  • Lol @ all these people trying to critique him. He's only nine...

  • Needs to work on his tone production. It's rather harsh sounding and forced. Good fingers though.

  • his parents probably made him write "my parents did not force me to play it"

  • 'Tis a sin to hide one's talent beneath a bushel basket. This display is a blessing unto all- even if I am an agnostic.

  • How old are you?

  • :O

  • ok so i thout this kid was going to like suck and some Simon judge was going to make him cry........ 2 sec later after he began i was like whait what?!? ...... ohh yahh i forgot hes asian

  • Is this photoshoped?!?!?! Wow this guy's a beast!

  • he's butt is really big. what if while he's playing the butt gets so big it developes a brain and cralls out from under him and runs away then he'll fall 5 inches and break a hip probably omg that would be so funny ;]

  • @pianogirlshopaholic why would you post something so stupid? why would a kid breaking his hip be funny? why does his butt even matter? he's 9.

  • @pianogirlshopaholic you're sooo jealous. If you weren't upset, there would be no reason to say that.

  • @pianogirlshopaholic this is probly coming from a 4 yr old. :)

  • 83 people are jealous. (* ̄m ̄)

  • AMAZING!

  • ☺ not as crazy as the 5 yr old girl

  • You are awesome.

  • wow....

What talent.... It is really amazing.

  • Good God! Hes great!

  • Ive been watching a few videos of piano players and they have chair quite far out is it normal to have the chair right near the piano? please answer my question i know it sounds stupid but i just want to know.

  • @BekiiTheSinger I've been playing for about 2 years (I know, this is nothing compared to others) and I used to find it tricky at times to use the pedals. I mentioned this to my teacher, and she said I need to sit a little further back, as it can be quite uncomfortable otherwise. It's strange, as I always thought that being closer would be more comfortable. As well as the pedals, it also means your arms are in more comfortable position. Hope this helps with your question :)

  • Dude that was mad like i can play the piano but not that good well i do practise every day and stuff but i just can't seem to learn very fast. lol. anyways great vid and stuff!

  • how long do you play the piano per day?thanks

  • i love the fact that you weren't forced to play the piano. i was and i turned out okay, but this shows that if your heart is in it, you can go great lengths. although i expected nothing more from an asian

  • Brilliant !!!!! Never misses a pulse!

  • i could play this and im 10 (ok i only 1 year older then HIM)

  • AYSHUN HAVE BIG ASS! Nice playing :)

  • western people are fortunate, asians as they portray are heartless people, i wish they force their children too to hack with a razor sharp swords all caucassians who will come to their country

  • I wish I were that good :( But your videos help me :D

  • wow, first he sat like peacefully and then boom!

  • JAJAJA , HE'S REALLY CRAZY :D

  • Ur playing is pretty brutal, hope your teacher's gonna attend to that. Too much fingers in the play, i'd say. You're young, but it's gonna be a problem later on.

  • @xActum We agree on this- brutal. His fingers are way too high and his playing is charm-free. Left hand is too heavy. His tone is quite brittle. Posture is bad-needs to sit higher. Find a teacher who has taste and can teach French music properly!

  • @maestrojimbo Dude, he is 9 years old.

  • @maestrojimbo Well, I guess he's really caught up in the music? You can see him swaying back and forth as he plays which is a bad habit and leads to as you said a bad posture. He's also probably nervous which made him make a few rookie mistakes such as the finger positions and how hard he cam down on the keys. Taste has nothing to do with teaching french music and the fact that it's french has nothing to do with his performance. It was a good performance for his age group.

  • @0oAfshanao0 Oh, so you don't think taste has anything do do with French music - huh? There is a French style - my teacher studied with Isidore Philip in Paris and there IS a tradition which you aren't aware of, I guess. Juist sayin'....

  • @maestrojimbo Apparently you don't know how to read. I said that taste has nothing to do with TEACHING french music. In the end it IS just music and technically speaking anyone with the right degrees can teach music. I'm starting to wonder whether you're solely commenting on this video to bash on a 9 year old. You're evidence seems rather weak and since I don't know who you are, I can only assume you're a child with a need for attention. Also, your ending,Just sayin' did not help prove your point.

  • @0oAfshanao0 Look up 9 yr old Kit Armstrong playing Mozart Concerto No. 23 if you want to hear a well-trained 9 yr old play with taste. Maybe it will help you develop a taste for how music should sound.

  • @maestrojimbo So essentially you're not listening to the music rather than just comparing to someone else? Well that's nice to know. There is obviously going to be someone who's better than the others but that doesn't mean that the others are crap. -.-

  • @0oAfshanao0 This IS a competition you idiot. He IS being compared to others as we watch and listen. You sooooo don't know crap. There are such things as standards. This boy has potential and loves to play. It's too bad he's not getting better coaching - that's what I do for a living and I am good at it. I graduated from a top school-Juilliard-.You obviously have a need to defend and reward mediocrity (not the boy's playing, the TEACHING!). GET IT?

  • @maestrojimbo Yes well have you heard any of the other competitors? The only thing that ticked me off was your complete narrow minded comment about getting a teacher with TASTE. Teaching techniques has nothing to do with the teachers TASTE in music. I seriously DOUBT you do this for a living and if you do well kudos to you but you of all people should know better than to judge!

  • @0oAfshanao0 All you need to do is visit my channel - my students have won International competitions, appeared on the Letterman Show, played with professional orchestra, etc. Your bitchy, doubting comments are irritating and show how obstinate you are. Do you have ANY background in music? Looks and sounds like you're a rocker!

  • @maestrojimbo Wow... you just proved to me how stupid you are. Judging someone based on their music preferance? God that was just sad. I've been playing in an orchestra for over 3 years and have been taught by 2 amazing conductors and we have had this talk before. No matter how good the teacher is, if the student does not practice or give any effort, they're gonna suck. It's funny how you're still judging and completely disregarding the whole point. I'm not even upset anymore, I feel pity.

  • @0oAfshanao0 You make no sense -. I have NO respect for your opinion you stupid dim bulb. You have nothing to back your reasons for defending this mediocre performance. Your opinions "SUCK" -. Dumb ignorant fools like you shouldn't base their opinion without any knowledge to back it up. You've said nothing which shows you understand music values and you are not even a pianist! . I have a Masters in CONDUCTING and PIANO from Juilliard. Which Junior College are you attending?

  • @maestrojimbo argumentum ad verecundiam?

  • Comment removed

  • @maestrojimbo Will you just get out of your own little self centered bubble for once? I'm not defending him, I just don't agree that the taste of a teacher has anything to do with how they teach people. You know what, you win. I'm in no position to persuade someone who doesn't want to even hear anything else besides their own voice. I'm done arguing since it's completely pointless and a waste of both of our times. No hard feelings? Have a nice day, congratz on your masters. =)

  • @0oAfshanao0 "I just don't agree that the taste of a teacher has anything to do with how they teach people." Really? That's about the stupidest thing I've read on youtube. Let's get back to this Chabrier Waltz. It's a piece not played often but I have played it for about 25 years. My teacher, who studied with the great Josef Lhevinne and Isidore Philip taught this to me when I was 20. I think this performance was a "noles only" performance - harsh, no grace, empty. Congrats on your GED.

  • Ur playing is pretty brutal, hope your teacher's gonna attend to that. Too much fingers in the play, i'd say.

  • Um, actually, Asians are forced to do things like this.. Some what.. like, let's say a child's parents discover that piano is his/her talent. then they'll want him to continue with this. They train this child for piano to be their life. it brings honor to their family, so they are actually forced to do things like this. They really have not that easy of a life. You may think "Oh, i wish i was asian so that i could be smart like that." but you have to realize that nothing comees free and easy.

  • very cool kid, I hope you keep playing

  • Wow finally a young player that understands the emotion of music and not a robot.

  • Asians, ya gotta love em'

  • Cool!!!! I love the piano and I can play... but my emotions always seem so off... Haha anyways AmAzInG!!!!

  • @alexawesomeness5

    me too....:)

  • wow, you are great at piano...... unfortunately, I stunk at it, but I like it (also I am chinese). I have been playing piano for 1 year, and uh...... I am terrible at it...... still learning, my newest song is Rondo Alla Turca by Mozart. also, any tips on piano?

  • Very good. Keep at it.

  • truely gifted child.... lve it!!!!!! <3

  • LMFAO, I'll say it once again. listen to all these FAT, LAZY, SELF RIGHTEOUS AMERICANS. So utterly jealous it's not even funny. Please, don't talk about bullshit like "Chinese abuse their children and make them practise all day". Abusing children? Please.... how come everytime I see on the news about somebody molesting a little kid it's always a FAT, LAZY WHITE AMERICAN? The same FAT, LAZY, WHITE AMERICAN that comes here and posts the same bullshit about Chinese. FAT, LAZY, AMERICANS.... GTFO.

  • @Chakiejan Damn it dude its the truth, the only thing that asians have and that americans don´t have is discipline. This child practices at least 4 hours a day and he does it cause he enjoys playing the piano its his passion, his talent. When Asians succeed in something it´s because it´s their talent and the hours of practice. I bet we americans can be as good as asians if we put just a bit of discipline and dedication to what we like.

    -Colombian 13 year old boy.

  • @frunasxl Who cares if you're a thirteen year-old Colombian? I agree with your comment, but for what reason did you inform us of your culture and age?

  • @frunasxl I whole heartedly agree.

  • @frunasxl wtf? ethnicity has nothing to do with discipline.

  • @frunasxl what the me and my teacher only does 1 hr!

  • @frunasxl

    Stereotyping is cool...

  • @frunasxl Thanks. There's finally one person that doesn't say, "that fucking little robot"

  • the beginning sounded lik he was playing string instrument o.o

  • Very energetic player - I like it!

  • ohh i can only imagine the hardships those fingers went through.

  • holy balls

  • He's so into it, great job!!!

  • very niiiiice :D

  • my face was like :O the whole time

  • Why can we not just appreciate the persons talent? U r just jealous AH

  • From china.... Weird

  • Rondeboschcommon - you kind-of make a valid point. Kids *are* sponges, but to this degree, particularly the *feeling* and sense of timing that they learn how to play this stuff is waaay beyond simple prodigy sponges.. Chabrier, Schumann, Schubert, et al, are super hard for even an adult to play...All over the keyboard really quickly, and stretching fingers super far at the same time...

You're amazing, Terry! Keep it up!

  • So talented!

  • Funny how every American kid thats brilliant at something is a prodigy and all asian kids just get forced...

    You can not force tallent.

  • @Volcomrider2207 i was not forced to play an instrument. im asian.

  • @Emmatigress No you dident get me. I said If a asian kid is very good at something most people say that they get forced...

  • @Volcomrider2207 'all asian kids just get forced???' Please... define "all" :-)

  • Wow this is amazing! You sure are talented. What this just shows is that if anyone practices and sets their mind to something, they can acheive it. You, my friend, are an amazing piano player and I strive to be like you. You truly are an inspiration.

  • Great job!

  • Made in china Hhahaha

  • asian... shocker

  • wow... hes 9??!!!

  • dude i remember when i rocked that same exact bowl cut at his age. Amazing skill. BRAVO

  • ahhh cheez man that's saaad he got pinged off... YOU ARE AMAZING!!! KEEP IT UP :D

  • wow congrats! my parents dont force me to play piano in fact they have to pull me away from it and pull the plug from it so i cant play!! :O i think its a great thing to be skilled at as many are not. keep up the good work !! :O

  • @Friedpicklessmellbad lol, if you got a non electronic one, theres no way they can stop you, unless of physical forces...

  • I can't wait until people stop being amazed at young people who play instruments...it's nothing new. Everyone should know kids have sponges for brains, and with practice and dedication any kid could pick up and play this well. It's just not common for kids to be that dedicated or interested in a certain thing. That's why you dont see that many "prodigies". This is nothing. It is more impressive to me to see some old guy who's never played the instrument, practice for a few years and nail a solo.

  • I play the piano, but i have started only a few months ago and I am more of a rock pianist, but i still like this and please check out my vid of what ive done by linking park!!!

  • "Masterful" Great Work

  • OMG....WTF

  • what is this song?

  • Trying being 25 and feeling like you just got schooled by a 9 year old! :) Fantastic!

  • omg! ur really good! I'm 17 and play nowhere close to your level! Don't feel bad about the nike socks though. I had a picture from a recital I was in and I had on the same ones with a nice dress and shoes. lol

  • I admit I misread one of Volcanic9's posts and attacked him unfairly, but my point remains: kids in Asia want to succeed. Nerds are effectively considered cool in Asia. Its a different culture. Yes, there is pressure, but physical abuse? I don't agree.

  • @rondeboschcommon Agree completely. You can't force someone to play the piano like that. That is natural ability crossed with a wanting to be the best he can possibly be.

  • @rondeboschcommon Nerds are effectively considered cool in Asia??? No, not true at all. We just do the best we can at something we like.

  • @rondeboschcommon its actually not that nerds are "cool" there is a different concept of life in general, there arent cool people and nerds, or losers, its above that stupid concept; everyone wants to succeed in life, and understands that to do so he has to study hard, in our culture, half of the students dont give a shit about school! and that is why in a few years, China is going to be the economic giant, with no comparison at all.

  • howz your jazz impro?

  • this makes me wish my parents would have pushed me more, Theyve always said they want me to take an intrament or sprot but when I finnaly get into it or find something I like, something happens and my parents stop takeing me, even if it was something I acctualy liked, I miss pian lessons, I miss french horn lessons, I miss fencing, wtf?

  • tell him to play the halo song...

  • damn! asians --'

  • @magnosk1 lol ^_^

  • Americans are so envious of everybody, makes me sick to read their comments.

  • @woajiaorobert No we're not, we're genuinely weirded out by Asians. Besides, what if we are? Are you saying you don't wish you were beast at playing piano? Sorry for being a dreamer.
