroyed in the original. Is this some kind of different version of the game?

  • @AVargyas

No. Destroying either the left or middle will cause the core's defenses to drop giving you the ability to unleash everything on him before he revitalizes either the left or middle parts.

  • @AVargyas the Lavos Core fight is really a Stamina Battle, it comes down to "Who can outlast who", everytime Active Life is used, itll decrease his Defenses ALOT meaning you can hammer him, ive had some fights over my many playthroughs where he used Active Life 2 or 3 times before his Defense was Restored, so i nailed him for good after the 3rd Active Life, btw for Frog and Ayla, dont be afraid to let them have Low HP, thats GOOD - Frog Squash/Dino Tail kick butt with Low HP, massive damage

  • who created Lavos ? is a summon ? an alien form ?

and where is Chrono's dad ?

  • My dad called this guy the cosmonaut walrus duck.

  • Time Warp...

Must be an 80s joke... like Rick Astley and Robo? *COUGH!*

  • 10 years later and I'm still blowen away by this fight! Battleing across time for the sake of all life that will ever exist against a being thats more or less a God! The feelling I got from winning this fight the first time has never been matched by anouther game.

  • if i recall, dont you have to kill the bits first then lavos core?

  • The Right Bit is the true Lavos Core and if I take one down, then the true Lavos Core's shields will go down giving me the opportunity to strike it. If it goes back up then I need to continue my original pattern.

  • sorry man i got nothin against you but your people were a little weak and goat of the night there is no fucking way you did that

  • If you are so tough, prove it to me that you did just that. If you can prove that then I'll accept your words but if not, you are only wasting my time.

  • @goatofthenight

Were you playing it on pants-on-head-retarded difficulty?

  • I always wondered why you see teh shadow of the left bit after he dies and the screen goes white

  • EXACT same party I used against him in the DS version...

  • this is by far the best rpg ive ever played ...well no exactly .. it shares its place with final fantasy 7

  • havent beaten it yet still playing through the awsomeness but is this guy the middle of the spikey lavos??

  • Well, I guess if you're watching this you've already been spoiled to the ending... but if you don't want a serious spoiler then stop reading now >_>

When you defeat lavos' core, he realizes unless he uses all the DNA he's collected from all life on earth over the years to turn himself into the ultimate being, you will kill him. As you can see, you kill him anyways.

  • I like RPG games so i'm thinking about buying Chrono Trigger...can anyone give me their opinon about the game?

  • I don't like RPGs much, but this is one of the best games I've ever owned.

  • Let's see here.. What word was it? Oh yeah...

    AMAZING.

  • Think of the best game you've ever played, x10 and better still.

  • It's pretty much a masterpiece. While it lacks the emotional depth of a Final Fantasy VI or the immersion of a Zelda (few games compare, though, to be honest), the story and fighting mechanics of Chrono Trigger are so frickin' virtuosic that you almost can't help yourself! It's pretty pricey, though, esp. on the SNES, so I'd recommend just downloading the ROM.

  • If you like RPG then you'll LOVE this game lol It has a pretty good story line if you play till the end and the gameplay is pretty fun so i hope you buy the game and have fun!

  • Correction: even if you DONT like RPG you will STILL love this game! Believe me thats at least the case with me =)

  • I thought it was really, maybe a little too many boss fights ruined the broth a lil for me tho.

  • i won in less time :D and i recommend using crono lucca and robo IN THAT ORDER or, whichever make lucca on the left from us lol

  • damn when I kill Lavos and my room is dark, the whole room starts flashing like the screen itself! xD

  • I don't think they wanted any attack hit for 500 HP always on the heroes. You had to keep Low Level runs in mind and that much damage would make it impossible.

This battle isn't easy for everyone but easy enough for a decent gamer imo.

  • Lavos isn't even human. He's some alien creature or whatever. But that's what I like villains to be, not even human.

This music gives off that same vibe... Chrono Trigger is one of the best games I've ever played.

  • This game brings back so many memories...

If only if my SNES worked i would beat this game again :(

  • i beat him awhile ago..hes pretty easy when you get your people 50+ in levels.

i used marlie, chrono, and magus

  • I love fighting him... ^_^

  • the hp of lavos on this battle?

    ???

  • 30 000. :s

  • im willing to bet this was the playstation version o.o they like cut his difficulty in half for the playstation

  • i feel bad right now afther kill these guy more then 4 times

  • ive heard the DS version is harder, which is a good thing. for a final battle this was too easy. if i was a game designer, i wouldve made lavos attack faster, and have evil star always hit for 500 HP instead of cutting HP in half (for such a cool attack its not that dangerous)

  • btw, can anyone help me? i fought lavos' outside but i want to switch characters for the core fight but it will only let me switch with Ayla in the end no one else

  • in the ds version the attack dream reaver (i think its that attack) did over 1000 dmg to each character

  • wow the SNES version is easy. The DS version is brutal compared to this

  • god yes it is i only just finished DS version nearly creid it was that hard lol

  • the DS version is easy (i finish the game at lvl.50)But when you finish the game theres like 6 other endings...and these are f*cking hard. -.-

  • I wish that the BG for this battle would stay Dark and green like it does later in the battle.

  • Errm...The right bit is the true lavos core?? Isn't the lavos core the lavos core :S

Sorry, i've never played Chrono Trigger O_o

  • Nope just. I think is more like, a trap. You get like, "YAY, I BEAT IT... wait, why the bits dont die?" But I got not too much problems. (well... you should too, If you put the 3 character (Crono, Lucca and Magus) with the better skils (Luminaire, Flare and Dark Matter) and with LOTS full ethers (they completely heal all the party and refills all theirs MP). And, if you havent played chrono trigger, download a snes emulator and chrono trigger or buy the chrono trigger for ds

  • Comment removed

  • I'm sure the vid uploader does or why would he upload a video if he didn't want there to be relavant comments on it?

  • Bad luck with the Grand Stone, he like spammed that shit!

  • Total time on Lavos: 28min 38 seconds - that's pretty fast for Lavos.

  • cause he knew queers like you would get jealous as hell and call him that

  • I started the game over and im at the part where you have to fight those 2 cheap assed golem things

  • This brings back bad memories of me always getting my ass whooped on this level. On the plus side i actually did it! After a month or so...

  • Oh yeah, Magus was at level 54,

    Chrono at level 53,

    and Marle at level 52.

  • This battle took FOREVER, but it was pretty easy. I used Magus, Chrono, and Marle. I mainly used Magus to attack with his almighty magic and I made Chrono and Marle heal whenever Lavos used a strong attack.

  • It was kinda easy, I use Ayla, Chrono, and Robo, because Robo still has a heal move, but he has a kickass uzi punch.

  • Did Crono laugh at the end?

  • hmm its likea spin off of final fantasy!

  • Squaresoft made both games, so it's normal !

  • try to concentrate on the lavos core and take Magus,Robo and lucca and one blue stone so do Omega Flare

  • i faced this with Chrono, Marle, and Frog and man does Arc Impulse and Double Cure help a lot! *cause i got here from Black Omen*

  • Well, my tactics was a little different: since I knew that the center one will be revived if killed, I thought it should be leaved alone and concentrated all my attacks at the right bit. Killed Lavos with a Lv54 Crono/Frog/Robo team. Used up 4 megalixirs, though...

  • You know what would have made this guy much harder? If the center pod were the Lavos Core and had 30000 health. You know, the one that FREAKING DOES ALL THE DAMAGE? On the DS version I beat this guy my first try and he never even brought anyone near death. I didn't even know he had an ultimate attack!

  • I had no idea the right bit was what truely needed to be destroyed in order to defeat it. Hm, no wonder the left and middle disappeared after I destroyed the right bit.

  • X-D not as bad as me, I was too curious at the end of time, and I went into the bucket portal. My ass was owned by lavos. X-D

  • My strategy for the Lavos Core is destroy the Left Pod (Left Bit), and then pound the Center Pod and the Lavos Core (Right Bit) with my most powerful attacks.

  • I faced this solo with a level 55 Crono.

It just goes to show how broken Haste Helms, maxed out speed, and Luminaire really is.

  • i had atleast my characters at Lv 80 lmao i killed in 3 minutes :P

  • Holy Crap. I beat CTDS today using that exact same team and strategy: 3D Attacking the hell out of everybody.

  • ya me too but with chrono marle and lucca there at the highest lvl you can go

  • ey Megaman NG what lv were you when you did this? Cuz im like lvl 50 and im having trouble with Lavos

  • .....buddy i had to be level 70 and up b4 i finally beat this guy first time

  • Really? I was level 47 :P

  • I love it how trigger-happy(or slash-happy would probably be more fitting) Crono is in this fight due to his counter-attack ^^

The way he attacks Lavos Core when its using Time Warp or Right Bit when turning on and off its defense always seemed funny to me.

  • nice one bro..try also the falcon hit..its easier to knock out Lavos and the left bit..;)

  • It seems to me that all final bosses have a cool or interesting background, this battle is no exception.

  • This fight was neat in that boss is really the just the tiny little thing on the right. Only other final boss I remember being so weak looking is final fantasy 10's.

  • guess you were pissed at 5:58 XD

  • Hell yeah this boss was esy...the Hardest one for me was Golam twins ....what about u

  • Mine was actually the Rust Tyrano, only because I had ruby vests equipped, and he one hitted my party D;

  • Goloms are the easiest in the game if your not a dumbass. I literally take no damage and they don't even touch me.

  • Anyone else think that the final boss was too easy?

  • Yes.

  • Well, at least it wasn't one of those ones that spam a super-attack several times and most of its strategy ends up being based on luck. Every single fricking boss in Final Fantasies III and IV on the DS, I'm looking at you.

But yeah, CT was the perfect RPG.

  • ME...... unfotunately

  • soooo... you're saying you suck?

  • The left part is Jnova. Look, it survives

  • Tapion VS Cell!lol

  • I took 2hours on the boss, using every mega-elixer, Elixer, Eithers, and all of that, to find out the little thing on the right was the boss, I was so pissed!

  • This battle always took me by surprise by how hard it was compared to the previous bosses. (omit the bosses you were supposed to lose against) Usually in most RPGs, a boss in a side quest would prove to be even harder to beat than the final boss itself. I always felt that this was one of the few RPGs whose final bosses were the hardest in the game.

  • I just LOVE the bgm of this battle :D

  • i know im soooo getting it

  • Confirmed for DS

  • i mean, i never got to play it... back in the NES/SNES days I was like a few years old at max so i couldnt beat an rpg... but man if they released this on DS, VC, or GBA, it would be crazy

  • i hated the low digits of this game lol... i prefer seeing 9999 dmg then a 100... they need 2 re-release this game on VC, DS, or somethin. because chrono cross SUCKS

  • The very easy if you solo it with magus his the most powerful.

  • cronos attack at 1:53 reminds me of sabins bum rush from ff6

  • This is what final battle should be. Trippy, (with sucking in background, time warps and stuff) epic music and everything.

    This boss battle was awesome.

  • I both love and hate this fight with all my life. Its so sneaky and difficult; like the center bit not being the core and such... Hate it, because I always fought it underleveled, and if you ARE underleveled, its one of the hardest end bosses you'll ever fight.

  • I hate him because thanks to him the whole game is about saving the world. If he wasn't there it would've been like awsome traveling through time meeting bitches in every time period and that shit would've been awsome!

  • What a great game, great memories.

  • You'd figure the True Lavos Core would be the one in the middle...

  • No way. The True Lavos Core was actually at the right.

  • It was done as a sneaky little trick; yeah, you'd FIGURE it'd be the center one, but its the one at the right.

  • I hate to admit that if I hadn't accidentally seen a note that the core was the thing on the right, I would've been owned in this fight.
