Guys he doesn't mention jumps. Yea wide (gangster) stance gives u great stability but try spinning and its average. Look at some sik jibbers e.g. jed anderson, joe sexton, there stance is pretty narrow... yes this allows for tail presses and shit but also makes u spin way faster. Top tip on the floor, jump up and land in a halfish squat. where your feet are and distance apart is ur ideal stance.
@SAGE795 Actually sage i know allot of people who are really good and have the so called (gangster) stance you are talking about for example Matt Mullaney as an amazing jump capability, his stance is (gangster) as you would say and he can 1080 so its all personal preference and maybe you and those other 3 people have the same opinion, just realize that its a personal opinion and some people CAN ride the wide stance and rock it at that in terms of all over the mountain including jumps and carving
@logeywogey exactly i have the same stance and the same age and i can cork 9 fs and bs so i think u and me are good, so it really doesnt matter, its all preference.
hey i have a burton punch and i ride park. im about 5'5 or 5'6 and last season i rode a 19.5 inch stance. this year i want to increase it because i grew and for jibbing, spinning, etc, BUT the next and last increase is a 22.5. im wondering if its too wide for my height and style. i usually ride a 21. you thoughts?
hey guys just a quick question, k i got a brand new k2 board for christmas and i made the stance as wide as it goes but the outside edge of my binding on the nose sidde is longer than the outside edge of the binding on the tail side what should i do to fix it if i can cuz it looks really goony!
Sounds like you have a directional board. And your stance is prolly way to wide if you have them all the way out. Measure from center of binding to center of binding. If you're over 24", you better be atleast 6'2" tall.
i ride groomers and park i used to ride shoulder width (my shoulder width is 15in) but i moved my bindings up a little every time and it felt best at 22in for carving, riding, and park, just a suggestion

i find that my wide stance makes me feel insanely secure when carving.. why does he say you'd want to make it narrower?

will it affect your riding if you're constantly switching between wide and narrow?

So if its not about performance and its about comfort level should it be to your preference? or you should stay with the recommended stance

FreshLevel1000001 2 years ago
no thats not bad at all, 2 inches would be too much, you're supposed to have a little overhang
