  • dont really understand why everyone keeps hating on guards, if u dont like it dont watch it, simple..........everytime i stumble upon this vid people are always argueing and shit. grow up and google the guards if u need info..... patrick7794 gives a good description of whats goin on.

  • The title is incorrect. This is HALF of the changing of the guard.

  • Wtf happen to traditional gun

  • @CHACH208 its not a gun my friend, its a rifle :)

  • @CHACH208 The Reason they don't use traditional Rifles is due to accuracy and the benefits of the new weapons these are, correct me if i'm wrong SA80 Rifles ehich is one of the best assault rifles in the world. What alot of people forget is that these Guards are actually working guards if someone was to try and attack the Queen or go towards trying to enter Buckingham Palace or what not then they are allowed to fire at them, these guards are not ceremonial so why would they use old weapons?

  • looks funny with them modern weapons :P

  • Yeah the Kremlin guards are alot more strict.

  • They suck...

  • yeah well this is a fake so stop your arguing.

  • WTF on the head of this gays???

  • с росто м у них большой разбег по отношению к нашим Кремлёвцам

  • what does the guard read off the notepad

  • @patrickd7794 The guard (person reading, corporal) is reading the duties for the new guard, who will remain sentry (How long he stays there, when to start marching), and is also reliefing the old sentry guard. This is not a full changing of the guard, merely a sentry relief. (2 hours on, with a set patrol every 15 minutes.)

  • The "Looking confused" part of this video is something akin to the order of "cover", in which the members in the formation turn their heads to the right and align themselves. The person on the far right of every rank of the formation aligns themselves the the person in front of him. Everyone to that individual's left aligns with him. This results in an evenly spaced formation. Notice that the shorter soldier on the left is the one to adjust.

  • Type MYPRIZE instead of YOU in youtube and hit enter

  • They need a haircut !! lol

  • i wonder when they gonna ditch the marge simpson hair hats

  • @layzer80 They won't it's a part of their uniform!

  • @bigpie23 A Guardsman is a soldier. They are Soldiers, who also Guard the Royal households around Britain.

Take this from someone who actually knows what they're talking about, having many friends in the Armed Services, of which a couple are in the Grenadier and Coldstream guards.

In Summary: These are first and foremost Serving Soldiers. They are then put on a Rotation of Ceremonial Duties and Active service.

You are clearly some arm-chair-expert on this matter though.....

  • @bigpie23 For fuck sake do some bloody homework you mong. The Grenadier Guards are one of THE most Elite/Respected INFANTRY Regiments in the British Army.

They are Dual-Role, that is to say, they perform Both Combat and Ceremonial duties. Have you noticed how many "Guards" have been killed in Afghanistan?

Go up to any of these "Guards" and ask if they're a real soldier...

  • @Someloke8895 i agree with you on all your comments..but these are scots guards not grenadiers..marty

  • @louislungbubble Yeah, I know, it was more an example

  • What's that slate he takes out of that black "tower" type thing?

  • @JulesC6 From what I gather, it's a clipboard with the sentry's duties on it. Or, it's the shift pattern.

  • @bigpie23, Look they are soldiers first, they are most likely just out of training as you get put on ceremonial duties after you pass out (pass training). Their regiment may be called Grenadier Guards but they fight on the front line when their regiment goes on tour.

  • @TheMitchy93 the battalions do london duties on rotation from operational ..not neccesarily after basic training....and these are scots guards not grenadiers...aside from that i agree......marty

  • @bigpie23, The guards are soldiers, they fight on the front line when their regiment goes on tour. These soldiers are just on ceremonial duties.

  • Enough of this shit, just get in that fuckin box and keep a lookout for fucking terrorists, i'm going for cuppa tea.

  • if you dont know what it is then dont slag it off! its just a sentry change at the tower of london which happens every 2 hours... wanna see the real change then search changing of the guard...

  • wtf is this? u brits call this "a changing of the Guards" ?

  • @kenne4h

No, for the hundredth time, this is just a simple shift change where sentries are swapped.

The actual Changing of the Guard takes place at Buckingham Palace & St. James Palace, and at Windsor Castle, both of which involve sizeable military bands and more soldiers.

The 'Guard' in 'Changing the Guard' refers to the body of soldiers known as the 'Guard'. The ceremony dates back hundreds of years.

  • god the brits are so gay

  • @Str33tFiGhTeR1 stfu racist

  • @Str33tFiGhTeR1 lol american i guess.... ow look you are what a surprise

This is a tradition and started before your country was a colony and we indaved america, lol so stop the ignorants and pull the burger away from your face and see sense, its people like you who give america a bad name

  • @MysteriaMedia Exactly. I'm a US citizen and I can tell you that he is not a good representation of the population.

  • i want their hats!

  • @1997nutcracker

    They cost about 500 pounds.

  • Those guns look pretty fake. They sound like they're made of plastic.

  • @stinkomalinko

What modern gun today doesn't have components made of plastic?

The guns they carry are the same ones they use in Afghanistan, the SA80.

  • They carry some nice guns. Don't know if they are loaded or what but nice guns.

  • Okay, this is for all the Yanks (and any other clowns) commenting on this video. THIS IS NOT A CEREMONIAL CHANGING OF THE GUARD (as in the tomb of the unknown in Washington) this is just a guard change, its like watching the guy who opens the barriers at the Pentagon getting relieved of duty, but with really nice uniforms.

  • wow that was a real mess. They must have all been having an off day?

  • I know it was just a shift change, but they should have done better.

  • @accountnumber90

How much better could it have been? I don't see any problems with it.

  • watch?v=WWyPaK0umK8&feature=related - Russian Army

  • They all have the perfect afro. lol.

  • nothing newbie ish about that one mate they done there drill as asked

  • oh that's scots guards

my dad wasin the scots guards regement

  • @4fox85 The US changing of the guards do only one job and that is guarding a tomb which is just for ceromony, unlike these guards who a serving as guards to the building and also fight on the front line. The US guards are beat anyday by the Queens Colour Squadron.

  • this isnt like the honor guard its totally different there just guarding this place and changeing shifts its no big show

  • some of u yanks need to sort ur lives out because i agree this is slightly messy but alot of the british army is amazin at drill and better then u yanks and to be honest the army is there to keep peace and defend nt to dance around flicking our heals everywhere

  • What a mess, this is sooo sloppy...US marines blow this away...messy messy and unorganized

  • @MrGixxerjay the US marines get there arse wooped on the would would be classed as "sloppy ceromony" from The Queens Colour Guard.

  • Theis is not the ceremonial Changing of the Guard. This is just the changeover of the sentry at one point. The Corporal inspects the sentry and reads him his orders, it has a practical purpose.

  • nobody cares about the U.S but the U.S

  • @TSnXxOshelxX HAAAHHA NO ONE CARES ABOUT ALL OF YOU FUCKING UGLY ASS BRITTS..USA FOREVER

  • omg i want a hat like that

  • Only Humans can end up making a simple thing as swapping people such a complicated task!

  • @Slurfs its not what you do its the way that you do it ..

  • wow...so many mistakes lol

  • Where were you looking. He didnt turn close enough to the other guard and would you with a bayonet? They are supposed to stop away because of the bayonet and then move in. You want to talk about sloppy look at your honour guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier. I know they aint sloppy but its a different way fo doing things but thats you cant understand. These are good in comparison but without all the lets twirl guns.

  • No you got me all wrong. All the other videos of British guards I have looked at, they dont make mistakes these one just messed up alot.

  • Their guns look cool

  • Bear in mind that at the tomb of the Unknowns in DC, that the guards are hand picked to be guards. The British guards in London are an actual infantry unit that does other things than just stand guard. They might not be as crisp, but they are still damn good.

  • You don't know what the fuck you are talking about. The "Old Guard" are combat tested, look at their metals on their uniform!!!!!

  • I'm not saying that the individual soldiers in the "Old Guard" haven't been in combat. What I'm saying is that the Guards in London rotate on ceremonial duties and then back on deployments as a UNIT. The "Old Guard" by itself is a ceremonial unit just like the Marine Corps Silent Drill platoon. The members of it may have been in combat, but the unit itself concentrates on ceremonial duties. In other words, when was the last time that the Old Guard deployed to combat as a unit.

  • I don't see any METALS on their uniform, but I do see MEDALS on their uniform!

  • Not at all. Many have not deployed. All soldiers have medale that need not be earned in combat.

  • I wonder why, oh yeh we only have 9,000 troops in Afghanistan and only 5,000 are front line, no wonder so many are getting wounded, we need more troops and do the job properly. like the Americans are doing. British commanders are calling for another 10,000 troops if we want to see this war over in the near future.

  • Not as crisp, they are great (well these ones arn't) it is the way that we change the guards that I suppose make others better.

You should Watch the trooping of the colour! Best millitary march ever.

  • I have utmost respect for all of our allies and their soldiers but I do have to admit they don't look as crisp as the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier. But hey every country has different ways of doing things.

  • They are as crisp as the guards at the tomb of the unknown soldier as this is just change over of the officer it isnt for pomp and circumstance but it is what it is a change over. Europe and the US have a big difference in doing things and these are guards not ceremonial watchers. Europeans dont twirl guns around but get the job done. Have a look at changing of the guard when all the ceremoney and pomp is there and then you will find perfection at its best.

  • Lol I wouldn't say we just twirl our guns we more of aim and shoot them then twirl.

  • @jdi0093113 Are you high, they are not ANYWHERE near as "Crisp" as the US!!

  • This is in the Tower of London.

  • @blindxsv This is the tower of london. I studied in London for a good year. Been there many times. The one is Buckingham is alot more glamorous.

  • @blindxsv

Shut the fuck up you pathetic little yankee know it all. You all seem to like to think you know everything about every country worldwide you don't. Thats CLEARLY the Tower of London so shut your mouth. Also if your such a proud american citizen and all this bullshit how come 5 minutes ago my little brother was playing this gay little game called runescape and there was a little American geek on it pretending to be english to a few of his fellow yankees thinking he'd look cool. Fags.

  • yankee? wat are u a confederate

  • @theJRLMchannel

    European...Brittish

  • @blindxsv ow lol fail! The soldiers are stationed in other places of London as well you know

  • @blindxsv i think your a stupid dumbass, but do i mention it without reason? no so shut the fuck up and have some respect,

    have a lovely evening.

  • @blindxsv You are an American and therefore obviously stupid.

  • @blindxsv You don't know much about Englad do you pal? ...

  • @blindxsv calling someone a dumbass is probably not a smart idea when you don't know the location of this video. These are men of the Household Division (1st Batallion Scots Guards) and they are guarding the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London. no member of the public can get this close to the Guardsmen at buckingham Palace.

  • This must be at the tower of London. I can hear the ravens on the background

  • Looks sloppy as hell compared to our changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknowns in DC.

  • your guards are walking like having a dick in their ass american idiot

  • Just so damn jealous that you don't have the sharp looking guards that we do who do an excellent job of changing the guard at the Tomb, what I see in this video looks like high school kids at ROTC practice!!!

  • This is just a change of shift/duty/sentry. It is not the big parade at Buckingham Palace, the soldiers will be changed, and read any notices.

  • @infrared567 Still, for military.. its sloppy as hell..should be the same no matter what it is for...always flawless

  • @MrGixxerjay I have to disagree with you, please tell me why it is sloppy...

  • @MrGixxerjay How is this sloppy? Yes it's not as disciplined and planned out like the Arlington Cemetery guard change, but Britain can do things their own way.

And stop being a ignorant dick your making our country look bad with people like you.

  • Do these guards actually have to defend the castle?

  • The Guard on the very right at the biggining looks like a kid no more than 16. It "looked" sloopy but actually they did well and are actually guarding. The corporal looked like he could use some disicpline over the sentries.

  • The corporal you mentioned is a lance corporal

  • This was disappointing. I have seen the guard in real life, not them changing, but they looked confused.

  • This wasn't the big guard change at Buckingham, some places it's a great ceremony (same in Edinburgh Castle). This was just... a.. small shift change!

  • @roxormysoxor Does not matter, in the USA a ceremony would be the same wether it be IMPORTANT as you say or just a shift change, it would be flawless

  • @roxormysoxor more like someone had to use the potty.

  • They look undesciplined

  • Nice hat :)!

  • nice hair :D

  • they seriuosly fuck up the guns it looks gay with the uniform

  • its because they are actually guarding the tower.

  • u say that but do u know why they have that uniform ?

  • Sorry but ugly changing!!!Nothing especialy except the weapons!!!But come on traditional uniform with new weapons sorry!!!

  • Stop trolling all the videos of the guards swapping sentries.

I don't mean to be rude, but unlike the Evzones, these guys have a functional purpose in guarding the Sovereign Palaces.

  • I think I hear the ravens of the Tower shrieking in the background...man, they have an ugly call...

  • I'd expect better from a European.

  • It's just a quick guard change. There's no need for fancy drills or rifle spinning, which you Americans seem to be very fond of.

Unlike the 'professional' and more specialised drill teams of the USA, by which I mean they train day in and day out for ceremonial performances for a couple of years. These guys have to balance training to go to war as well as preparing for public and ceremonial duties.

  • To identify the fact that they are modern fighting troops who are not just a show-piece, they carry up-to-date weapons which they fight with.

In contrast, their specialised American 'counterparts', which you so wrongly compared them to, have an almost pure ceremonial role. They carry the M1 Garand and other more traditional weapons like the Springfield and what have you.

Naturally, a more professional team with more training will fair better against one without as much training.

  • they've got bayonets lol

  • lmao, watch trooping the colour mate, then decide how sloppy they are

  • Ye olde Guard white ye Olde Tapor rifles XD

  • neat.

  • Do you have ADHD or you can you hold the damn camera still?

  • This must be so boring...i dont wanna attack your great British culture but this job(is it a job?) is worse then prison. It must be Honour for a Brit to guard the british palace but i would puke if i had it.

  • Its a duty, which is why it is carried out by members of the British armed forces. They are assigned to this post (I believe). Therefore they HAVE to do it.

  • its not every British soldier who has to take a turn of guarding the palace. Its is the jobs of the guards regiments, such as the grenadier guards, coldstream guards etc, they all take turns in guarding the palace, rather than every regiment in the british military having a go at it. But i have to say i think your right, i would find it a great honor to guard the palace, but i can see others, who haven't grown up with it can see how painful it can be.

  • omg Guys...Britain is third at government in EU and EU is the overpower.

  • the Red coats are far better than the American soldiers... thats why England won the Revolutionary War. oh wait...

  • The British were definitely better than the Americans.

You wouldn't have won your revolution had it not been for the French and their entire fucking army and navy. Not forgetting the massive amounts of firearms given to you by the French.

  • The French sent so much help that it played a part in sparking the French revolution.

  • tapedaug fact is Britain did win the American revolution.

    Youve just been lied to.

  • Okay buddy.... just keep telling yourself that...

  • tapedaug clearly Great Britai did win the aercan revoultion.

If Britain didnt then why would USA ide on command inbthe opium war WW1 and Ww2?

I suggest youre republican filth who doesnt understand chain oif command.

Ie. thats what this video is all about.

    Dieing in command.

  • Work on your spelling mate

  • hi262779 you daft fucker.

    LOL

  • not as amazing as the american soldiers

  • They are rightfully amazing in their own way.

  • american soldier dont march they just walk in a line

  • Idiot Im sure the Guards could take on any American Regimant

Don't judge A book by its colour inebriated fool

  • God damn American youth. Show some respect.

  • Why are you such a blithering American bigot?

  • rofl they're called bearskins

  • it not a afo it a bear skin hat

  • The guards look so lazy and are not enthusiastic about what they are doing !!

  • Russian guard changing in Kremlin looks more Expressive !

  • Except that these soldiers are just guarding the Tower of London not a tomb/monument.

  • As to guarding the Tower vs. a tomb. Thomas More, so many others, it is practically a tomb.

  • the tall one in this picture is actually me... any questions let me know x

  • are you serious? That'd be kind of neat :D

  • Why would they carry around 10lb guns for nothing? Their weapons are loaded with live ammunition, so if all else fails they can fire.

The Queen's Guards have prior military training, and guarding is just one of their duties.

  • i know this. im joining the British army myself. and the armys careers office have told me everything. its 50/50, they can go and be a queens quard they are also infantry/royal artillery soldiers. but i thought they cant fire into a crowd of people if one person just decides to walk in.

  • It's really weird to be standing still one moment then blowing up insurgents the next.

  • lol sure is

  • Well, This is just only a Ceremonial Rifle and it is used for ceremonial duties.

  • The Guards pride themselves on having never had a ceremonial rifle for Guard duty, they have always used the weapons that are used in combat at that date.

  • i know about these but theres one thing i'm quite not sure on, their there to protect, so if some one just strolls in what are they supposed to do. i know there not aloud much movement so, do they chase after him or a radio in the hat? lol. can some1 tell me?

  • Radio in the hat? lmao.

  • i think they are aloud to shoot
