As always, artists existence is based upon selfmarketing nonsense, selling it as "deep art".

Sure he has some points that he wanted to show, like the "birthsystem" etc., but overall its a pile of modern art shit.

I think this is clearly an offense against the old masters of art .

Or you can leave it be and interpret it however you want (isn't that the point of art). I'm not saying you have to like it, but rather I hope you realize the analytical influences of this particular art, Matthew Barney is highly influenced by a culture of media. The arts are interesting, whatever form they take...so I don't think you should rag on something you don't know anything about.

p.s- I'm not a fan of Barney..yet, I love art because its always progressing.

oh and also Barney spent 7 or 8 million on the making of the Cremasters combined, and only brought in 150 thousand from what he did. You may not want to quote me on the numbers, but I know for sure he spent A LOT and made very little because he intentionally only made a few available copies.

@ReneqtR How is this an offense to the old masters? Give us some examples, what masters, what period etc. Both Barney and the masters before him explore symbolism, the definition of beauty and self realization, spiritual and religious themes and symbolism etc.

You just don't get it and don't like his taste, so therefore you draw your naive deduction that he sucks.
