@KimOnCrack frost for ice barrier but since the patch all specs are just as good as each other, if you can avoid damage well and not make it too stressful to level fire and arcane are just as good as frost, if you want an easy time leveling but not that fast frost is probably your best option but fire and arcane can be a lot faster and funner if you play them right. Your best bet is to read through the talent tree's and see which ones you like the sound of.

@Izzybizzi fire is best pve spec with endgame gear and crit gems, frost is aimed mainly at pvp + leveling, arcane is viable in arena if you have a healer.

Open cath doors... pull lower courtyards... pull cath... then iceblock... frost nova... arcane torrent... dragon's breath... instant flamestrike... blast wave... instant flamestrike... arcane blast mebe twice and your done... usually there's so much loot that it dissapears before you can even pick it up...

fuck a fire mage only dmg half hp on a lvl 40....hahaha pew pew pew......a well equipped arcane mage would have killed the lvl 40 instantly with arcane blast with presense of mind activated and then you could have activated your mana shield and then used blizzard to kill all of the other guys without being interuppted

i got great xp when i was getting ran thru sm cath on my mage, at 39 i was doing several thousand dps from having the whole instance up to the doors on the guy running me, then just using the haste buff and blizzard. my mage is 48 atm, any1 know a good place to quest/aoe farm? the place im using (pirate bay in tanaris) only has green level mobs for me.

I'm not one of those people to say fire is better than ice or arcane . but I have had my Mage for 4 years and I gotta tell u, fire is so amazing fun. with firestarter, ur rotation is almost obvious whether ur doing a grp pull or dueling. dragons breath, flamestrike, blastwave, flamestrike. plus all those dots just from ur crits. makes ur mind expload. and I can't even begin to count the number of times blazing speed saved my ass.
