~And if you think that continue relying on government to take care of you..like the points I mentioned it can do only so much before it becomes part of the problem.Entitlements are impossible to sustain unless you have a massive private sector generating the wealth to sustain it. We Yanks are freakishly in debt, against most American's will, bc socialists democrats think entitlements are sustainable even tho we are trillions of dollars in debt. They know they wont be around when it hits the fan
Reading all the comments about race (YT really seems to bring out the worst in peoplel...) it's pretty clear how economic warfare rapidly turns into military warfare.

@rw5791 I am Danish and what you say is quite ignorant, biased and even dumb. Northern Europe is way more lazy than the mediterenean countries, where it's normal for people to work 12hour daily shifts and still not make enough money to survive.I would love to see the typical weak German survive under these conditions..
@rw5791 HAHA typical ignorant racist, maybe it's the corrupt Greek goverment and the E.U. that has been leeching the Greek tourism goldmine for years and years? Ever thought of that? Also white people? AHHAHA You are trying to put your self above the Greeks racially? How? Are you retarded? Even Hitler worshiped the ancient Greeks.. Greece is who invented the entire western civilizations coulture, art, medicine, science.. Name it.BTW "Arean Race" you know where that is from..not germans.lookitup
@rw5791 Germans are just wannabe Viking.. Fucking bitches.. Italians, Greeks and Scandinavians, these are the great races of Europe. Not fucking germans. Idiot
@jsn82 ,that's ancient history.Plato and ceasar are dead 2000 years. Germany's economy today dwarfs the other EU members so the 145 billion euro's to save greece is coming from each and every german citizen in the way of higher taxes.
The liberal big spending socialist govt BORROWED the money. They borrowed it because of the greedy low skill over paidunion members who wouldn't take pay cuts while the gov't was spending on feel good liberal appeasement programs. Now your bankrupt......big surprise! How is your utopia socialist govt now?
The liberal big spending socialist govt BORROWED the money. Now your bankrupt......big surprise! How is your utopia socialist govt now?
Greece, keep sucking the balls of the union leaders and their demands. No seriously, Europe thinks socialism is cool, and when you make hard working producers pay for the astronomically high wages within the contracts of the "workers party" or some lame communist name they make up to fool the brainless, it always ends up swell. Unions hold the power to damage an economy by striking at their will, why deal with them in the first place? U become a hostage to their demands.
@Rammagith the unions are not responsible for this crisis., the bankers and politicians are. Unions exist because of the abuse, even deaths of workers that historically occur without them. Stop sling'in the disinformation and propaganda. This is about oligarchy and fascism, not sociaism. The New World Order is creating the crisis.
@panathabro ...K, you think that capitalism did this, when Greece has a retirement age of approx. 51 yrs old, has ridiculous pension benefits, huge government overspending, and psychotic union groups going on strike bc the gov says their nation is going under, but thinks throwing fireballs at cops and buildings is the fucking answer? Don't lecture me on reality or sanity. AND dont worry, we USA citizens are headed to a FAR WORSE fate than you when China calls in our debt. So relax in that.
did retirement at 51 do this??? They wasted tge money elsewhere now they can't pay the retiree At 51 as agreed. Cuz ur countries retirement is 60+ doesn't make it logical. Goldman Sachs an Aig and the European banks did this Mimd you all the 50+ I know are still working
MrLessi18 we want our ancient marbles that the uk stole from greece and there making BILLIONS of pounds! they have no right to keep them there they have no history of brit in there london museum.everything there is from greece italy egypt.
How about the people blame the government for causing the problem in Greece instead of banks? Oh! I forgot that we're dealing with communists and socialists here.
@rtgoodson Maybe because the government failed to protect the people from the banks. Or to make it simpler for you, because the government worked closely with the Greek and US banks to take the money from the Greek people and make them bonuses. Maybe because the government bailed out with 28 billion euros the banks and now they don't have money to pay the pensions. If you still can't get it's maybe because you're ignorant.
@rtgoodson wow you need to pickup a book and research as your absolutely out of the loop, once you do so you'll notice how idiotic you sound right now. The banks disturb me but beyond that the people disturb me atm, this could easily be fixed if people would stop gorging on mass propaganda and think for themselves.
Seems the Greeks have the knowledge but violence will only hinder them rather than help them in the big picture. Hopefully their courage will wake some people up though.
@zulauk I really don't need to pick up anything considering I'm well educated. Moving on. These protests are nothing more than a revolt against a bloated government that has failed to balance its national interests and financial capabilities. Fact remains that the government is to blame in this. Not the banks. Not the people.
@rtgoodson Once one personally digs deeper there is always more than what meets the eye, especially in these circumstances. Education and intellect doesn't equate to wisdom or discernment of the minor truths in worldly matters. Blame really needs no home within any of us as its counterproductive.
My statement is the fact that it all comes down to each of us as the individuals whom create the society to take actions to preserve ourselves... I have no reason to debate on blame as its irrelevant.
@rtgoodson true true but financial instititutions, specifically american ones had a huge role to play...goldman sold derivatives to greek politicians, making a killing while sending greece into the abyss
@zulauk However, you can make the argument that the blame goes to all. The government is going to have to cut its entitlement system and people don't like that and certain groups are using this for their own goals. This is the future of the USA in case you're wondering.
@rtgoodson y should they cut entightlement programs? isnt that y we pay taxes? did the farmer or the fisherman or the plumber cause this..they work and pay taxes thats all....the bankers and politicans and goldman sachs did this...they should pay not the fisherman and please dont say entitlement like its a freebie....people work decades on the cheap to get there "entitlements"
give to Greece 5 cent for every greek word you use in your own language to clear up the problem !!!! Ahhh and give them back all the statues from England ,France,&..
Kick Greece out of the eurozone! That's the only solution for a country in which so many people are convinced that they are victims of some capitalist/U.S./EU/whatever else conspiracy. And take them back only when they admit that some of their actual problems might result from their own mistakes.
@blazektom u better do some real research into the problem.. u will be interested in the role Goldman Sachs played in this..as in the US it wasn't the US public it was the corporate bankers and their corrupt practices...the problems are due to the greedy elite using the destruction of government regulations to rape the banking system worldwide
Good luck to all the strikers in Greece ! Don't be bullied by corrupt politicians and an unelected EU commission of rich people whose fat pensions you also pay !
FireFox, you can say all you want but the EU brought all the crisis upon us AND our AND foreing uselless gonverments so far because all want a piece of us.
you don't surprise me with your iggnorrance, I can't teach you how to become brighter, but since you started to call us names, maybe you should open a douzen of serious books in order to realise why there are people who want us to become weak!
this is all due to certain propaganda against my Country HELLAS
Firefox9032 even that crap food souvlaki is something that worths more than your hole civilization,it saws that even in food culture you are nothing and we have the "tasty" and real flavour there too,now eat your steamed potatos together with your no flavour life
You motherless fuckn retard, u are able to think and speak today because of Greece. And since when calling a country "of the third world" somehow makes it any less significant? Citizens of third world countries are suffering and dieing by the minute and you are using this suffering and tragedy as a standard to claim as if they're worthy of some sort?
@aargirhsmil & FireFox9032. I assume that firefox is Turkish and aargirhsmil is either greek or living in Greece. To the both of you I say you are both mindnumbingly stupid and immature and one of the reasons the world today goes to hell. How can anyone try to save the world when people like you live in it. I will not even bother talking to you two. I hope you two meet because I can sense that you will fall madly in love considering you are the same type of shit.Have a nice demo version ofa life
BassAoi,i was talking to a turk, were did you see the racism, saying to a turk that he is a garbage is racism for you?turks have no right to call them selfs humans my friend and of course they can not express opinions for nothing, and this is the same like they do with their wifes,do you know that they dont let their women express their opinion and women have to eat alone in the kitchen after they serv the food to men?
So? There are people everywhere who act uncivilised. Not just Turkey. Besides it's the Turkish goverment to blame for continuing the culture of oppression instead of progress. Much like the Greek goverment is at fault by trying to make us pay for their mistakes. Also WE as well are at fault since we allow them to act like this and not protest. That's why everyone should strike and not just a few thousand here and there.
And you come from where my friend? I imagine some paradise that people work hard. So hard in fact that it becomes clear that you have not realised the dick in you asses to point that it bothers you when "3rd world countries" like Greece (meaning the Greek people) don't simply bend over. And YES throw ous out of the EU! At least then we will actually have a chance of surviving.
stupid turkish shit you can'nt give an advise to nobady special the greeks because you are subhuman or better a human hybrid, take a look to your mirror and after to your stolen country, the country that you count days to go away, garbage
It's not the time for strike. It's time to stop having siesta and work harder. Your government needs you to work harder to overcome this financial crisis.. Also you're pulling all euro zone into a crisis which is much more dangerous for all Europe.
Greek people ARE working hard. TOO hard for that matter and what do they get in reutrn? Pay cuts no health care. Are you serious? What would be the point of working hard to pay for problems you have not created? Please think before saying that people are having siestas and not working. Produce logical arguements. Don't make this a Greece-Turkey war. There is no point.
I don't understand the meaning of the phrase "...what the greek people are willing to accept". The greeks have overspent, and the bond market is simply unwilling to lend their money to allow that policy to continue. If the greeks refuse to change, then the cheques will start bouncing...full stop. They've lost the freedom to choose.
@cannuckistan Which Greeks overspent? I don't remember receiving any money and overspending it. So the real issue here is WHO abused any funds received and WHY should we the Greek people have to pay for the mess. I am most certainly not willing nor going to pay for any problems OTHERS have created. And instead of blaming people (Greeks, French no matter) maybe we should blame and go after the ones responsible. Who you might ask? I don't know....Capitalists, golden boys etc etc. how about it?
@BassAoi I'm not really seeking to attach blame to anyone, I'm just pointing out that if the greek gov. wants to continue its policies with the bond market's money, then that's not going to work anymore. Greece has had longstanding and persistant current account deficits for years; the 'chickens have come home to roost'. Btw, I loved my vacations there..so I hope you resolve the situation soon.
imagine the U.S bought Mexico government bonds .Mexico has a new government caused by an economic crisis, the new government reveals that a Chinese bank with the Chinese stock market had colluded with the Mexican government to defraud the U.S ? what would happen ? Goldman Sachs and Wall street with the greek government has done something similar ?? guess who bailed out Greece just a short time ago against the will of there own people ?yes China ,how long before China starts demanding answers ??
how long before German neo nazis start pointing out that this crisis if not ended will bring Germany down had been fueled by Goldman Sachs a Jewish named bank ?? This crisis is set to get much much worse ?
of course this country is corrupt from the top down ? the new government is in power because of corruption ? the greek orthodox church swapped a piece of worthless land for prime real estate in Athens befor the olympics ,clear so far ,the money trail led to private politicians bank accounts ? when revealed it caused the biggest political crisis since ww2 ? then a young man was shot in athens, and athens rioted ,and burned down banks across greece ?Since then the corruption issue has disapeared ?
I wouldn't say risky. And taxing the rich won't happen. They've been around for too long so they own the system. Because they are in fact the system. What to do? Change the system. At some point something will work. But you have to try otherwise you are not doing anything and you remain passive waiting for a miracle that will never happen.
Considering that you have never seen long term applications of communism or socialsim for that matter and the fact that we experience capitalism since god knows when then you should at least give these ideologies a chance. At least a chance. Even though you can claim that they might fail long term, the things the USSR for example accomplished in 50 years the rest of the world has yet to even imagine. I only suggest trying something before condemning or rejectin it. Within reason of course.
And people aren't greedy and selfish. At least to the extend you say they are. If we were that messed up we would have destroyed ourselves looooong ago. That we are these things is a stupid notion perpetuated by people in control so that we turn on each other rather than going after the ones responsible for the mess the world is in.
Were they bombard you with bullshit and "facts" then cut to commercials, throw a busty blonde for good measure and you have just been mindfucked!!! Also one good example is This Divided State. A very good film that I just saw an hour ago. Goes to show how far people are willing to go to "protect their ideals". I recommend it.
It's just insane for us the average Joe to accept this madness as normal. I mean they lay off people to keep a profit while at the same time renderring people unable to afford the products they themselves try to sell. But they still make a profit! So somehow people get poorer and they get richer. It's not complicated to understand but one has to think. And when you have a morgage hanging over your head or health insurance bills the last thing you do is think. Especially in the US.
First, thank you my friends for being civilised something rare on Youtube. As for Greece, Greece still waits for money owed to her from as back as WWII. In any case EU won't suffer from strikes either from Greece or anywhere else. Capitalists use the "crisis" we are in to further dig their hands in our pockets. I wrote "crisis" because although we are supposed to be in deep shit close to collapse, somehow most if not all major corps are making one hell of a profit!! Anyone care to explain how?
No. The thing is that Greece, Portugal, Ireland had received a LOT more money from the EU than what they paid in. That money paid for the good life for the last 10 years. Plus, for example Greece took on huge loans from Goldman Sachs and others. It was the typical domino effect of "credit based on credit based on credit .... based on money already spent".
Greece has 600.000 government employees that lived like kings on borrowed money.
Yes, but the problem for the Greeks here is that they feel the bankers should pay for this problem. Since they are the ones who caused it. The bankers are trying to get out of paying anything.
The part about EU regards the economical problem prolonged strikes will cause.
Maybe the EU won't be able to assist Greece that well which could lead to a break away from the EU.
@benolly22 If only Greece hadn't taken the Euro. Apart from the historic value of the drachma everything's price skyrocketed. The Euro is one of the best scams ever. Best example is bottled water of 500ml. Old price 50 drachma. New price 50 cents. Get it? People still pay 50 in numbers but actually it's the triple value since 1euro=340.7 drachmes. That's the Euro for you.
@BassAoi I agree with you that the euro was a bad move for Greece, You can`t even print more money to get yourselves out of trouble,But there has been some serious mismanagement of funds and `cooking of the books` which the rest of Europe will have to pay for.
Unlike the US we can't just print money out of nowhere. There are different rules regarding currency here. Mismanagement is a given otherwise noone would profit. As for Europe paying for this I assume you mean the people including Greeks and not Europe as a Union. EU money comes from EU citizens. Which basically means the money EU lends to Greece, for example, gets it FROM Greece in the first place. They are not giving the money out of their own pockets. It's a very clever scheme..
George Papandreou is a minion of the NEW World Order..he is trying to rape the people for their last penny to pay for a debt created by the private bankers who robbed the country..the people are not responsible to pay this debt..he i just another puppet just like Karamalis was..stand up Greece and take your country back!!! kick these criminal bastards out of office and vote in someone who will who represent the people and not the banks..Wake up!!!
You have to work for less otherwise you don't work at all. And that's everywhere not just Greece. Capitalists will keep exploiting people. Period. It is the very nature of capitalism as a socio-economical ideology. Exploitation of a human being by another. I.e. there is no ''good'' capitalism. So what do we do? Aaaah, there is the important question. I have a few ideas from my point of view and ideology. But US youtubers will explode if I ellaborate.
I say, go for it. The US citizens need a slap to the face to wake up. The longer everyone keeps the problem to themselves, the more drastic measures we have to take to wake 'em up.
@immigranter How do you accomplish a stable economy? Removing private profit and and placing public profit a top priority. Meaning the people work and all the surplus value goes to: Health care, education, housing, technology and industry etc. It is that simple. Instead of a few greedy bastards accumulating wealth you invest the sweat of the people/workers (cause let's face it, we all are workers) back and onto our needs.
@immigranter 99.9999999% of the wealthy are capable of anything. They haven't earned their money through hard work. If that were the case how filthy rich should a person working 3 jobs to support his family become? So it becomes obvious that it's not hard work that makes you rich. It's greed and ruthlessness. So would'nt you think it would be prudent to not allow this kind of people to dictate our lives? I think so.
again @BassAoi: I agree with you. The hardest working people are rarely the wealthiest in any group or organization. Very few f the hard working attorneys end up rich. I've noticed it's the 1. Lucky, 2. Family Connectioned, 3. Schemers, 4. Money Addicted & "Driven", 5. The Greedy, 6. and White Collar crooks who know the ins and outs of the laws. People who work hard, use their God given talents, or have a desire to really help society are the most ripped off.
@immigranter They are after the money because without them they will loose the power. And through power they obtain more money. It's a two way equation. Hence why they do not give even a little of their wealth to the poor. In MM's Sicko Tony Benn phrased it in the best way: "Keep the people poor, uneducated and demoralised and they will do as you wish. A healthy and educated populace is harder to control." Now you know why there is no UniHealthcare in the US.
And that's exactly why they say mercury is good for you and sunlight is bad (Yes UV can be bad if you receive too much of it, but sunlight provides your body with vitamins). I also heard that they are planning to reduce the planet's population to a "more manageable" 500 000 000, by 2020. Scary. It's written in the Georgia Lime Stones I believe. My question is to them WHY? WHAT IS THE POINT? and TO WHOM ARE YOU TRYING TO PROVE THAT POINT?
@immigranter Although I heard the rumors myself about population size control I think of it as a bit too much BUT that said, I wouldn't be surprised if it was actually true. As to why? That's a bit rhetorical. I mean why wage wars when you can have peace? Why hate when you can love etc etc. We the people have simply been strategically deprived of common sense and the ability to think and criticise so that we can be used as slaves. Not even needing chains to hold us. Typical old story occuring
@immigranter again and again throughout history. Once more things will towards the worst possible outcome if people don't stand up and fight. Plain and simple. Not fight in a poetic or romantic kind of way. Actually fight. For their right to live. We have reached a point where survival is considered living! Imagine that. If you're alive than you're obviously doing fine otherwise you'd be dead. And some people use this as an actual arguement! Seriously WTF!!! If that doesn't tick you nothing will
Don't know your source, and I may be thumbed down but according to what has been published, the strikes were mainly civil servants or public officers, in fear of losing benefits when the Greek state finally starts cutting their huge governmental spending, one of their main needs now.
Strikes were composed of workers in the private sector, farmers as well as others. But it is expected to be presented differently by the media . I am from Greece and was on the streets yesterday. Why strike? Because I have a Uni degree and I am looking at a future of minimum wage, if that! And why? Well why woud a capitalist pay anyone a proper wage? They're in there for the profit right? And since there are other more desperate people that are willing to work for less, there you go.
You're exactly right. America used to balance the rampant self-interest of capitalists with idealism and democratic government, but the capitalists spent many years slandering government and perverting our idealism. The neocons are pure capitalists and the Democrats can't figure out what's worse - angry people or angry corporations. And with the media in the hands of people like Rupert Murdoch, you gotta wonder where it's all heading :/
@DojoNDude Unfortunately my friend you cannot balance capitalism with anything. No matter how good your intentions may be. Because the nature of the system is such that people, all people regardless of class will suffer sooner or later. Except of course the rich & powerful. Not one capitalist at any point in time has given up a cent from his pocket or profits so that people will not suffer. And they actually have the nerve to claim that poor people are poor because they are either lazy,
@DojoNDude or not smart enough or they simply lack the potential so in a sense they shouldn't complain, just know their place in society. Well ain't that a treat?!? So poor people are to blame for them being poor. And thank the lord we have the rich people that are kind enough to let us work for them for crumbs.
the crap is hitting the fan in California too (worlds 5th largest economy)... as it is now going bankrupt, yet pays its civil servants lush retirements many over 100,000 dollars a year! (cops at $137,000 on average)... no way in hell to pay that from the now collapsed tax base... so what does the state do? it tries to raise taxes on people... and property taxes and taffic fines for people out of work....with no way to pay any of it.
Actually JP Morgan and Thomas Edison STOLE the electric light from Tesla. FULFORD is bloodline to an inter-connected illuminati family. He is focused on the US government and not mentioning the main instigators. The vatican, Black Pope and the Royal famly or black nobility. The idea is to give just enough truth about the target government, USA so that the citizens will become disgusted. then they will accept the UN as an alternative and their lie about bring peace......clever.
We have 2 choices, we can all pay for the insatiable greed of the rich, out of our own pockets, or we can let the streets run red with their spoils. It's really your choice.
Michael Moore Why Dont you cover any stories on the Bilderberg meetings, Council on Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commision, Federal Reserve and other Corporate and Fincancial Oligarchs that control Global Politics.
yea no kidding. The fed has gotta be one of the most power hungry conspiracy laden corrupt institutions ever created by man. I'm talking "final solution" quality evil here.
You live in a dream if you think that Obama or/and any president of yours is the Messiah... what you don't get guys is that you are governed by the corporatocracy.. U.S and Greece are functioning on the same principles.. the only difference is the infrastructure which is worse in Greece, that is why we hit the roads... The only way to save our asses is to understand that the power is profit and is the guy with the money is the king.. not the governments or constitutions..Those are for sale..
Make the people who caused the economic crisis and made billions off the economic crisis pay for the economic crisis -- where do these workers come up with such ideas? Oh, they're Greeks, so they study philosophers like Karl Marx, and they probably don't have television channels telling them 24 hours a day how wrong and evil he was.
We Americans are too lazy to get up off the couch. We're also afraid we might lose our jobs if we rock the boat. Well guys...it's time to ROCK!!!!! Take a lesson from the Greek. We need to fight back, too!
good luck getting a general strike over here. If the American people can't get worked up after "SiCKO" and "Capitalism: A Love Story", I don't know what will get through to them.
@rickbar123 has it right on starvation. A systemic-level interruption of the agro-industrial complex for even a short time would leave cities without enough food for the populace. That's a riot waiting to happen.
I will take a different view on cable TV. It's removal might in fact be the tipping point to get people back in contact with those around them, and kick-start a social revolution where we all get back to helping each other. Sure, it's a pipe dream, but it's my pipe dream.
"It's removal might in fact be the tipping point to get people back in contact with those around them,"
Actually in the Great Depression people kept to themselves much, much more.
I know that we have had several crises in the past decade here and there wasn't anything like a community coming together as is commonly imagined. Not even once.

I just don't understand how Greece went into so much turmoil?
I mean I thought socialism was the greatest thing. Harvard said so..
Didn't the Greek government tax the rich enough?
Didn't the Greek government give enough entitlements to the unions?
Didn't the Greek government give enough special rights to minorities?
Hmmmmmm
I just don't understand this could happen...

Rammagith 1 year ago
@Rammagith the unions are not responsible for this crisis., the bankers and politicians are. Unions exist because of the abuse, even deaths of workers that historically occur without them. Stop sling'in the disinformation and propaganda. This is about oligarchy and fascism, not sociaism. The New World Order is creating the crisis.
nbrown1378 1 year ago
@Rammagith dont be stupid..the unions didnt do this..your capitalist bullshit did this, on purpose i might add
panathabro 1 year ago
@panathabro ...K, you think that capitalism did this, when Greece has a retirement age of approx. 51 yrs old, has ridiculous pension benefits, huge government overspending, and psychotic union groups going on strike bc the gov says their nation is going under, but thinks throwing fireballs at cops and buildings is the fucking answer? Don't lecture me on reality or sanity. AND dont worry, we USA citizens are headed to a FAR WORSE fate than you when China calls in our debt. So relax in that.

@Rammagith How
did retirement at 51 do this??? They wasted tge money elsewhere now they can't pay the retiree At 51 as agreed. Cuz ur countries retirement is 60+ doesn't make it logical. Goldman Sachs an Aig and the European banks did this Mimd you all the 50+ I know are still working

How about the people blame the government for causing the problem in Greece instead of banks? Oh! I forgot that we're dealing with communists and socialists here.
rtgoodson 1 year ago
@rtgoodson Maybe because the government failed to protect the people from the banks. Or to make it simpler for you, because the government worked closely with the Greek and US banks to take the money from the Greek people and make them bonuses. Maybe because the government bailed out with 28 billion euros the banks and now they don't have money to pay the pensions. If you still can't get it's maybe because you're ignorant.
billyyo13 1 year ago
@billyyo13 Or maybe the government caused the problem to begin with like my original statement. Moving on.
rtgoodson 1 year ago
@rtgoodson wow you need to pickup a book and research as your absolutely out of the loop, once you do so you'll notice how idiotic you sound right now. The banks disturb me but beyond that the people disturb me atm, this could easily be fixed if people would stop gorging on mass propaganda and think for themselves.
Seems the Greeks have the knowledge but violence will only hinder them rather than help them in the big picture. Hopefully their courage will wake some people up though.
zulauk 1 year ago
@zulauk I really don't need to pick up anything considering I'm well educated. Moving on. These protests are nothing more than a revolt against a bloated government that has failed to balance its national interests and financial capabilities. Fact remains that the government is to blame in this. Not the banks. Not the people.
rtgoodson 1 year ago
@rtgoodson Once one personally digs deeper there is always more than what meets the eye, especially in these circumstances. Education and intellect doesn't equate to wisdom or discernment of the minor truths in worldly matters. Blame really needs no home within any of us as its counterproductive.
My statement is the fact that it all comes down to each of us as the individuals whom create the society to take actions to preserve ourselves... I have no reason to debate on blame as its irrelevant.
zulauk 1 year ago
@rtgoodson true true but financial instititutions, specifically american ones had a huge role to play...goldman sold derivatives to greek politicians, making a killing while sending greece into the abyss
panathabro 1 year ago
@zulauk However, you can make the argument that the blame goes to all. The government is going to have to cut its entitlement system and people don't like that and certain groups are using this for their own goals. This is the future of the USA in case you're wondering.
rtgoodson 1 year ago
@rtgoodson y should they cut entightlement programs? isnt that y we pay taxes? did the farmer or the fisherman or the plumber cause this..they work and pay taxes thats all....the bankers and politicans and goldman sachs did this...they should pay not the fisherman and please dont say entitlement like its a freebie....people work decades on the cheap to get there "entitlements"

Don't make this a Greece-Turkey war. There is no point.
BassAoi 2 years ago 2
I don't understand the meaning of the phrase "...what the greek people are willing to accept". The greeks have overspent, and the bond market is simply unwilling to lend their money to allow that policy to continue. If the greeks refuse to change, then the cheques will start bouncing...full stop. They've lost the freedom to choose.
cannuckistan 2 years ago
@cannuckistan Which Greeks overspent? I don't remember receiving any money and overspending it. So the real issue here is WHO abused any funds received and WHY should we the Greek people have to pay for the mess. I am most certainly not willing nor going to pay for any problems OTHERS have created. And instead of blaming people (Greeks, French no matter) maybe we should blame and go after the ones responsible. Who you might ask? I don't know....Capitalists, golden boys etc etc. how about it?
BassAoi 2 years ago 2
@BassAoi I'm not really seeking to attach blame to anyone, I'm just pointing out that if the greek gov. wants to continue its policies with the bond market's money, then that's not going to work anymore. Greece has had longstanding and persistant current account deficits for years; the 'chickens have come home to roost'. Btw, I loved my vacations there..so I hope you resolve the situation soon.

Capitalism don't work in long term, Just like communism and socialism. Nothing works. People are greedy, selfish, and condemn forever.
noformstyle 2 years ago
We have never tried communism/socialism. (direct democracy, workers control)
Maybe it is too risky. Then at least building upa Welfare State and Taxing the rich should be tried world wide
nonameposter 2 years ago
I wouldn't say risky. And taxing the rich won't happen. They've been around for too long so they own the system. Because they are in fact the system. What to do? Change the system. At some point something will work. But you have to try otherwise you are not doing anything and you remain passive waiting for a miracle that will never happen.
BassAoi 2 years ago
Considering that you have never seen long term applications of communism or socialsim for that matter and the fact that we experience capitalism since god knows when then you should at least give these ideologies a chance. At least a chance. Even though you can claim that they might fail long term, the things the USSR for example accomplished in 50 years the rest of the world has yet to even imagine. I only suggest trying something before condemning or rejectin it. Within reason of course.
BassAoi 2 years ago
And people aren't greedy and selfish. At least to the extend you say they are. If we were that messed up we would have destroyed ourselves looooong ago. That we are these things is a stupid notion perpetuated by people in control so that we turn on each other rather than going after the ones responsible for the mess the world is in.

BassAoi 2 years ago
First, thank you my friends for being civilised something rare on Youtube. As for Greece, Greece still waits for money owed to her from as back as WWII. In any case EU won't suffer from strikes either from Greece or anywhere else. Capitalists use the "crisis" we are in to further dig their hands in our pockets. I wrote "crisis" because although we are supposed to be in deep shit close to collapse, somehow most if not all major corps are making one hell of a profit!! Anyone care to explain how?
BassAoi 2 years ago
NorceCodine 2 years ago
Yes, but the problem for the Greeks here is that they feel the bankers should pay for this problem. Since they are the ones who caused it. The bankers are trying to get out of paying anything.
The part about EU regards the economical problem prolonged strikes will cause.
Maybe the EU won't be able to assist Greece that well which could lead to a break away from the EU.
Tzimnewman3 2 years ago
How do you put the skids under the Euro? Add a little Greece
benolly22 2 years ago
@benolly22 If only Greece hadn't taken the Euro. Apart from the historic value of the drachma everything's price skyrocketed. The Euro is one of the best scams ever. Best example is bottled water of 500ml. Old price 50 drachma. New price 50 cents. Get it? People still pay 50 in numbers but actually it's the triple value since 1euro=340.7 drachmes. That's the Euro for you.
BassAoi 2 years ago
@BassAoi I agree with you that the euro was a bad move for Greece, You can`t even print more money to get yourselves out of trouble,But there has been some serious mismanagement of funds and `cooking of the books` which the rest of Europe will have to pay for.
benolly22 2 years ago
Unlike the US we can't just print money out of nowhere. There are different rules regarding currency here. Mismanagement is a given otherwise noone would profit. As for Europe paying for this I assume you mean the people including Greeks and not Europe as a Union. EU money comes from EU citizens. Which basically means the money EU lends to Greece, for example, gets it FROM Greece in the first place. They are not giving the money out of their own pockets. It's a very clever scheme..

You have to work for less otherwise you don't work at all. And that's everywhere not just Greece. Capitalists will keep exploiting people. Period. immigranter 2 years ago
BassAoi 2 years ago
@Bass, well put.
atlantoon 2 years ago
@immigranter 99.9999999% of the wealthy are capable of anything. They haven't earned their money through hard work. If that were the case how filthy rich should a person working 3 jobs to support his family become? So it becomes obvious that it's not hard work that makes you rich. It's greed and ruthlessness. So would'nt you think it would be prudent to not allow this kind of people to dictate our lives? I think so.
BassAoi 2 years ago
again @BassAoi: I agree with you. People who work hard, use their God given talents, or have a desire to really help society are the most ripped off.
atlantoon 2 years ago
The riches people aren't necessarly after money, they have all the money they'll ever need, they want power. Hence the Billderberg Group.
immigranter 2 years ago
@immigranter They are after the money because without them they will loose the power. And through power they obtain more money. It's a two way equation. Hence why they do not give even a little of their wealth to the poor. In MM's Sicko Tony Benn phrased it in the best way: "Keep the people poor, uneducated and demoralised and they will do as you wish. A healthy and educated populace is harder to control." Now you know why there is no UniHealthcare in the US.
BassAoi 2 years ago
And that's exactly why they say mercury is good for you and sunlight is bad (Yes UV can be bad if you receive too much of it, but sunlight provides your body with vitamins). I also heard that they are planning to reduce the planet's population to a "more manageable" 500 000 000, by 2020. Scary. It's written in the Georgia Lime Stones I believe. My question is to them WHY? WHAT IS THE POINT? and TO WHOM ARE YOU TRYING TO PROVE THAT POINT?
immigranter 2 years ago
@immigranter Although I heard the rumors myself about population size control I think of it as a bit too much BUT that said, I wouldn't be surprised if it was actually true. As to why? That's a bit rhetorical. I mean why wage wars when you can have peace? Why hate when you can love etc etc. We the people have simply been strategically deprived of common sense and the ability to think and criticise so that we can be used as slaves. Not even needing chains to hold us. Typical old story occuring
BassAoi 2 years ago
@immigranter again and again throughout history. Once more things will towards the worst possible outcome if people don't stand up and fight. Plain and simple. Not fight in a poetic or romantic kind of way. Actually fight. For their right to live. We have reached a point where survival is considered living! Imagine that. Don't know your source, and I may be thumbed down but according to what has been published, the strikes were mainly civil servants or public officers, in fear of losing benefits when the Greek state finally starts cutting their huge governmental spending, one of their main needs now.
miguelsotoseudonimo 2 years ago
Strikes were composed of workers in the private sector, farmers as well as others. But it is expected to be presented differently by the media . I am from Greece and was on the streets yesterday. Why strike? Because I have a Uni degree and I am looking at a future of minimum wage, if that! And why? Well why woud a capitalist pay anyone a proper wage? They're in there for the profit right? And since there are other more desperate people that are willing to work for less, there you go.
BassAoi 2 years ago
You're exactly right. America used to balance the rampant self-interest of capitalists with idealism and democratic government, but the capitalists spent many years slandering government and perverting our idealism. The neocons are pure capitalists and the Democrats can't figure out what's worse - angry people or angry corporations. And with the media in the hands of people like Rupert Murdoch, you gotta wonder where it's all heading :/
DojoNDude 2 years ago
@DojoNDude Unfortunately my friend you cannot balance capitalism with anything. No matter how good your intentions may be. Because the nature of the system is such that people, all people regardless of class will suffer sooner or later. Except of course the rich & powerful. Not one capitalist at any point in time has given up a cent from his pocket or profits so that people will not suffer. And they actually have the nerve to claim that poor people are poor because they are either lazy,
BassAoi 2 years ago
@DojoNDude or not smart enough or they simply lack the potential so in a sense they shouldn't complain, just know their place in society. Well ain't that a treat?!? How long until we see an Athens Commune?

Perhaps this is the start of people running out patience with (or tolerance of,) the corporate influences on supposed democracies.
If that is the case, let's hope more people in more countries get on board.

"But the Greek workers are *made* as hell and they're not going to take it so they took to the streets instead."
Check your spelling.

Why is this female reporter talking like she's being chased down a hill by rebel forces?
Is it because the strike footage is of people simply standing around doing nothing?

We Americans are too lazy to get up off the couch. We're also afraid we might lose our jobs if we rock the boat. Well guys...it's time to ROCK!!!!! Take a lesson from the Greek. We need to fight back, too!

good luck getting a general strike over here. If the American people can't get worked up after "SiCKO" and "Capitalism: A Love Story", I don't know what will get through to them.

starvation
loss of the ability to pay for cable TV might work
rickbar123 2 years ago
@rickbar123 has it right on starvation. A systemic-level interruption of the agro-industrial complex for even a short time would leave cities without enough food for the populace. That's a riot waiting to happen.
I will take a different view on cable TV. It's removal might in fact be the tipping point to get people back in contact with those around them, and kick-start a social revolution where we all get back to helping each other. Sure, it's a pipe dream, but it's my pipe dream.

Actually in the Great Depression people kept to themselves much, much more.
I know that we have had several crises in the past decade here and there wasn't anything like a community coming together as is commonly imagined. Not even once.
