  • grosssssssssssssss

  • reply to MrBluegrassfiddler

The first tune is known as "Hardiman's Fancy"; I know the tune very well because I have an old tape of the famous Galway-based Shaskeen band ("Atlantic Breeze").

  • @sergeant0007

It's The House in the Glen or The Morning Lark (among other titles). Search at the irishtune or thesession websites. Youtube won't allow me to post the URLs, but after the dot they are info and org, respectively.

  • i just love he way he ays her name at he start "Sorragha" most people say this name like sor-sha or sorka but the irish way is so much nicer :D

  • Anyone know the name of the first tune? The overall rendition is such a well-done work, expressive, lively, and impressive. Bravo. Nice fiddle too. Great backup by her brother.

  • Absolutely the best fiddling on YouTube ,incredible talent, would love to hear her play a few reels

  • WOO! is it wierd for an asian to get hooked up in irish music , this is just beautiful

  • In reply to NPC919..

I play the fiddle and You have to be focused because if your trying to smile and be distracted..You will make a mistake..!

  • dats really good great rytham

  • Well done Sorchadha..! Amazing stuff..!! O ya dis is Aisling H..!!! x

  • I really enjoyed this! What are the tunes? Really nice.... Lord Bless,

    Alan

  • sorry i meant to say mary macNamara! =)

  • Mar McNamara is her mam! =)

  • it's pretty hard to get facial expressions whie playing, especially looking at sheet music. Once you got it down and memorized that's where you add the fun ;)

  • Hiya!

lol bet u dont remember me....i am sacha...remember?..i used to go over to your house when we were wee! like 7 or 8 and then i moved to scotland?? :D your SOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!

  • How come young Violinists (And many Mature ones) Seem to be playing the instrument with a gun to there head... They always look too focused =s I know that's fairly obvious with Younger ones but with older pro's tis' rather confusing... Oh well.

  • I agree! Usually one's face reflects one's emotions and I don't know why you wouldn't be happy when playing music like this :-)

  • I know! With guitar and bass and so on people are clearly lost in the music... With violin they just look like "Dude, I don't wan't to be here ¬ ¬" xD

  • we do enjoy our music!! with us violinists our expression is through our music not our faces!!

  • Yeah I know =/ Just you can get away with just looking as though your thinking "Oh! Damn that sounds good!"

I know it might not be as easy to show it but still.. They just look like "GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!" Waaay to focused :P

Still, lovely music and no offence to these peoples talent =]

  • very easy to look that way i cant smile when i play i alwasy mess up if i do cus it takes alot of concenntration most people cant talk mor ethen a few words when playing

  • I'm not asking for a smile, a smile is rare.

Just there's not even a hint or anything.

Just look at here face! It's like she's falling asleep :s

    I just can't feel anything, that's all.

  • I play the fiddle and I know how hard it is to alter the expression on your face when you're playing...it's practically impossibe!!the girl in the video looks focused when she's playing and she's lucky whereas I know that when I'm playing I look like I'm gonna murder someone!!It's just the expression of concentration! :)

  • I know some fiddlers who play like they're having a great time!! Beautiful playing, Sorcha, nontheless....

  • @NPC919

to all those who comment on the facial expression of trad Irish players - it's the custom to maintain a neutral expression so as not to visually distract from the intensity of the music itself - ideally, you'd be better off as a listener to close your eyes or look at the ground so you could better lock into the hypnotic mood of the music.

It's a bit like classical ballet - would you expect the ballerina to have a grin on her face the whole time?

  • Excellent, really good stuff. Especially Cliffs Of Moher, real old-style Clare fiddling (apart from one teeny-weeny trendy bit thrown in there).

  • she's from clare, what did u expect?

  • very good from a talented young fiddle player
