  • Not 1980. Closer to 85/85

  • Triple M was on top when it played rock songs. It had Club Veg, with their Surburban Songs & the Sucked In segments.

Then there must have been a program director change that repeatedly played crappy Sting songs and not enough AC/DC and Aussie songs.

  • @Jaguar67EtypeXKE .... met doug ..and rod ...... ( like doug better)

  • How sad to see what Triple M (Sydney and Melbourne) has become now! I doubt the CEO of Austereo would ever go out to gigs and support the local music scene or have the passion for radio like what Rod Muir did.

  • Yep for sure. Ain't what it was. Its just faceless corporate greed that pumps out crap and expects everyone to enjoy it.

  • Is this the guy that cut the boardroom table in half with a chainsaw when he left the network?

  • I think this is actually from 1986. They talk about Triple M already going for 6 years. Great video!

  • I think you are right. There wouldn't have been much to reflect on if this had been filmed in the same year that Triple M was formed. The song "Rock the Casbah" is heard being covered by Richard Clapton, and the song was originally released by The Clash in 1982. George Negus worked on 60 Minutes 1979-1986, plus the Triple M commercial shown was very much a mid-80's production. Mulray looks like he did in the mid-80's too. So I'm with you, this was about 1985-86.

  • thanks xtremelaser, this is great :D
