I like his music ever since I heard him singing in 2003, also I bought this english album nd although I like it in one but some lyrics r so 'cheap'..I was wondering..so think maybe it is better to stay by french lyrics, the feeling has basically in it. His voice is unique!

No, no, no more french albums, please! Maybe lyrics are better but it doesn't matter at all. The French consider them "crap" anyway and nobody else understands a word. What's more - french-language records are distributed only in francophone countries, so there's no possiblity of any international career. And french market is dying, sales are catastrophic! He has no choice. It's an english-language career or - very soon - no career at all. Pity he started to record in French in the first place.

Sure they consider Plamondon, Goldman, Obispo not to mention Veneruso & co as crap. Sorry. And francophone music isn't known in the world anymore. It was in the sixties and seventies - in Europe and South America for example but it's over. Garou's popularity in Poland was kind of an accident. And I didn't say that french music is dying I said that the musical market in France is dying. Look at the figures. When you can be No 1 of top 200 (albums) with 16,000 copies? That's scary.

I don't know how much "Piece of my soul" is selling in France, I don't have the guts to check, but - let's face it - he's career in France is over. It's not his fault, it's the pattern now - one. two succesful records and it's over, the next please. I did a lot of thinking about Garou and his career. And I've come to conclusion that not only he shouldn't start to record in French, he shouldn't sign with that mobster Angelil but he shouldn't accept Quasimodo part in the first place.

Before Quasimodo he was a R'n'B and rock singer, singing what he liked. He didn't even know much about French music. When he started to play Quasimodo he talked (in interviews) about blues - and - as far as the french artist were concerned about De Palmas and Sinclair. But after Quasimodo (Plamondon, Angelil...) while recording "Seul" he was somebody totally different - French pop singer. Chanteur de variete francaise. Singing what he was given to sing. So I say FUCK to his francophone career.

I hope you understand now, Margo. I know that you're interested in French music. I am not, not in particular, but I have a good idea (I daresay) about french pop and the french music market. Also, I lived in France for years so I know a thing or two about French folk - what they like, how they think. Garou is out of place in France. They don't understand a thing about him. He was their blue-eyed boy for a time being but that's history now. About the singer they don't give a damn.

why would they?they still remember that he sung the song of the century - Belle. they still do remember him from Quasimodo,and if he records a french language album - i think he will come back to the greatness in France. i guess this acoustic tour that he made wouldn't be that success if he wasn't popular at all.

this blued-eyed guy with the hoarse voice. and though I do agree that Seul was really made for public,for girls to fall in love with Quasi from Notre Dame,I'm happy cause I heard something like Reviens which is great CD,with different styles of music.Yes,I consider his music as French pop-I still appreciate,cause a few great songs were made by him and producers.

He wrote the lyrics only. Personally, like nanucha, I'd like to hear some of his own MUSIC. Some songs composed by him - good or bad, it doesn't matter that much. It's just that I want to know who he is, musically speaking. Some guy said that, to him, Garou is somebody who has talent but no direction. That's my feeling exactly. I see him as rock musician - possibly because I love rock music(and when I say rock I really mean rock!!), all those pop ballads I find them boring... But I don't know

but Garou is not a composer. i remember him saying that he is not writing music,he was even saying that he was not about to write lyrics,but he did. I believe that he is like on Reviens album. because Seul was totally mix,Garou album was strange,this is for a market-but I still believe Garou finds himself like that-but Reviens I guess really shows who Garou is. how he wants to sound like.
