  • @zuzazla It's kept me going, when I thought I shouldn't even try to wake up in the morning. It's one those gifts that come out no where and Man am I forever thankful. I love jazz

  • Cool Jazz at its coolest.

  • the phrase, "But not for me" describes me perfectly. Everyone around me seems to happy, in love, or a good job, or something like that. but me....well. I'm still blue and a little sad some things that could have been are not.

  • @pwnmonkeyisreal My 2 cents for you--feeling a little blue is normal, understandable, and you can indulge it. A bit. But there are truths that go beyond those things you wrote about. You were created by someone more awesome than any fleeting emotion you experience here. If you were to aim your attention in that direction, you may find more unexplored territory to ignite a fire of passion inside you that makes life exciting again.

  • @pwnmonkeyisreal same, but not only has chet baker broken my heart with his music, but he also keeps me going, favorite jazz musician, he went through a lot and some i can relate to. It's amazing the way music can make you feel, right?

Remember, it was declared "accidental" by the very same legal system that can't solve the multiple murders of American women in Aruba . . .

  • I hope for YOU also!

    :)

  • @iwantablackparade....God only carries an iGod....

  • Chet's renditions are nearly always the most tasteful and effective. So much more is conveyed by him in his understated style; it makes one really understand the heart-break.

  • I always like the rhythm session that Chet played with.

    .

  • ascolto questo pezzo da 50 anni con l'emozione della prima volta

  • ascolto questo pezzo da 50 anni con l'emozione della prima volta

  • I love hard rock, punk and so on, but I think these kind of songs are really touching and people should listen to these kind of genre. I mean, this song is really wonderful!

  • I'm in a metal band and live for that kind of music, but this... well, it takes you places no rock music can take you. There's so much feel - movies for the blind. Wonderful stuff that makes me glad to be alive.

  • @Vulvagun well said my friend well said

  • when i was in love i listened to this and cried...

  • @blartefax When you're in love but not fulfilled you cry on any tune. take care of your heart.

  • Absolute joy - 3 minutes of bliss !!!

  • i ADORE the way chet baker plays the horn and sings. he was truly a gift.

  • THIS song makes me cry. but its also really beautiful.

  • I went to sleep with this song and my dream was such a bliss.

  • from what i hear he is a miles davis with vibrato

  • smooth smooth smooth

  • it's by Gershwin

  • A real gift from the past.

  • He's just really good.

  • cada vez que escucho esta cancion no dejo de sonreir

  • He kept asking me if I knew where he could "score some grass" and everytime I said "no" he became more irritated. As he got more and more upset, I actually started to feel relieved. Chet Baker was now angry with me because I refused to drive him around to find drugs, and the way I saw it, that was my "out."

  • whoa A trumpet! THAT TAKES ME BACK TO THE FORTIES - my fathers generation thanks TIM

  • such a unique tone in his voice and playing wow hes so great

  • @chris4presidenttt I guess it's not for them

  • @chris4presidenttt make that 17

  • ME EMOCIONA MUCHO ESTA MUSICA Y ESTE CANTANTE. Y ESTE RITMO.

  • I just started to listen to his music, and I'm stuck! It is the most beautiful music I've ever heard.

  • I feel like Mr. Gershwin wrote this for Mr. Baker, perfect combination.

  • The song means: She doesn't love me and I accept it, does it?

  • Is it just me or does anybody else think the opening few trumpet notes sound like they're from 'Bye Bye Blackbird'?

  • @TheHansVogel it's just you

  • @rafacoronel

or, at least, its not also you!

  • does anyone know how to write the time signature for this? is it eight eights? i never learned how to count measures without the sheets. thanks

  • r u transcribing/transposing this too? i saw on one of my teachers charts that its in 4/4

  • @bettygoodbody if you want the chord progressions i have them but i brought them down a step for trumpet....

  • don't the very first notes almost sound like he is going to do taking a chance on love? when i scat and sing with him, even though i really don't know what he looks like or anything, but its a connection, like a love thing in music. i hear some dakota stanton type playing near the end of the tune, do you? sounds like a couple of notes from the late late show.

  • The looks of Elvis, The talent of Armstrong and a voice like velvet. In our age of over inflated egos and so called "X Factor" wannabes here's a man who truly had it.

  • ok, Mr Holland's Opus is a twisted tl tail, let's just leave it at that please.

  • anyone know lyrics?

  • @pwnmonkeyisreal They're writing songs of love, but not for me A lucky star's above, but not for me With love to lead the way, I've found more clouds of gray Than any Russian play could guarantee I was a fool to fall and get that way Hi ho, alas, and also lackaday And though I can't dismiss the memory of her kiss I guess she's not for me I was a fool to fall and get that way Hi ho, alas, and also lackaday And though I can't dismiss the memory of her kiss I guess she's not for me

  • @ALTERED13TH - the jazz scene in France is alive & well, thanks to local as well as visiting musiciens. There are so many jazz festivals during the summer that it's impossible to take in even a fraction & there are jazz clubs everywhere. We have 3 full program clubs here in Lyon & I have a very incomplete list of over 50 addresses in town where they book jazz musiciens, among others. The scene is very lively. Of course lots to do in Paris too.

  • Excellent!!! Thanks for posting:)

    Grandma mary

  • It is well kown sunny romantic jazz ballad..Chet Baker and his band play it cool.

  • @kiplinggorilla I agree...

  • @glolib6 If you begin playing a musical instrument, you can become a good player 'cause you're young! I begun playind my keyboard when I was 5! I usually play jazz!

  • @glolib6 great!!! If you begin learining to play a musical instrument, you can become a great player, because you are so young! I'm a keyboarder, I usually play jazz and I begun playing at 6 years old!

  • GORGEOUS!!! BellaƸ̵̡Ӝ̵Ʒ

  • Chet baker is known as good singer, but his trumpet is also smooth and beautiful.

  • probably one of my favorite trumpet solos ever.

  • His sound is similar to Mel Torme, but much warmer.

  • gold

  • Gorgeous beyond words,,,thank you so much for posting this. The world needs to hear this music...many Loves!

  • Awesome

  • i like this song so much, i also like the way the piano and song played at 2.34 - 2.40.. good improvisation..! so cool!

  • <3 Thanks Chet

  • The Best !

  • His death marked the end of the golden era of music, "where Singers could acually play instruments".

  • @Aeriskittykat you forgot to mention Singer that could sing ;) which is not always the case this day's

  • True, and if they were just a singer then they mastered voice and theory so that their voices were beautiful instruments.

  • @Aeriskittykat for the record, i'm a singer who plays the saxophone, guitar, piano and trumpet. chet baker along other people are my musical idols but that doesn't mean we can't pay a tribute to them by continuing their legacies.

  • @watthe199 and me i just put my first song on youtube, Mommo - sometimes im shy, and i play the guitar and sing, i just started and never will probably reach the standards of Chet but I like it....

  • @Aeriskittykat

oh dont say so, i for instance respect chet baker very much because i love his music. but i also listen to drum and bass, uk garage and dubstep, a very different genres. so i dont think that the golden era of music ended.

  • @KasiekMUSIC You're just a dumb hipster.

  • @stayebilo

    thanks a lot! ;)

  • @KasiekMUSIC

I won't agree to the fact that the golden era of music has ended - there is a lot of innovative talent going on in the world today. But you see, the problem today is that everybody just wants to go crazy at clubs and nobody wants to listen and love. Now, I, being a fan of occasional DnB myself, can't say I completely disagree with you. But the producers out there (at least the commercial ones) have no glimpse of musical virtuosity compared to the likes of Chet B.

  • @Aeriskittykat It could be... but we still have George Benson, John Pizzarelli and Diane Krall and my favorite Tommy Emmanuel, just to name a few... those cats can actually play...

  • MUCH different than the Coltrane arrangement, Trane did it up all "Giant Step" like with the chord progression.

  • I Love, I loved....

    Show!

    The man, the show!

  • i love the lyrics =D

  • This song is simply awesome. Anyone knows the chords? This is incredible. I want to play it with my bandddd.

  • his voice is just... :)

  • beautiful..

  • fabulous what a talent

  • fab trumpeter and great singer to love it

  • This is my favorite Chet song

  • Oh, he's so smooth... there's a sadness in his tone (voice and trumpet)... I sound too happy if not a little angry!

  • but not for me.

  • Fab trumpet. The last time I heard this was many years ago and I still remembered his solos note-by-note--because they're perfect and inevitable.

  • I envy people who can listen to this song and merely enjoy it as a piece of music, without personally identifying with the message.

  • Tutto è iniziato così bene, ma che fine

Questo è il momento in cui si ha bisogno di un amico

Quando ogni trama felice finisce con un matrimonio

E non cè matrimonio per me

  • Era uno sciocco a cadere e prendere quella via

  • I Love This...

  • It's by Gershwin.

  • this song...this song...its where i am so often...all hail chet.

  • 10 stars (out of five)

  • beautiful.

  • This makes me melt. Oh my goodness.

  • HIS VOICE OH DEAR GOD IT'S HEAVEN

  • @kiplinggorilla He is so damn smooth. I love this man's voice, and I don't care who knows it...

  • @kiplinggorilla

i know, his voice is so soft and SMOOTH!

  • but not for me! masterpeice!
