I think this is kind of a sarcastic song, like most of Billy's songs that are misleadingly happy. If you're just trying to hold on, and not trying to get anywhere, you're just going to stay where you are. It's the theme of the song and the video. I think the end of the movie is much more shocking, but the end of the music video leaves a theme of redemption.

This was all Billy's idea he said he wanted to make a music video about a bunch homeless people and he wanted them both be screwed up drugs and everything else and he wanted to show that sometimes people dont know what they doing wrong to themselfs the real thing that inspired Billy was Jimmy he wanted to show the dark side of drugs to people after what happened to Jimmy luckly at that time he was clean and hes still clean today rocking it out

This music video was actually made as a short film first the film is actually a 15 min movie you can actually watch it on smashing pumpkins greatist hits dvd you all should buy it. Oh yeah and there were no extras hired for this film the sluts you see on road are real other then actors in the film its true but sad. Also this is real place where people go get high they saw a 11 year old boy shooting up in the alley.
