Edenia(outworld) rightfully belongs to Kitana. Khan took it by killing her father and adopting her. Therefore, Kitana could not be a traitor if it belongs to her in the first place. Kitana and Jade both learned this but Jade helped Khan not Kitana, thats the betrayal! Ruby's skin color, cunningness, being Kitana's Close friend, helping Khan defeat the earth warriors, and deciding to help Kitana in her time of need is why I say she is a clone of Jade. John Vogel, the Lead Artist (If I'm not mistaken) since Tobias' departure even said that Jade was a Spy/'James Bond-like character' on the MK Deception Bonus Disc. Therefore, Jade's 'Cunningness' isn't based on sex appeal. And since you brought it up trying to make a point, both character's exude sex appeal; Tanya's MK4 Ending is a clear example of this.

Jade didn't betray Kitana in any 'version' of the series--The closest possibility is Jade's appearance in MK Annihilation, and even then, no relationship between her and Kitana is ever stated.

...And this Ruby chick is reminding me even more of Tanya, especially during her fight with Kitana and what she tells her. The only difference is that Ruby actally had a change of heart.  This episode definitely could've inspired Midway to create Tanya, though...

Well, you are right. Jade betrayed Shao Kahn by siding with Kitana. She defeated Reptile and with Kitana they defeated Sheeva to reach Sindel which led to her return to Outworld and discovery of Shokan's punishment at the hands of Shao Kahn.
