Hey guys, hate to spam, but I was wondering if you can help me out. My band Just Noise just released our first free EP and I have a couple songs on my channel (the rest will be up later) and we are greatly inspired by bands like The Get Up Kids, Thursday, Underoath and Deftones. I figure, maybe some of you will get something out of it. If you're interested in listening, thanks a ton! If not, oh well. Just want to get the word out. If you'd rate this up so others can see that'd also be awesome!
WOW! Hell Yeah! Love The Get Up Kids! Listening to a lot of TGUK, Hey You!, Blondie, Green Day, The Offspring, Weezer and No Doubt...MORE PUNK IN 2011 !!
Hey You! is still pretty new, but they're waaaay dope. Cool edge, and cute chick singer too :-) ...you should check em out
I remember sneaking into the Bottleneck in Lawrence (I was still underage) to see them & Everclear years ago! Still by far one of the best shows I've ever seen!!!
actually it was a genre back in the day maybe before your time... emo is emotiomal music if you listen to the lyrics and the music its very emotional stuff hense the name emo
dude are you serious? punk never died cause it's not about the music. the music is dead yes because nobody has really tried to replicate it. nobody can be gorilla biscuits or any of those old bands. Punk is about the attitude of kids pissed at the establishment and their parents and all that. GUK and other bands like that are bands that took influence from those bands and branched off into their own idea. not everybody has the same ideas. but punk is not dead.
fuck you asshole the get up kids are one of the most influential bands ever. what the fuck do you listen to songs about shooting people and fucking girls every five seconds? at least these songs have fucking meaning you prick
yeah being internet tough is all the rage these days. how about we all grow up and not watch and comment on videos we dont even like? yeahhh but that would mean being rational and smart and god forbid anybody does that.
for me emo in the beginning was just a more serious and indie-styled way of doing punkrock music . As emo became famous it actually wasn't emo anymore. for me emo never ment black hears or piercings ... now it does.
your right real emo is not all about the tight jeans the cutting ir self the oen sided hair!! and all that kind of shit.... at least some one understand>>>
the man i think obviously said that most ppl now are all about looks The whole Emo scene has gone to far and now they all act, look, feel, and cut themselves the same But thats how all sterotypes are like thugs are all the same Rockers all the same Is all just sterotypical bull shit I hate how no one has their own style any more I kinda do but im noot one of those losers who just trys to stand out to say their different cuz they all act the same too I just do what i think is right IDC about any1
And by the way, emo was pretty underground. It wasn't trendy enough for MTV to know what it was. There was a totally underground midwest scene and westcoast scene that was hugely popular for people in the know (mostly punks) but never made it to major labels whatsoever.
mainly emo was a branch of nerdy kids that wanted to make music and show expression thats like the 2nd generation i say and 1st was more punk aka emotive
mtv dont make trends they follow what most kids do and sell out and make prodcast with mainstream fake bands i agree on the bottom this is just music and if you keep fighting about it your just like all the youtube d bags just sit down and listion im just proving a statement
MTV just mislabeled bands that played with emo headliners as emo, and shit like dashboard confessional and then goth crap got called emo.
This is real emo right here during the best emo days, which was probably the mid 90s to 2001 or 2002. I was a part of the entire scene as it happened, and the scene is prior to youtube's existence, so telling it like it is transcends youtube comments.
I was lucky enough to see The Get Up Kids live a few times but I'll never forget the very first time. It was 1997 at CBGB's. I still don't know what they were doing on that bill, they played with Spazz, Monster X, and 97A. Talk about being the odd man out. Braid was there, too, so I guess they weren't the only oddballs that day. Man, I sure do miss the good old days.
this is what you kids call emo??! this is not emo..this is what you call music. wow..people really can play more than 3 chords....grow up! and check out son volt or the get up kids..
Good thing this is Pop Punk and not "emo" twats.
