  • Splendid! Touching!!

  • this isnt from henry purcell is from william croft

  • @juanyuhuyu Please note that William Croft was only 17 yrs old when Purcell died in 1695. William Croft knew Purcell (they both had the same music teacher) and most likely used Purcell's piece as the first movement in his 3rd harpsichord suite as a tribute to the dead Purcell who had written Ground before he died (ZD 221, Ground for harpsichord in C minor, as well as ZD 222, Ground for harpsichord in D minor and ZT 682, A New Ground in E minor 1687).

  • @Supervideodrome thank you :) and sorry for my ignorance, we learn somethign everyday :D.

  • @juanyuhuyu No apologies needed. And you are not alone - there are many websites attributing this piece to William Croft. Fact is composers have always - and still do - use material of other composers, perhaps as a tribute or because they love it. There is nothing wrong with this (unless it is plagiarism) and often results in wonderful new music e.g. Vaughan Williams Tallis Fantasia. Best wishes to you.

  • I find Purcell's music to be very lyrical. This is a nice interpretation.

  • Hermosa obra y perfectamente interpretada
