I'm from back in the day and I owned the vinyl album with this cover when I as a teenager. However this cut doesn't sound completely like the one I had then. I do remember a more modern version came out years later and the part where the music fades and the bass singer came back wailing, wasn't on that one. My question is, if you do have this version heard here, what year was your copy recorded? Just curious.
Thanks for writting,give me about a week to find it.(my collection is in a little disarray right now). but I do think my album cover has 1962 on it,which is very,very rare,because back then they did'nt put the year on hardly any records.Now and then you would,but I only have a scarce few out of about 4,000 records-45 's and albums from the 50's and 60's
1962? That sounds about right. I'm sorry, but I misworded my question. What I meant to say is if you had the album, whose cover is shown here, what date was that? As for the song heard here, I'm also curious if it's the same lead singer,because he sounds a little different than the original cut. Nostalgia:Seen them at Apollo in Harlem.When music faded, lead raised hands, singers on either side slapped five, they all spun into perfect split.Bass wailed dum dum,We screamed!!!
Yes, that is the same lead singer.He sings some of the lyrics a litte more phonenetically on this "take"But they did'nt go with it '62. Glad they did'nt. This "electrically enhanced" version does'nt cut it with me. I am 99.99% postive that I saw them in the 70's at Madison Square Garden,and or The Academy of Music in N.Y.C. they were also on P.B.S. a few years ago. This was the first song that I ever heard with a "false" ending. I LOVE A "FALSE ENDING-the end-U.B.
