i always play on the ultra channel ( ultra sub-channel ) : gain = noon, bottom = noon, body = 8 oclock, edge = noon .... with a boss noise gate and a maxon od808 ( overdrive = almost minimum , volume = almost maximum and tone = noon )
the ultra sub channel is way more middy than the modern one so thats why i almost cuts all the mids !
@r74nogr4d7 do you have some volume issu with your head? Mine act like he's lowering the volume by himself on some channels..... acting weird, also, when I press my Loop button.. I notice that he don't work correctly, half pressed he let the power goes freely, but not in both normal position... I guess I'll have to make some short circuit with it
Yeah i was having problems before, i got it repaired though. It turned out to be some broken solder joints. As for the effects loop button mine does that too on both of my peavey amps. If they are pressed in halfway the volume like doubles. I just put hot glue to hold the button halfway in.
Do you know if one's better than the other regarding the Peavey XXL? The head or the combo?

Just out of curiosity what are your settings? I have the same amp (head version) and i like to see what other people use.
