I went down a 13km hill in slightly over 10min, it wasnt nearly as steap as the hill you where in. I managed to keep an avarage speed of about 75km/h.
But then again I had skis. (and a shitload of stanima)
@PotatisSlottet Yeah, I'm better on skis anyway, and they are much faster. The main issue with blades is stability, plus the bindings on mine weren't the same as skis, and had a habit of coming off when I hit bumps at high speeds. That 13km run wasn't in alp d'huez was it?
@willyboy555 I never tried blades, so I wouldnt know much about that, but I se the problem of stability. The 13 km pist was in the Austrian alps, Bad Gastein. A red piste going around the Schlossalm peak down to Bad Hofgastein. You can find a map by searching Bad Gastein on google.

@MrMadheadmike yere skis are faster due to stability and control. that surface area example isnt true as more surface area the slower it is due o friction, thats why skis are soo much faster than snowbords. But skis are faster than blades as on blades you have hardley and stability and the kick you get when you come form a steep bit onto a smother bit is ridiculas and can easily throw you off.

Namely, the water on the bottom of your skiis (or whichever) and that of the snow. So you see, the more area you have, the faster you should go. Take an extreme example of having only the sole of your feet's worth of surface area.

If you only had the sole of feet's worth of surface area, there would be too much pressure for any 'sliding' ie movement to occur. Whereas, if you considered yourself on a huge sheet of ski material, you'd travel very indeed. So, by physics and chemistry alone, you should now agree that greater surface area equates to greater speed (given all other variables stay the same).

It takes guts to blade that Yeti slope, I have snowboarded it, but still I think it's the easiest black slope of the Portes du Soleil and region, definitively would be a red one in Chamonix.

It's Les Gets on the France/Switzerland border.

The worst part of those steep hills at the bottom of a mountain is the fact that you have to go from 10-30 mph to 0 or you'll hit a building or a person.

Why cant people understand that POV perspective on camera will not do the angle of the slope any justice?! I am not a skier, but a climber. I often taken photos and videos of horrendously steep summits and edges that I dangle off but when I show them to people they look like the ski equivalent of a nursery slope!

@unlimited00 do the math, 1000 metres in 50 seconds is an average of 45mph, not allowing for acceleration and deceleration, and the sign at the top.... remind me what colour that was? Also if you had ever tried blades (don't) you would realise why it's difficult to go any faster than that.

@willyboy555 It was probly designated a black run, but they err on the side of caution when identifying runs. If it's a "blue and a half" they'll make it a black. So even tho this was pretty steep, it wasn't a tough black by any standard. Everyone arguing that it's not a black is retarded, read the sign, it obviously is, but there also should be no argument coming back to them that it's super steep or anything, we can see from the video it's not a difficult run at all.
@MrJD1291 Well in europe we have green (beginner) blue (beginner) red (advanced) and black (advanced+), so if anything it was a tricky red. I agree, it wasnt a tough black, but it was tough going downhill on blades at those speeds. this was purely to see how fast blades are in comparison to ski's - not very - and i chose this run because it was steep enough to get some good speed, but not so steep that it would kill me and destroy my camera if I fell off. Cheers for clearing things up.

@Zenwork yes, an easy blue, its all just a trick, i put the camera on fast forward, and spent hours bending the chair lift poles to make the slope look steeper, and painted the blue sign at the top black..... it cost me £3million to do it, but i think it was worth it. Dick.

they are not too bad, moguls you just take a bit slower, and off piste you just have to lean back a bit further on them so the front of the blade doesnt jam in and you faceplant. they make for some interesting skiing put it that way.
@SwiftDx Well i didnt measure the thing, but its the estimate i was given. and i agree, it does look like a fast forward play, but thats because its extremely hard to hold a camera and keep balance at those speeds, so the camera wobbles a lot. you can tell its not FF because the sound is normal on it. it took me two tries, the first i fell at the bottom.
That black run looks really scary I wouldnt turn on that run cuz im not that good I would just keep falling down on that type of run im more of the blue and red. Is the chair lift really scary cuz i go on a ski trip in december and I have to use a chair lift and Ive never used one in my life. The only lift I used was a pole one and one which looks like an elavatour.

I've skied black runs that would qualify as reds anywhere else, and reds that are certainly black by normal standards.

i would say it was a kilometer or that you were going 45 mph. it was also a really easy black run. HOWEVER because you were on blades i have to admit that was very impressive. ive only skied so i can imagine how hard that is

Why cant people understand that POV perspective on camera will not do the angle of the slope any justice?! I am not a skier, but a climber. I often taken photos and videos of horrendously steep summits and edges that I dangle off but when I show them to people they look like the ski equivalent of a nursery slope!
People need to understand this before they shoot their mouth off making ridiculous comments - I would hazard a guess most of you have never skied in your lives.

@unlimited00 do the math, 1000 metres in 50 seconds is an average of 45mph, not allowing for acceleration and deceleration, and the sign at the top.... remind me what colour that was? Also if you had ever tried blades (don't) you would realise why it's difficult to go any faster than that.

@Corklord listen cocklord; can i call you cocklord? ok good... look at the black sign at the top, inverted commas are not needed, and maybe because im holding the camera it doesnt look as steep, but i average 40mph, and the only reason i didnt go faster was because at the time i was wearing blades, which are much more unstable at high speeds than ski's. im going again this year, so ill pick an even steeper black, and go even faster, just for you amigo.

@willyboy555 It was probly designated a black run, but they err on the side of caution when identifying runs. If it's a "blue and a half" they'll make it a black. So even tho this was pretty steep, it wasn't a tough black by any standard. Everyone arguing that it's not a black is retarded, read the sign, it obviously is, but there also should be no argument coming back to them that it's super steep or anything, we can see from the video it's not a difficult run at all.

@MrJD1291 Well in europe we have green (beginner) blue (beginner) red (advanced) and black (advanced+), so if anything it was a tricky red. I agree, it wasnt a tough black, but it was tough going downhill on blades at those speeds. this was purely to see how fast blades are in comparison to ski's - not very - and i chose this run because it was steep enough to get some good speed, but not so steep that it would kill me and destroy my camera if I fell off. Cheers for clearing things up.

@Zenwork yes, an easy blue, its all just a trick, i put the camera on fast forward, and spent hours bending the chair lift poles to make the slope look steeper, and painted the blue sign at the top black..... it cost me £3million to do it, but i think it was worth it. Dick.

they are not too bad, moguls you just take a bit slower, and off piste you just have to lean back a bit further on them so the front of the blade doesnt jam in and you faceplant. they make for some interesting skiing put it that way.

@SwiftDx Well i didnt measure the thing, but its the estimate i was given. and i agree, it does look like a fast forward play, but thats because its extremely hard to hold a camera and keep balance at those speeds, so the camera wobbles a lot. you can tell its not FF because the sound is normal on it. it took me two tries, the first i fell at the bottom.

That black run looks really scary I wouldnt turn on that run cuz im not that good I would just keep falling down on that type of run im more of the blue and red. Is the chair lift really scary cuz i go on a ski trip in december and I have to use a chair lift and Ive never used one in my life. The only lift I used was a pole one and one which looks like an elavatour.
