This arrangement really lends to how terribly sad this song is. Maybe it's just from where they started recording but I hate the jingle bells reference, I love where they cut in on this video. And of course Michael's haunting voice makes it even more devastating.

Yuss, he was pretty much one of the best things about Bare :) And there were a freaking LOT of really great things about Bare, so that speaks a ton to how good he really is!! He just has this incredible ability to pour huuuuge amounts of emotion into his voice (both speaking and singing) while still managing to make it come off subtley and with nuanced. I think he will be the next Raul Esparza, for sure :) (for people who don't know who Raul is, youtube him and discover the amazingess! hehe)
