can't see any problems with the vid myself bob looks like it's up to the usual standards i know seeing a shed tour ain't the most exciting thing to see on tour but hey if it's going up lines they don't normally use then it is worth going out for :D
Never mind Bob,we all have to go through this from time to time,i have had it happen to me loads, still it is a good catch, but don't you hate the sound of the traffic,it does not seem as loud when you are stood near it..........John
@johnwood57 As you say John, these sorts of days go with our hobby, however, as this was one of the last excursions down this way this year...it was a little frustrating to say the least when just about everything that could go wrong went wrong......Still I'm over it now....and thanks for your continued support....Bob
Mae'n rhaid bod llawer ohonom yn dymuno bod cystal ag y byddwch ar eich 'gwaethaf' diwrnodau Bob. Nid wyf yn sicr ddim yn gweld unrhyw beth siomedig yma. Gwaith Nice ... Keith
Just one of those day`s Bob , shows you have a lot of patience, RHTT did give you a good salute as it passed, and 1Z65 did al least stop at the Stop Signe, and as said the clip at Loughor Bridge with the sunset is stunning. and the rear end looked very good.
I experienced some frustration chasing a rail-tour around recently so can sympathise.
This shows little evidence of a shortness of coverage. Arguably the shots near the end looking into the light aren't that good from a technical viewpoint but the result is very effective which is surely what counts.
@TimRuffle Thanks Tim, with regards to the last shot, I had intended to film from the South side of the bridge, however I received a call to say the train was entering Llandeilo Jnc 30 mns early, so had to settle for this location as on top of everything else the tide was too high to get to my preferred location....Bob
Still enjoyed this video as per your usual Bob! Although it's annoying how often we get struck with bad luck in this hobby, but that's what makes it all the more rewarding in my opinion. Greg.
Funny how things don't go to plan but still turn out watchable Bob. I know the frustrations only too well and although you know what might have been that's not how we see it! Chris
You did well Bob and well done for persevering. The final clip of Loughor Bridge is still a nice one in the sunset. Love the horns from the RHTT! The fun of being a railway photographer eh?!
I really enjoyed watching. I think it turned out great. Of coarse you know what I would do turn it into 4 or 5 videos and spread it out over weeks lol
@ervans Thanks Ervan, I just wanted to get this one out of the way...The longer videos are becoming more popular now..although not to everyone's taste....Bob
Bob, Spectacular scenery makes up for any shortfalls on this video and with the musical horn sequence on the opening shot I'd say the drivers know you. Regards, John
Nothing wrong with this Bob. Very enjoyable. That shot at Cefn Coed you could always rewind the film and pretend its going the other way!! The state on the 66's on the RHTT train as well. Dear me. Always a pleasure watching your films Bob so don't you dare stay at home!!!.......Tim.
@siobhan104 I'm very humbled by all these kind comments Tim, so thanks for that. I wish I'd thought of reversing the Cefn Coed Shot....good idea. Those RHTT trains are on the go 24 hrs a day and certainly show signs of having earned their keep every year....Bob
I'm sure many can relate to your problems Bob, I know I certainly can and its so frustating when things don't go to plan. Some nice shots though nevertheless and your tale definitely brought a smile to my face on a Sunday morning. I must say 'The Valley of the Witch' is a cracking name for a train.
Some great shots there, Bob. Didn't the tour to Cwmbargoed that you filmed, do the same thing and terminate at the STOP notice? Were you tempted at all to film the train changing ends at Llandeilo Jc? Mind you, the cut off road (near the wildfowl centre) to that bridge has been gated off lately
@JPMiller14 What threw me Justin is that tours years ago always came as far as where I was standing, so must remember for the next time. I wanted to film it at Loughor to get some footage before the Bridge is dismantled next year, and it would have been too tight to do both as the train was 30 mins early through Bynea. In the end it was held at Llandilo jnc for over an hour.....so what can you do!....Bob
@robmasterman I see. Yes, waiting near Trostre for over an hour would have been very annoying. What will be the plan for trains to Swansea when Loughor Bridge is dismantled? The District line will only be any good for getting people to the Briton Ferry area!
@JPMiller14 Hmm An original option was outlined in wanting to add stations at Loughor or Waunarlyd and Cockett along with stations along the Swansea District line (aka New Line) as part of the Swanline expansion scheme. Some of these ideas were far-fetched mainly because the New Line doesn't link directly into Swansea but when the major Loughor bridge engineering works takes place, trains would have to use it.
@EMuksteam Thanks both, these things are sent to try us, but with so little happening, you want to have an enjoyable day...but no doubt I will get over it..:o))....Bob
@mvjedforest That's kind of you Mervyn....there were times when a safety valve on the top of my head would have helped....but I've cooled down now.....Bob
@bobnweaver That's it Jeff I should have filmed just the scenery and not bothered with the trains...the mountains don't move, or move too slowly in front of you.....Bob
I know that sinking feeling too, when the brakes are applied and you're too far away. The roads up there are also too twisting for overtaking and I also know my little ( and mature ) legs are not made for sprinting trackside. But still you captured the event..thanks for another good newsreel
@TheMichaelWilcock Thanks Mike, are we getting too old for rushing around, or just becoming grumpy old men?.....Must keep taking those tablets.....Bob
If this is one of your worst uploads Bob, it still knocks spots of most others on YT - As I began reading your description, I felt your frustration, I was smiling to myself, but only because I can picture you, and know that I would be feeling the exact same way myself, a proper "Grrrrr" moment... ha ha including the old couple with only 2 gears. :-)
Having said all that, just look at the video content and landscapes, say no more, it ticks the boxes for me.
@Bevoin1970 Always guaranteed to lift me up Paul, and I'm grateful for that....I wish I could have captured all that went on it would have had you in stitches...including me!....Bob
Thanks for this Bob and well done for your perseverance! Many a person wouldn't have bothered to upload it but you have some magnificent scenery in your clips and the RHTT was fairly shifting along! The charter shots were very good it's just a pity the train pulled up short on the first clip but you weren't to know that. Thanks for sharing it. Ken
@kenbrowne1947 Thanks Ken, you know what it's like, you plan your day and all sorts of unexpected things stop it being as successful as you'd like....But that's what this wonderful hobby of ours is all about, perseverance, tolerance and the ability to stay calm....none of these attributes I posses..:o((.....Bob
