Shutting down was rather easy, just remove the cartridge and reset the system! Now I'd like to see Windows XP shut down that fast...

shuts down pretty quickly if you unplug the power supply, BUT you risk epic HDD failure.

Great thing about ATARI OS: no moving parts on the target hardware!
