MSNBC and Fox News are shameful. They both cannot be considered legitimate news stations, as their primary purpose is to push partisan beliefs which serve as gasoline to the fire which is the political climate in this country. There will always be differences of opinion, which is what makes democracy great. To lose our composure and engage in vicious character assassinations is to put ourselves on on a fast track to political unproductively, which we are seeing played out in congress now.
Noticed how Ari F said at the end of the video "After 911 how can we be assured that Sadam won't strike AGAIN"...as if he striked us already. Another far-right attempt to link Sadam to 911. The real question should not be whether we're better off without Sadam, but rather was it worth it. Was it worth 1000s of US soldiers dead or wounded, not to mention the Iraqi people. Was it worth the cost? The right thinks our strategy should be to prempt a POTENTIAL threat by an invasion. Foolish!
Ari cant shut his mouth, can he? He will always be remembered, hopefully, for running to the feds and get immunity in the Valerie Plant CIA exposure scandal.
What is it about antisemite libs who use the Hitler and his henchmen card. It's just not intelligent which is the basis for anyone that uses these type of arguements. Loelyrrabb .... if Bush was who you claim him to be the first one he would have gassed is you. Stick to the topic. Your boy got schooled by Ari.... a Jewish American Republican. Better stick with Michael Moore. By the way, I thought Obama was going to close Guatanamo Bay? I guess that makes him Idi Amin following your rationale.
@marinatom1 Ist, I can't be an antisemite, namely because I'm a Jew. Like 80% of my fellow Jews I am a lib,and proud of it. Stick to the topic? I'll be the judge of what the topic is, got that? And the topic is and always will be the great harm done to MY country by the right wingers. Bush,& his lemmings, you included, committed the worst foreign pol.blunder in US history. You bastards threw away the lives of 6K troops and 1.3 mil Iraqis. to kill Hussein. We didn't get our money's worth u fucker
Towards the end of the video, Ari says "After September 11th, having been hit once, how can we take a chance that Saddam might not strike again." AGAIN? C'mon, Ari...grow some balls!
@akamyrt Ari is the Jewish Josef Goebbels, who was Hitler's propaganda minister. Ari plays that role for his master Bush, and will do so for the rest of his miserable life. Ari, you are a fucking disgrace to Jewish people. I wish for you a big ass heart attack. Croak you bastard!
RIGHT. Bill Clinton caused the Iraq War, Arie. HA.
I suppose everyone ELSE was responsible – except those in the Bush administration that was SELLING IT HARD to the American people from the DAY-AFTER-9/11. The NEOCONs.
Man, you must think that REWRITING history is so easy. But the Americans and the WORLD already know who is FULLY TO BLAME in the longest, failed, unpaid for wars in US history. And it ain't Clinton.
Chris Mathews is a wanna be left wing answer to the rights Bill O'Reilly with the exception that he is not as bright. I find it humerous in how people listen and comment that in this debate Mathews actually succeeded in his views against Ari Fleischer. Fleischer is unflappable and too intelligent for the antics of Chris Mathews. I used to watch Mathews because he seemed to be middle of the road and took on politicians on both sides of th aisle. But, he sold out. Total left wing hack.
@marinatom1 Yep, Fleischer was unflappable, but so was Josef Goebbels in selling the homicidal policies of HIS boss Adolph Hitler. Mathews showed you what kind of lying double talker little Arie is when he asked him about the economic mess W left behind.Answer,"Bush kept us safe" In fact, when Bush left office, only 22% of America approved of his horrendus record in office.Fleischer, along with Bush,Cheney,Rummy, the neo con war mongers, Rice, Powell and more, should be on trial for war crimes.
@marinatom1 Remember making this imbecilic remark? Fleischer unflappable? So is a trained seal! Ari just may be the most disgusting propagande minister in US history. I have no doubt that if Bush ordered Fleischer to shoot himself in the head, Ari would salute his fuher and blast away!
what was it? 14 of the 18.. 9/11 hijackers were saudi. osama bin laden is saudi. osama was cia , bush family was in business with the bin laden family, geo bushs' failed business bailed out by a bin laden, bush ignores briefing outlining 9/11 attack, bin ladens flown out of usa "AFTER" 9/11 attack, !! so the american govt attacks the responsible party...IRAQ?? thank God some of us (americans) are not blinded by bigoted patriotism.bush kept us safe "AFTER" he let over 3000 of us needlessly die
@skillet54 Just found your post from 6 months ago. Damn good pasting you put on those bastards who tossed away the lives of our soldiers in Iraq &Afgh like so much trash. I'd prefer Hussein being alive than the toll we suffered:5K US dead, 100K,wounded,300K W/PTSD,300K more with brain damage and 3 to 4 tril down the drain. Iraq, was the worst foreign policy blunder in US history. Bravo skillet!
@Loejyrrab thanks my friend...the writing is on the wall...all anyone need do is research the P.N.A.C. documents and look at their membership list..when you see that most of bushs' cabinet were members and its obvious that bush was carrying out their plan...on top of that, you see their plan was developed in the early 1990's..it does not take a rocket scientist to see the mideast wars were planned well b4 9/11..it just took getting ppl like cheney/bush in ofc 2 carry it out...peace!
It is in our founding documents for the press to be free - the idea was for you to help keep the people informed. People look up to you & you purposefully lie to them to push your agenda for you believe you know better. Is it that or are we too stupid that we can only get filtered information from you? You're closing remarks in this interview are childish, to say the least. To not give an invited guest the courtesy of the last word speaks volumes of your character.

"I am glad that we no longer have administration that think that way.the American people are happier..we don't like that thinking anymore in this country"
Chris please don't group the rest of the country in with your poorly supported and biased views. You're nothing but a journalistic hack that will only report one side of the story. Not only is this dishonest but it's unAmerican.
"W" kept us safe after 9/11, the Obama administration is not doing "Jack Shit" to keep the United States safe!!! Oh yeah, Matthews you are a "TOOL"!!!
Ari looks like the Joker when he smiles. Too bad he's not as honest and law-abiding.
Google "Freedom Haters Ignorant People" for more info on the right wing battle against intelligence! Sarah Palin speaks out at a Rally for Stupidity: "Gosh. I think Obamaducation is evil. Golly."
Haha, Barack Obama is better off without Saddam Hussein. Yeah, Saddam was SUUUUUUUCH a hassle for America, what with the whole not attacking us, not supporting terrorism, not attack Israel, and being completely regionally neutered by our no-fly zone and constant military overwatch. The world suffered nothing from Saddam's existence, the United States has suffered enormously as a result of going after him.
Mathews is clearly biased and unfair...he says we got attacked on Bush watch...when Ari tells him would he say if we got attacked under President Obama would he say we got attacked on his watch Mathews says "no"...it just shows Mathews is obsessed with attacking the GOP all the time
Fleischer shits on Matthews so hard that Matthew's cameraman laughs at Chris, thanks to Ari, pulling out words beyond Matthew's ability to recant like disingenuous...you may have to listen to this clip two or three times because Matthews only speaks when someone else has already started a sentence.
Ari resorts to allot of personal attacks when his back is against the wall.
Notice how whenever he's backed into a corner on the issue he immediately attempts to change the subject by attacking the interviewer directly. If the interviewer defends against the attack, than the issue itself is lost.
This is the mark of a man that knows his position on the issue is wrong.
It's strange how I see so much more of this from Republicans, both pundits and politicians. They must get training.
Calm down Redwine. Watch the language too. Bush messed up plenty of times...now doubt about that. We had no reason being in Iraq. Clinton also messed up and a lot of stuff happened on his watch. Blame can be shared by everyone.
And another thing....security and the protection of American Citizens cuts across political lines. It should not be a Republican vs. Democratic thing but unfortunately it is.
My first comment related to the title of the video being off base.
@Darren9077 YEA HE OWNED CHRIS A FUCKING REPORT GIVING TO BUSH SAID THAT WE WERE GOING TO GET ATTACKED AND THIS ASS HOLE DEFENDS NOT DOING SHIT WTF IS WRONG WITH THE GOP WILL THEY DEFEND DOG SHIT SMELLING GOOD IF BUSH SAID IT SMELLS LIKE ROSES!!!
I see it totally different: Matthews was wrong, rude to his guest and wouldn't even let him answer. Matthews is a joke ... spin, spin, spin. He's no Tim Russert, that's for sure.
Fleischer got hammered by Matthews! Wow. Especially amazing is this bit of psychotic thinking by Fleischer at 9:56: "The issue was, and I believe this still today, after September 11, having been hit once, how could we take a chance that Sadam might not strike again?" WTF. Sadam Hussein DIDN'T ATTACK US ON 9/11. IRAQ HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11. Fleischer is completely WRONG, and he doesn't even know it. We pre-emptively attack a nation that didn't pose any threat, and inherited a Vietnam!
Fleischer's tact of talking around questions, hurling insults, while refusing to answer and then asking counterquestions is NO PROBLEM for Matthews. Ha. What Chris knows, and Ari obviously forgot, is that this bit of tape is an indictment on Fleischer himself. Any intelligent person would wonder why Ari is so defensive, so combative to simple and direct queries? Because Aris answers would confirm the indictment on Bush, and although we already know the facts, Ari futility tries the subterfuge.
I'm not haapier "without that kind of thinking" Matthews gets called on the carpet at the end for his unsubstantiated accusations about Libya and Syria.
It's great when Chris Matthews gets stumped whether it's here or any other debate. He just goes dead silent and his own staff is laughing at him in the background.
"I wouldn't put the blame on his shoulders." Bullshit. If a Dem were in office, and Al Qaeda had perpetrated the largest domestic terror attack, WE ALL know what the line would be. He just really has incredibly weak, flimsy and "last resort" arguments. The fact his, the Bush administration was an abject failure on security and economics. Failure.
"You're a go???" - I didn't know the topic was about a space shuttle mission.
I'm not a fan of Ari but if you have ever understood what a debat is then you'd know Matthews was cleary beaten and appeared stumped at times based on his expressions and stalled responses.
You tell them, Ari! Except for the catastrophic events of 9/11, and the anthrax attacks, and terrorist attacks against U.S. allies, and the terrorist attacks against U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and Bush's inability to capture those responsible for 9/11, and waging an unnecessary war that inspired more terrorists, and the success terrorists had in exploiting Bush's international unpopularity, the former president's record on counter-terrorism was AWESOME!
WOW, I used to like Chris Matthews. I can't believe what a douche he was to A.F... Ari really turned his crap around and fed it back to him ! Nice job Ari !
Ari the facts are that the Bush Administration took the steps required to allow the 9/11 attacks to happen. Then Bush attacked a defenceless country, with a crippled economy, with absolutely no evidence of any connection to those 9/11 attacks or Al Queda or WMD's. Now the Bush revisionists keep lying about intellegence being wrong.
And now we learn that the Bush administration used torture on its detainees not to learn about terrorist plots against America, but to fabricate evidence of a link between Saddam's government and Al Qaeda.
efore the Bush administration there was a total of 22 terrorist attacks against the US. In the Bush administration alone there were 18. That means 45% of terrorist attacks against the US from 1920 until about now occurred during Bush's eight years as president. Bush did not keep us any safer than any other administration, if your going by attacks against America, we were in the most danger under Bush.
Things are getting so confusing it is crazy. The Chinese are going recklessly Capitalist and it shows! Their Economy is exploding while the environment and ethics go to hell. Here we are forced to socialize backs and industry that lost it mind under the Neocon Rule of the last 8 years and with aid of Spineless Demoncrats that aided and abetted them devils.
But he kept U.S. Safe!!! ROFL Basically burned our GDP in an unnecessary war against an impotent enemy that had nothing but a few caves, AK's and a loose network of admirers. In fact Cheney & Co left us 100k times less 'safe' than at any other time in our short history. But hey the Military Industrial Complex is getting no bid contracts and they still make stuff that goes into triple cost overruns!
I am surprised Neocons have not outsourced the production of the F-22 Raptor to China!
I like how Matthews is dead silent and starts to stutter at :50 when Fleisher righfully calls him out on if he'd claim an attack was on Obama's watch if we were hit again. Priceless!
Matthews is a hack. I think that tingle in his leg has rose up to his brain.
sounds like the ALCOHOLIC CHRIS MATTHEWS has fallen off the wagon AGAIN. Maybe the thrill is now running down his leg and the ALCOHOLIC jerk MATTHEWS just pissed himself.
The only reason why Bush kept you safe was because Dick Cheney and his scum bag friends didn't order another 911.Fleischer makes Pinocchio envious. We couldn't let Sadamn pull another 911 ? WTF ?
The PR campaign of these war criminal cocksuckers is ridiculous. No one believes them. Their little attempt at revisionist history is pathetic.
Fleisher belongs on the stand at the ICC.
Chris Mathews was a war cheerleader...now he wants to pretend he is riding with the people.
Even though I totally disagree with virtually everything the Bush Administration did over the past 8 years, Chris Matthews is an asshole and, along with his republican counterpart Bill O'Reilly, has helped lower the level of political discourse in this country.
Towards the end Ari wilfully repeats the lie that Saddam attacked us on 9/11! How dare he? This man is evil personified. Too bad Chris ran out of time. Ari and his Bushies sent more than 3,000 Americans to their death, as sure as if they'd pulled the trigger themselves. But let's come together and comfort our widows and orphans. Leave the Bushies to God's vengeance.
it IS an effective technique to frsutrate the opposition, and its frustrating to watch, but it doesnt make it any less cheap, and it doesnt make his points any less bullshit
Illyal1, Ari said "we made a mistake." Tell me in what universe does "we made a mistake" mean the same thing as "we were dishonest"? Sounds a bit like word twisting.
Mathews should have known that the August 6th CIA briefing mentioned AIRCRAFT, that's the HOW.... also, LIBYA did not have Nuclear weapons. They NEVER MET WITH RICHARD CLARKE either. And ARI FLEISCHER said at the tail end "we didn't want SADDAM to attack again"........... HE DID NOT ATTACK ON 9/11, so how could he attack 'again"?
ari f clearly a skilled debater.. but listen to his method.. he isnt as good as people are making out, he is simply talking over and usign cheap tactics. jon stewart would filet this guy
i didnt see the blowjob he gave, no.. is it on youporn? seems a bit uncharacteristic of stewart to dish out televisded felatio
howver, i did find this embarassing to watch. fleisher doesnt actually win any argument, he just interrupts and talks over the top as he pleases, then accuses matthews of not allowing him to speak when the positions reversed, and accuses matthews of twisting his words, then does exactly that followed by "shame on you" and similar stuff.. its not skillful, its just loud
I don't know what's the point of arguing. In a funny, mostly serious kind of way, I feel like I'm in some bad sci-fi movie where all the townspeople are brainwashed. Like really? Seriously? Forget for a moment your political allegieance, "The intelligence we received was wrong" is the same as "We were dishonest?" And not to be outdone, "We don't want the situation to turn from plume of smoke into a mushroom cloud" is the same as "Hurry! Saddam has Nukes and he's going to attack Tuesday! lol
Fleischer would gladly reverse all of his contentions if he was paid $1 more than what he is getting now to further his current agenda. I will gladly donate that dollar.
Matthews is so dumb that when he mentions in a smarmy tone that, "This election shows that America rejects the reasoning that led us to this war" he doesn't seem to realize there WAS an election that was all about Iraq. Duh. It was in 2004 and Bush beat Kerry. Every debate was about Iraq and the reasons for invading in 2004. Duh. This past election had nothing to do with Iraq and everything to do with people not liking that the economy is in the toilet. Media is still in the tank I see.
@springerdawg The only thing you proved with that argument is two things. One, us Americans are ignorant . And two, us Americans don't get off our lazy asses to vote. When that election happened, 69% of Americans thought Saddam was responsible for 9/11. Bush won by scaring the shit out the electorate-same way he got his way on Iraq. Before the economy lost 8 million jobs, George Bush's approval started taking a dive, because the people FINALLY CAUGHT ON TO HIS BS.
@Seedofwinter Are you aware that the latest poll showed that Americans favored having Bush back as president 48% to 42%? Talk about the people finally catching on to BS. Seems like the people didn't mind a president that the economy grew for 6 out of his 8 years. And ironically do you know when the economy started to tank. It was his last two years when Nancy Pelosi took over the House. All 6 years of republicans controlling house, senate and prez the economy grew. Keep watching CBS.
LOL You try, kid. Firstly, the poll you're referencing doesn't portray the whole American Public. I GUARANTEE YOU half the population DOES NOT WANT BUSH BACK. Case closed.
Secondly, when Bush handed over the reigns of leadership to Obama, we were already-on his watch- facing a HUGE recession, and the bank bailouts were inches from passing. The unemployment that followed was severe.
9/11 happened on his watch AND the worst economic crisis since the 30's. He was an IDIOT.
@springerdawg The way you conflate Nancy Pelosi's two year stewardship of the house to our economy shows just a slowminded and ignorant in these matters you are. It also highlights the ignorance of my Country; I bet you contributed to that poll that demonstrated 70% of people believed Saddam was responsible for 9/11.
As Chris says, you are judged by what you leave behind. Bush left us a gigantic debt, the worse economic crisis in decades, and 2 inane wars. Obama has so far given us healthcare.
@Seedofwinter Bush left us a gigantic debt and 2 inane wars. Obama agrees with one of the wars (Afganistan). I'm assuming he agrees with it because more soldiers have been killed there in his two years in office than Bush's entire terms. And Obama has tripled the deficit in just two years than Bush had in eight. Boy you really care about deficits. No poll that anybody references uses the entire public, idiot. That's why its a poll. Nice argument.
@springerdawg Yeah, he pretty much made Afghanistan America's bastard war, and made a silly conclusion that Iraq was more important. This, in effect, made us divert all resources to building a Country that had shit to do with 9/11. Obama has to finish off the job that should have been done by now.
The poll you mentioned doesn't poll the hole American demographic-Democrats, independents, etc.
The spending Obama initiated was spending that HAD to be done.
@springerdawg Health insurance reform was DESPERATELY needed. Even though Obama didn't fully solve the problem, at least he TRIED to do something. YOU people are too lazy to solve ANYTHING; you're only good for whining like bitches.. The stimulus plan was a vital investment needed in AMerica. Not says me, but says economists- the people that study the exchange of goods and services. We didn't want a great depression. Bush spending was optional, Obama spending was a MUST. Comprehend this, kid.
@Seedofwinter OK boy. You said Obama gave you health care. Actually no. People like me who work for a living that Obama takes the money from 'gave' you health care. Go put your mouth back on the government tit and feed off productive people like all you liberal leeches do. The only poll I think that matters is the poll I like to call an election and you are getting ready to see what the american people think about the Obama agenda in November. Have fun election night.
You still don't prove anything with your statement. The President that wins ALWAYS loses seats in Congress the first year. Big deal.
So the poor and middle class of this Country that can't afford anything are leeches? Stupid ass logic once again. All people-no matter their job- play an important part of this economy. Without farmers, you don't eat; without cashiers.you don't ship; without pilots, you don't travel.
@springerdawgThe point is, these jobs pay very little, and almost always require the families to be on some sort of food stamps or government assistance. You could say"hey that's there fault they do that work", but that is irrelevant. Somebody has to do these jobs to make the world turn. Those that choose to do so, should not starve, or be homeless. The fact is we ALL FEED OFF EACH OTHER. You don't only pay taxes, I do as well. Taxes are paid by the collective people, not just you. Common sense
@springerdawg You are a 40 year old guy that remains lost in his greed and stuck in his ignorance. Societies of people are just that-societies of people. For anybody to thumb their noses at anybody, for not being able to afford healthcare, due to it's cost, is arrogant and shows how poor a person you are. No matter what you do, you're success and ability to make money depends on other people. It seems like greedy shits like you never seem to realize this. My taxes prevent you from being hurt.
@Seedofwinter Actually Bush gained seats his first mid term election. So I guess the president doesn't ALWAYS loose seats his first medterm election. For someone calling everyone stupid and ignorant you sure don't know much about politics. Keep drinking the kool aid, it keeps you from having to critically think. You said without farmers I don't eat. I just ate last night doves that I killed dove hunting. Stupid statement, not everyone one is a vegan you dumb treehugger.
LOL How do you link me saying "without farmers you don't eat" to being a vegan? Two, you don't hunt ALL the time. I guarantee you that you require farming for a vast majority of your food.
So I mispoke. It doesn't matter anyway. Know why? During Bush's reign you lost a giant chunk of both house of Congress. Like I said, only reason why he's gotten away with what he's gotten away with is by scaring people. The American people have shown you what they think of far right government
Think critically? You wouldn't have a clue what that is. You repeat the same your-by-yourself philosophy as your far right cadres in the media and radio. I haven't seen even one original thought from you. Your whole argument is tree hugger this, liberal that. would place a hefty wager in you not even knowing basic science and math skills. Probably think global warming is fake too. It's all the same stupidness with you ilk:
@Seedofwinter Hey, also, I just turned 40 like three days ago, man you don't have to throw that in my face. I'm having a little trouble adjusting to being old. Take it easy on the old man.
@springerdawg A big part of the reason the economy is in the tank is because of the war in Iraq, and it was a constant issue during the presidential debates. If you think the 2008 election had nothing to do with Iraq you're either ignorant or deluded.
matthews, the world changed on sep. 11th...the rest of the world realizes this allies and enemies included...only insulated idiots living in their pseudo intelectual world think different...if you do not want to remember and learn from history than you are doomed to repeat it.
Hey how the fuck do you explain Obama's deficit projected to be FOUR TIMES that of Bush's without fighting two wars and reducing the "military industrial complex" take?
It's called 'An Ounce of prevention is worth a Pound of cure'. No one has ever had to deal with a mess like this. NO ONE in history!!! What boils me is that we are forced to clean up the mess that Corporations and GreedBags made for us while they get to keep what they pillaged from U.S. We need to get the fuck out of Afghanistan. the more we press these people the worse things get. Ignore them and watch them and de-claw them from time to time. We need to stop 'MAKING' terrorist!!!
"an ounce of prevention". Prevention for what? Guarenteeing the U.S will no longer be a worldpower? Oh, I get it, Obama will just offer them healhcare and they won't attack us anymore! ROFL!
Ignore them and watch them from time to time? Wasn't that Clinton's m.o. How'd that work for you?
OMG I have always heard of his argumentative prowess but never took the time out to listen to him before...Chris Matthews is really a filthy destructive overbearing master of manipulation, change the topic before the guest can prove you wrong flamer!
What an imbecile that Matthews is!
How about shutting up a little (a lot) and listening to reason, then if you disagree say it but not with such pathetic tactics as over-talking your guest so as not to allow the listening audience to hear him. WOW!
Ari boasts that Bush kept America safe from terrorist attacks since September 11th. What he's really saying is that Bush kept America safe from terrorist attacks AFTER September 11th. If Ari is to be believed does his argument imply the "Bush 9/11 and Prior Era" was a successful failure? It's criminal that Bush and his administration have taken the worst failure of our government and redefined it as a "success." Thanks Chris Matthews for exposing their lie, be it 8 years after the fact.
I think he directly addressed the question, which was positioned from a very specific perspective - - Ari did a good job not falling into Mathews trap. And to be clear, the highlight of the Bush Administration was RESPONDING to the worst attack in US history.
The Bush Administration will be known for responding to 9/11 in the WORST possible way. By all serious accounts (not the revisionism continually spewed by propagandists like Ari) the failure of not using the opportunity to actually get bin Laden and al Qaeda while in Afghanistan and instead moving those troops into Iraq made us far less safe, destroyed our economy and has set us up for future devastating attacks on US soil. Those who put being Republican ahead of being American are traitors.
I respectfully disagree with all your 3 points:not sure how we are less safe now that Saddam is gone, Iraq is stablizing, we have not been attacked since, etc. - maybe Iraq didn't help our economic decline, but the mortgage fiacso is widely regarded as the primary issue that hurt the economy, and how exactally are we more in danger of attacks now vs. 2001?
deny, distract, distort. and deceit. in 10 minutes by the taliking skelton we have summation of the entire past 8 years of a long collective nightmare.
omg ARI let it go you homo!. you lost! you, george dubya et al will forever be remembered in the fond context of adolf, idi and yes saddam too. all the pr spin in the world by all of the talkin heads in the world will never change the that reality.
Matthews should put some ice on the lumps Ari gave him. Ari made his case in a calm, factual, reasoned way. Matthews is loud, obnoxious, terribly ill-informed, and has a crush on Barack Obama — all of which are reasons why Matthews is perfect to host a program on MSNBC. I cant help but notice, by the way, that the ratings for primetime shows on Fox News have skyrocketed during the Age of Obama.
I believe the war in Iraq was for one simple reason: To Control The Region and Exploit The Oil For Secret Interests. That's why Bush invaded Iraq; certainly not because of 9-11. I was pissed at Chris Matthews for the way he treated Ron Paul at the debates. But now I'm very impressed with him in the way he is treated this Fleischer Pig. I will start watching Chris Matthews again.
That is two not very simple reasons you named there. By using the word "and" after "To control the region" you are implying another reason. I don't think any war is based on one simple reason. That is like stating the civil war was fought "because of slavery". Both of these men are tools of their respective sides...Ari just stayed a bit more calm.
"You cannot set up a standard and not live by it." I agree. The problem is that the mainstream media wait UNTIL NOW to publicly smack these neocon cowards. Chris should've went "Well, I don't appreciate you speaking to me as if I'm a kid who still believes in Santa Claus. Everything you've said has been proven untrue. Think what you want about me but you won't disrespect me while defending Bush. The bottom line, Ari, is that the current state of American society is the legacy of George W. Bush."
Watch 0:45 to 4:07. Umm..... I believe the names are reversed in the title.
Matthews invites Fleisher on to tee him up, and is too stupid to make it work. Priceless.
Now that Obama is elected, MSNBC won't call him out on how he's not doing what he promised. Tingle boy here, and the rest of the douches built him up messiah level. Now, to not look like they were wrong, they're forced to live in the past and trash an administration that hung themselves long ago. PATHETIC!
first, its only been 2 1/2 months, and hes already doing more thant he promised then bush has done in 8 years.
look at bushes promises when running for pres in 2000.
So what hasnt he done that hes promised though.
Second, Matthews did call out Fleischer well.
He set a standard they didnt live by. Also, the Memo the pres got was definitely more detailed then a generic attack claim. One of Bushes cabnet members was talked to about the options Al Qaeda had.
Also, we may not have been attacked on american soil, but we were only attacked on american soil once under clinton also and he didnt have to send us to war to prevent attacks.
Next, we have lost more american lives to war since 9/11 (war started supposedly because of 9/11) then we lost on 9/11. We are guaranteed to keep losing more, while we had no guarantee and not even a high likelihood of being attacked again looking back at the history of Al Qaeda activity in the US.
transparency -check- go to recovery (.) org and hes signed other bills to bring transparency to gov.
What did he miss
earmark reform is tough and spoken about in a recent speech he gave in fact. Its an ongoing process and hes still talking about working on it, but give him time, dang.
Used to, they got their first 100 days to get things done, not 1 day as repubs gave him
Yes, he let one lobbyist in. Now we have to hate him for everything and never trust him. Oh have mercy on his human heart
He never said no war, he said from the beginning that he would pull us out of iraq and move us further into afghanistan.
I dont like his expanding afghan conflict either, but we are being pulled out of iraq. Plans are in place, and each year will see a guaranteed scaledown. Few people expected it to happen in less then a year, but its only expected to take til the end of 2010 to get more then half our troops out and scale down after, based on Iraq gov wants, not ours.
I guess my bottom lines are: He's not going to be the messiah like Matthews and the mainstream media claim. Yes, I know these things take time but he's already breaking promises like (as you pointed out) bush did.
Obama's administration is dragging their feet fixing the economy because it gives them a cover/distraction to slide their social agenda through, Rahm has said you can't let a good crisis go to waste. In that sense it's no different than Bush using 9/11 to advance his agenda.
dragging feet? Its the dems that wanted stimulus bill signed fast and repubs wanted to halt it for a long time or forever. Even if you disagree with the stimulus bill, its not like they have ever tried to stand still on the issue
The repubs are the only ones who think we should just do nothing til business and the banks go so dead broke and nobody has jobs anymore with all US business out of commission that they somehow rise back up within a year and money appears from nowhere to be spent again
You know as well as I do that if the Republicans had control, the Democrats would be the ones saying no. Unfortunately, that's how politics work. BOTH parties always act like children while we get screwed.
My true problem with Obama is that he's letting congress (arrogant, self-serving, screw the common people, Nancy Pelosi) have free reign. How are the Repubs supposed to act when she tells them "We won, we get to do it our way". I thought Obama had more balls (and sense) than that.
As far as the second paragraph, the way to not let a crisis go to waste is to do the opposite of dragging your feet, and thats what they are doing, moving fast to get things done to bring our economy and long term budget in order while america is awake.
---------------
To your second post. Blagojevich has never been tied to Obama. Where am I supposed to read your accusation from?
The market was worse then a decline. A recession is not something you can fix with hope alone. We all know that.
There is lots of video (played on all the networks) of Obama campaigning for Blago. Plus, my "accusation" can be researched without much difficulty.
As far as me "not helping". I was mistakenly told that this was a democracy where we have the right to vote AND freedom of speech. You can voice your opinion, and I can voice mine, and they don't have to agree. We both want a successful, healthy exsistence, but don't agree on the best approach. Healthy debate is allowed.....at least for now.
btw, If people that don't believe in the 911 conspirocy theory are mindless sheep, then what do you call people that believed Obama's campaign promises?
I find it hard to believe that Obama is the ONE honest, trustworthy person to come out of the Chicago political system.
You've all been had, now EVERYBODY is going to pay taxes up the wazoo to pay for the social reengineering while jobs and retirement funds combust before our eyes.
I am not sure what conspiracy you speak of, but (not) believing in something has no connection with anything else.
I hold no strong opinion on any conspiracy except to know based on history that a politician, even in america will kill or have killed americans to make things happen
Obama has been following through on his campaign promises with very little change as fast as he can while having been in office only 2 1/2 months
Sorry, that wasn't really directed at you. I meant a general post, not a reply to you. Soory about that.
Anyway, you're not aware of the theory that 9/11/2001 was ordered by the U.S. government and wasn't done by terrorists? I assumed everybody at least had heard of that.
As to the conspiracy, yes, I know, and I made my statement about it. I will repeat, I have no strong opinion on it one way or the other.
But anybody who believes our gov could never harm/kill citizens to meet an end goal knows nothing about the history of america or more broadly, the human race.
Therefore, its possible. And it is possible to keep a large scale plan secret. You dont really need hundreds of people involved to pull something off if the president wants it done.
chicago, Obama wasnt born there, wasnt raised there. Didnt move there til he was an adult and didnt enter politics til after years of being there, but has only a connection to resko to bring against him
Even thats been vetted and found unworthy of further debate by everybody but the few who still also think Obama isnt an american
Therefore its quite possible that hes able to get out without total corruption
Also, its too late, you missed it. Jobs and retirement combusted under bush already
Yes, I know he's from Hawaii. However, you haven't done your homework or you'd know that Obama, Emanuel, and Blagojevich were the 3 amigos. They all worked on and/or campaigned for each other.
The market was declining at the end for Bush. However, Obama is the first president since Carter for the market to not respond with a big gain. In fact, since he took office, his lack of clear plan has caused a free fall worse than during Bush's term. I hope you'll be right, but so far..........
Nobody has the sure answer, not you, not conservatives, not any economist.
He has a clear plan in the sense that its well laid out based on the information he believes will work best.
If Wall Street wants all the answers right away, wants to be lied to, go to a fortune teller. The president should be honest and hopeful, and hes trying his best to balance those.
I dont think hes a messiah, but his job isnt easy and you arent helping.
Ari Fleischer, Karl Rove, and the other Neocons are a bunch of pricks. Only a moron would believe, otherwise. I watched the interview and although he tried to "read" Chris. Chris got the last word and put Ari in his place and called him out to be the irrational, illogical thinking little twisted moron of a man he and others who think like him really are...
Ari is such a pompous arrogant circuitous little ass.
I love that the petulant little shit calls Chris "shameful," and just keeps on filibustering. And in the middle of his filibustering Ari says, "Do you ever not interrupt your guests?' What a prick.
And then he LIES and says: "After sept 11th, having been hit once... how could we take a chance that Saddam might not strike again?"
Saddam didn't "hit" us at all. Pig.
So, just how evil is it to look someone square in the eye and lie?
Yeah!! The slapdown of low IQ, unprofessional, useless commentator, dumber than rocks Liberal Chris Matthews. Admit it you rag Matthews, President George Bush was a GREAT American President. Hmmm, after 51 days of a nightmare called Obama, Obama's approval ratings are dropping like a rock, he is becoming quickly hated, and yes, even huge numbers of Democrats are longing for the days of economic growth under President Bush. Take that you flippin Liberal rag Matthews! Freak! What a disgrace!
Former Pres Bush was not only an incompetent, low IQ, unprofessional, drunken and irrational little man, you're an idiot for suggesting, otherwise! Thank God America is waking up and moving center left b/c people like you are pretty gullible & don't bother educating, themselves(ditto!). You illiterates believe Ari when he says that after 9/11 we couldn't take the chance that Sadam would attack AGAIN! He didn't attack us, the 1st time. That's a lie and still DUMMIES like you suck it up!
i agree with Fleisher, Bush grew the economy 15% over Clinton and had record growth. Too bad the Demorat F*ups in 2006 via Nancy Legosi, Barney's Frank, Chris Dodd, Chuck the F*ck Schumer and others forgot to heed the warnings about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
FYI under Bush our economy saw the slowest and lowest amount of growth and prosperity. You've got it backwards. Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac were not speculating and overvaluing stock. They weren't overleveraging themselves, unlike Wall Street. A very small % of this recession is represented by those who took loans they couldn't afford. WAKE UP! The greedy, profit-driven, anti-union, anti-American worker, no regulation believing bastards did this to America....not Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac!
Ari has a lot of anger underneath that fake, arrogant smile

Foolish!

Total left wing hack.
marinatom1 1 year ago
@marinatom1 Yep, Fleischer was unflappable, but so was Josef Goebbels in selling the homicidal policies of HIS boss Adolph Hitler. Mathews showed you what kind of lying double talker little Arie is when he asked him about the economic mess W left behind.Answer,"Bush kept us safe" In fact, when Bush left office, only 22% of America approved of his horrendus record in office.Fleischer, along with Bush,Cheney,Rummy, the neo con war mongers, Rice, Powell and more, should be on trial for war crimes.

WTF. Sadam Hussein DIDN'T ATTACK US ON 9/11. IRAQ HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11. Fleischer is completely WRONG, and he doesn't even know it. We pre-emptively attack a nation that didn't pose any threat, and inherited a Vietnam!

gunneralquist 2 years ago
Fleischer's tact of talking around questions, hurling insults, while refusing to answer and then asking counterquestions is NO PROBLEM for Matthews. Ha. What Chris knows, and Ari obviously forgot, is that this bit of tape is an indictment on Fleischer himself. Any intelligent person would wonder why Ari is so defensive, so combative to simple and direct queries? Because Aris answers would confirm the indictment on Bush, and although we already know the facts, Ari futility tries the subterfuge.

Media is still in the tank I see.
springerdawg 3 years ago 6
@springerdawg The only thing you proved with that argument is two things. One, us Americans are ignorant . And two, us Americans don't get off our lazy asses to vote. When that election happened, 69% of Americans thought Saddam was responsible for 9/11. Bush won by scaring the shit out the electorate-same way he got his way on Iraq. Before the economy lost 8 million jobs, George Bush's approval started taking a dive, because the people FINALLY CAUGHT ON TO HIS BS.
Seedofwinter 1 year ago
@Seedofwinter Are you aware that the latest poll showed that Americans favored having Bush back as president 48% to 42%? Talk about the people finally catching on to BS. Seems like the people didn't mind a president that the economy grew for 6 out of his 8 years. And ironically do you know when the economy started to tank. It was his last two years when Nancy Pelosi took over the House. All 6 years of republicans controlling house, senate and prez the economy grew. Keep watching CBS.
springerdawg 1 year ago
@springerdawg
Seedofwinter 1 year ago
@springerdawg The way you conflate Nancy Pelosi's two year stewardship of the house to our economy shows just a slowminded and ignorant in these matters you are. It also highlights the ignorance of my Country; I bet you contributed to that poll that demonstrated 70% of people believed Saddam was responsible for 9/11.
As Chris says, you are judged by what you leave behind. Bush left us a gigantic debt, the worse economic crisis in decades, and 2 inane wars. Obama has so far given us healthcare.
Seedofwinter 1 year ago
@Seedofwinter Bush left us a gigantic debt and 2 inane wars. Obama agrees with one of the wars (Afganistan). I'm assuming he agrees with it because more soldiers have been killed there in his two years in office than Bush's entire terms. And Obama has tripled the deficit in just two years than Bush had in eight. Boy you really care about deficits. No poll that anybody references uses the entire public, idiot. That's why its a poll. Nice argument.
springerdawg 1 year ago
@springerdawg Yeah, he pretty much made Afghanistan America's bastard war, and made a silly conclusion that Iraq was more important. This, in effect, made us divert all resources to building a Country that had shit to do with 9/11. Obama has to finish off the job that should have been done by now.
The poll you mentioned doesn't poll the hole American demographic-Democrats, independents, etc.
The spending Obama initiated was spending that HAD to be done.
Seedofwinter 1 year ago
@springerdawg Health insurance reform was DESPERATELY needed. Even though Obama didn't fully solve the problem, at least he TRIED to do something. YOU people are too lazy to solve ANYTHING; you're only good for whining like bitches.. The stimulus plan was a vital investment needed in AMerica. Not says me, but says economists- the people that study the exchange of goods and services. We didn't want a great depression. Bush spending was optional, Obama spending was a MUST. Comprehend this, kid.
Seedofwinter 1 year ago
@Seedofwinter OK boy. You said Obama gave you health care. Actually no. People like me who work for a living that Obama takes the money from 'gave' you health care. Go put your mouth back on the government tit and feed off productive people like all you liberal leeches do. The only poll I think that matters is the poll I like to call an election and you are getting ready to see what the american people think about the Obama agenda in November. Have fun election night.
springerdawg 1 year ago
@springerdawg
Seedofwinter 1 year ago
@springerdawgThe point is, these jobs pay very little, and almost always require the families to be on some sort of food stamps or government assistance. You could say"hey that's there fault they do that work", but that is irrelevant. Somebody has to do these jobs to make the world turn. Those that choose to do so, should not starve, or be homeless. The fact is we ALL FEED OFF EACH OTHER. You don't only pay taxes, I do as well. Taxes are paid by the collective people, not just you. Common sense
Seedofwinter 1 year ago
@springerdawg You are a 40 year old guy that remains lost in his greed and stuck in his ignorance. Societies of people are just that-societies of people. For anybody to thumb their noses at anybody, for not being able to afford healthcare, due to it's cost, is arrogant and shows how poor a person you are. No matter what you do, you're success and ability to make money depends on other people. It seems like greedy shits like you never seem to realize this. My taxes prevent you from being hurt.
Seedofwinter 1 year ago
@Seedofwinter Actually Bush gained seats his first mid term election. So I guess the president doesn't ALWAYS loose seats his first medterm election. For someone calling everyone stupid and ignorant you sure don't know much about politics. Keep drinking the kool aid, it keeps you from having to critically think. You said without farmers I don't eat. I just ate last night doves that I killed dove hunting. Stupid statement, not everyone one is a vegan you dumb treehugger.
springerdawg 1 year ago
@springerdawg
Seedofwinter 1 year ago
@springerdawg

Ari boasts that Bush kept America safe from terrorist attacks since September 11th. What he's really saying is that Bush kept America safe from terrorist attacks AFTER September 11th. If Ari is to be believed does his argument imply the "Bush 9/11 and Prior Era" was a successful failure? It's criminal that Bush and his administration have taken the worst failure of our government and redefined it as a "success." Thanks Chris Matthews for exposing their lie, be it 8 years after the fact.

Ari completely sidestepped the question. How sad is it that the highlight of the Bush regime was the worst attack in American history.
nrock74 3 years ago
I think he directly addressed the question, which was positioned from a very specific perspective - - Ari did a good job not falling into Mathews trap. And to be clear, the highlight of the Bush Administration was RESPONDING to the worst attack in US history.
JustAsk70 3 years ago
The Bush Administration will be known for responding to 9/11 in the WORST possible way. By all serious accounts (not the revisionism continually spewed by propagandists like Ari) the failure of not using the opportunity to actually get bin Laden and al Qaeda while in Afghanistan and instead moving those troops into Iraq made us far less safe, destroyed our economy and has set us up for future devastating attacks on US soil. Those who put being Republican ahead of being American are traitors.
gts1014 3 years ago 2
I respectfully disagree with all your 3 points:not sure how we are less safe now that Saddam is gone, Iraq is stablizing, we have not been attacked since, etc. - maybe Iraq didn't help our economic decline, but the mortgage fiacso is widely regarded as the primary issue that hurt the economy, and how exactally are we more in danger of attacks now vs. 2001?

I will start watching Chris Matthews again.
mrbrunelle 3 years ago

PATHETIC!
cwphunky68 3 years ago
first, its only been 2 1/2 months, and hes already doing more thant he promised then bush has done in 8 years.
look at bushes promises when running for pres in 2000.
He had 9 months to work on it.
waltermh111 3 years ago
Also, we may not have been attacked on american soil, but we were only attacked on american soil once under clinton also and he didnt have to send us to war to prevent attacks.
Next, we have lost more american lives to war since 9/11 (war started supposedly because of 9/11) then we lost on 9/11. We are guaranteed to keep losing more, while we had no guarantee and not even a high likelihood of being attacked again looking back at the history of Al Qaeda activity in the US.
waltermh111 3 years ago
Your first statement is simply untrue (if I can even decifer what you mean).
Promised by Obama:
transperancy, earmark reform, No lobbyists in my administration, no more war, concrete economic fix plans.
ALL FALSE PROMISES. In response to your time frame, I don't remember him saying "after X number of days, then I'll start doing these things".
You're correct, Bush did not fufill his 2000 campaign promises. So, I guess to this point that makes Obama NO better/different that Bush.
cwphunky68 3 years ago
transparency -check- go to recovery (.) org and hes signed other bills to bring transparency to gov.
Oh have mercy on his human heart
waltermh111 3 years ago
He never said no war, he said from the beginning that he would pull us out of iraq and move us further into afghanistan.
I dont like his expanding afghan conflict either, but we are being pulled out of iraq. Plans are in place, and each year will see a guaranteed scaledown. Few people expected it to happen in less then a year, but its only expected to take til the end of 2010 to get more then half our troops out and scale down after, based on Iraq gov wants, not ours.
waltermh111 3 years ago
I guess my bottom lines are: He's not going to be the messiah like Matthews and the mainstream media claim. Yes, I know these things take time but he's already breaking promises like (as you pointed out) bush did.
Obama's administration is dragging their feet fixing the economy because it gives them a cover/distraction to slide their social agenda through, Rahm has said you can't let a good crisis go to waste. In that sense it's no different than Bush using 9/11 to advance his agenda.
cwphunky68 3 years ago
dragging feet? Its the dems that wanted stimulus bill signed fast and repubs wanted to halt it for a long time or forever. Even if you disagree with the stimulus bill, its not like they have ever tried to stand still on the issue
The repubs are the only ones who think we should just do nothing til business and the banks go so dead broke and nobody has jobs anymore with all US business out of commission that they somehow rise back up within a year and money appears from nowhere to be spent again
waltermh111 3 years ago
You know as well as I do that if the Republicans had control, the Democrats would be the ones saying no. Unfortunately, that's how politics work. BOTH parties always act like children while we get screwed.
My true problem with Obama is that he's letting congress (arrogant, self-serving, screw the common people, Nancy Pelosi) have free reign. How are the Repubs supposed to act when she tells them "We won, we get to do it our way". I thought Obama had more balls (and sense) than that.
cwphunky68 3 years ago
As far as the second paragraph, the way to not let a crisis go to waste is to do the opposite of dragging your feet, and thats what they are doing, moving fast to get things done to bring our economy and long term budget in order while america is awake.
---------------
To your second post. Blagojevich has never been tied to Obama. Where am I supposed to read your accusation from?
The market was worse then a decline. A recession is not something you can fix with hope alone. We all know that.
waltermh111 3 years ago
There is lots of video (played on all the networks) of Obama campaigning for Blago. Plus, my "accusation" can be researched without much difficulty.
As far as me "not helping". I was mistakenly told that this was a democracy where we have the right to vote AND freedom of speech. You can voice your opinion, and I can voice mine, and they don't have to agree. We both want a successful, healthy exsistence, but don't agree on the best approach. Healthy debate is allowed.....at least for now.
cwphunky68 3 years ago
Things take time, he cant realistically promise to have it all done in the first day. He in fact admits that some things will take over a year.
waltermh111 3 years ago
btw, If people that don't believe in the 911 conspirocy theory are mindless sheep, then what do you call people that believed Obama's campaign promises?
I find it hard to believe that Obama is the ONE honest, trustworthy person to come out of the Chicago political system.
You've all been had, now EVERYBODY is going to pay taxes up the wazoo to pay for the social reengineering while jobs and retirement funds combust before our eyes.
"More of the same you can believe in"
Agenda > job
cwphunky68 3 years ago
I am not sure what conspiracy you speak of, but (not) believing in something has no connection with anything else.
I hold no strong opinion on any conspiracy except to know based on history that a politician, even in america will kill or have killed americans to make things happen
Obama has been following through on his campaign promises with very little change as fast as he can while having been in office only 2 1/2 months
waltermh111 3 years ago
Sorry, that wasn't really directed at you. I meant a general post, not a reply to you. Soory about that.
Anyway, you're not aware of the theory that 9/11/2001 was ordered by the U.S. government and wasn't done by terrorists? I assumed everybody at least had heard of that.
cwphunky68 3 years ago
As to the conspiracy, yes, I know, and I made my statement about it. I will repeat, I have no strong opinion on it one way or the other.
But anybody who believes our gov could never harm/kill citizens to meet an end goal knows nothing about the history of america or more broadly, the human race.
Therefore, its possible. And it is possible to keep a large scale plan secret. You dont really need hundreds of people involved to pull something off if the president wants it done.
waltermh111 3 years ago
chicago, Obama wasnt born there, wasnt raised there.
Jobs and retirement combusted under bush already
waltermh111 3 years ago
Yes, I know he's from Hawaii. However, you haven't done your homework or you'd know that Obama, Emanuel, and Blagojevich were the 3 amigos. They all worked on and/or campaigned for each other.
The market was declining at the end for Bush. However, Obama is the first president since Carter for the market to not respond with a big gain. In fact, since he took office, his lack of clear plan has caused a free fall worse than during Bush's term. I hope you'll be right, but so far..........
cwphunky68 3 years ago
His plan is as clear as anybody can make it.

FYI under Bush our economy saw the slowest and lowest amount of growth and prosperity. You've got it backwards. Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac were not speculating and overvaluing stock.
