I've lived on Lake Michigan (Waukegan, IL and Northport, MI), Lake Huron (Cheboygen), the St, Clair River (in St. Clair) and now live near the southern mouth of the Detroit River. I fish it and nearby Lake Erie. I have traveled the world and have found no place that I would rather call home than my sweet Michigan. Thank you for being MY mitten... MY home.
this is bar far one of the best places from the us coast guard. you see it all in the summer. with coast guard bases 50 to 70 miles aparts in areas this is a great place to serve. You see some interesting things and you must know how to opeator your vessel when the water truns. the fitz didnt go down in 15 foot waves.
I just love this song. Michigan is great that is for sure. I am swimming across the Straits this August for charity! Us Michiganders sometimes take for granted the beauty we have right here.
In spite of all the recent economic trouble that we've had in Michigan, scenes like this remind us that we live in a beautiful and resilient state. Better times are ahead!
i remember in 6th grade i walked about 300 ft out in the straits and it was still 2 ft deep and i slept on a raft with my friend almost right under the bridge
anyone who hasnt should go to the sault or the balsms in the up its absolutely beautiful
Beautiful song, beautiful photos. I'm from Ohio, and I first learned this song at school in the sixth grade. I hadn't heard the song since, but it is so moving that it never went out of my mind. This is the first time I've heard the song in over ten years. Someday, I'd like to take a roadtrip and visit the Great Lakes.
I work on the Ore boats that Sail the Lakes and I Love this song during the winter lay up i listen to this song i love working on the boats I love the Sunrises on the Calm Morning espcialy on lakes huron superior and Mighigan erie looks like crap in the morning same with ontario i am in my cabin on the boat as i am typing this good song pat reminds me of home on the boat
I am a lifelong resident, i have run across the Mackinac Bridge, climbed the dunes and hunted its beautiful forests, it is all that it said to be and more, I would never move.
