I would assume the following: all the melodies (and improvisations about them) were deducted from the monkey-island theme. As musician myself I learned this banjo-rolls and combined them in different matters. The main point is: melodies do not need any songs. A song is mostly an elaboration of music-ideas (themes, melodies a.s.o.), its harmonies and form could be also deducted from those smallest parts of inspiration.
