As for the singing and the murmuring, if you are talking general content, I would feel equally annoyed (or not annoyed) by either one. If you were talking about volume, the louder volume would annoy me more, whether the actual word content was religious or not.

Regarding the oath, those atheists who do believe in law have perfectly good reason to swear to tell the truth and to hold to that promise. That reason is the threat of legal punishment for lying under oath.
What reason would a religious person, who believes that 'God's' law is more important than man's law, have for not lying under oath, if they believed (rightly or not) that 'God' told them that they did have cause to lie to the court? As for the singing and the murmuring, if you are talking general content, I would feel equally annoyed (or not annoyed) by either one. If you were talking about volume, the louder volume would annoy me more, whether the actual word content was religious or not.

If a comment were directed at me personally, I would be just as annoyed by a rude comment that was religious in nature as I would be by one that was not religious in nature, no matter what the volume. I advise the use of headphones and good music, for just such occasions. :)

Regarding the oath, those atheists who do believe in law have perfectly good reason to swear to tell the truth and to hold to that promise. That reason is the threat of legal punishment for lying under oath.

What reason would a religious person, who believes that 'God's' law is more important than man's law, have for not lying under oath, if they believed (rightly or not) that 'God' told them that they did have cause to lie to the court? Note: That is not saying that 'God' did tell them to do so, but only that they believe 'he' did.

People who claim to be religious sometimes do come up with some pretty convoluted reasons as to why they did believe that the wrong thing that they did was what 'God' wanted. If it was not for the existence of religion, these people would not have had religion to use as an excuse, and rather than going ahead with the crime, under the belief of it being at 'God's' instruction, they might have realized that they were in need of mental help.

Don't quote me on this, but I think this is the fundamental basis of the atheist's general complaint in a nutshell: that religious people assume not only that atheists have no cause to exhibit good moral behavior, but also that all religious people are likely to necessarily exhibit good moral behavior.

Standing in market place and using free speech asking people to come to church on Sunday morning will be inconvenient for most secular minds to tolerate.
Similarly, if some one stays in front of a religious place to shout jesus or mohammad is fake will not be appreciated as free speech,what would you say to that?

Freedom of speech is undergoing newly defined tool to use it as a tool to attack, Which is fundamentally a defense to bring forth the wrong doings of the oppressor.
I don't see the freedom of speech coming from church or mosque in shielding off the media rhetorics against believers by gays or atheist.
For example this debate title by itself is racist and offensive,you may not agree.
It would be fine with me get argument rolling.

If freedom of speech does not include the right to verbally attack that which one is opposed to, then it is not freedom of speech, but is a command to silently accept. Again such a thing as verbal attack against belief can only seem to be offensive to those who perceive it as such, because the belief is theirs.

The assignation of any labels - other than that of human being - is in and of itself a dehumanizing practice. Human beings are individuals.
'The West' does not dehumanize 'Muslims' any more than does the actual Muslim religion itself. Nor is the Muslim religion innocent in terms of demonizing human beings, because it demonizes the non-believers, as well.

Anything that teaches people to identify in terms of 'we' and 'they' is dehumanizing. If it teaches that 'our way' is THE good way, then it is teaching that all 'other ways' are the bad way, and that those who follow other ways are therefore being bad. Such teaching is divisive and causes conflict, which is bad.

Maryam Namazie makes an excellent point at the end. She is absolutely correct in emphasising the importance of being able to criticise radical Islam without being labelled as a racist or Islamophobe.
