@gamereviewsfully when you place a bucket of lava or water on the ground it makes a solid cube of water/lava that generates more, after he placed it the generating block was still their. hope that helps

it works a lot easyer with a diamond pick axe you can only brake obsidian with a diamond pick axe and you can just place the blocks down the down side of using a diamond pick axe is that it takes a long time to brake obsidian i did not even think of doing what you did so that was smart :)

The only issue with making a portal this way is the fact that it takes an awful lot of Iron if you want to make it quick, or just 3 Iron and a lot of patience.

They can't destroy your portal so you're safe haha. They only turn the fire out, you can always put the fire back.
