On one of his Best known CD's on Rounder I WROTE almost every song on it (ALL IN TIME) and did not get as much Royalties as ONE song I wrote for a WELL KNOWN ARTIST! To put your music on YOU TUBE Dam Sure Cant Hurt, if You ae not selling records anyway! But might get you some MUCH NEEDED EXPOSURE.

Just because you haven't heard of him or me doesn't mean no one else has or that we don't have content on the internets.
The problem is people burning copies of our music selling it themselves off of our work that we created and financed with our own money from the sells of our albums. Most of our money come from sells and royalties, not concerts.
lovie: If no one has heard of you, they won't be downloading your music. Because...they've they've never heard of you. If they don't know who you are, how would they have the impetus to download your content? This is logic.
I looked you and Shannon up, to download for free. Your names don't come up on a search. The only way to get your music online, is to pay for it. Of course, I could buy your cd and allow others to copy. But, your music is not available for free dl.
This a very big problem and it hurts our genre of music more than any other. As Independent labels and Artists our Albums, promotion, marketing, production, travel, etc.....are not financed by major corporations with major money. This comes our of our pockets. And there is no such thing as "If no one has heard of you" some know Artists and some don't, but the ones that do, if they are bootlegging our music, where does the money come from to continue producing our music?
This 500 character thing is sort of rediculous. But people don't understand or just don't get it.......we don't make our money from concerts.......we are dependent on the sales of our music and airplay....and if that is being taken from us, how long do you think we will last. (Not very long)

If someone can get something for free, they will. It's too easy to do. People don't buy much music anymore. Why should they spend $15 on a CD that they can get for free? You will never know how many people have burned a copy of your music. Nothing you can do.
This is why a lot of good Blues Artists, never make it or struggle to make it, that is why record stores don't make it and end up closing down, because of bootleggers cutting in like a middle man....when they were never invited to be one. so now u don't make a sale and you don't collect ur royalties.....

It is not just about downloading music, it is about making copies of the music for your friends or to bootleg on the corner.
