Ironically, Bowser is likely the easiest boss in the game relative to his levels.

He takes a bit more patience though...

I remember this game.. It was the first one I ever beat. BTW NintendoCult I'm sure you know you can beat Bowser with fireballs. It takes 36-38 hits to kill Bowser. I've done it quite a few times. You did well in this battle. 5/5

Yes dude, i know... And takes only 5 or 6 hammers if my memory is good but it's relatively hard to keep hammers until the battle with Bowser... That means that you must pass all the castle without being touched. (Sorry for my bad english, i usually speak french).

I hear you dude. It is a tad tricky to keep the hammer suit I sometimes have trouble with it myself...But such is life I guess. Mario 3 was the first game I ever beat in all of my gaming history. Thanks for replying to my comment and I understand your english just fine :)

i don't if its in the all-star version but if you make it through the castle with the power wing, once you get to the room with bowser fly over the left brick wall off screen a bit and get to an area with nothing in it. Then fly back to face bowser and he can't spit fireballs.

thi is one classic game allright, and the music in Bowsers word is pretty much stuck on my mind. I was never able to beat that first castle in the "SHadow Lands" (that's what i call Bowsers area where it's all dark so that you only see Mario and the directions you can go next) so i never got here, although my brother beat him, had this save-file with like 86 extra lifes

You have two ways to go to bowser. The low one takes a bit more time, but has a row of bricks less than the other way.

You do know that there's a trick to get Bowser to stop blowing fire. As soon as you enter his room you must fly towards the wall to the left. When you get to the top, you will be off screen, run to the left for about a minute then run back and fight Bowser. He should stop blowing fire.
