Hhey thanks Gonzo! They've been born, just over 4 weeks ago -- Elise Delilah and Althea Olive -- I'm sending you pics privately. Thanks for the "followup video" suggestion -- we'll be making one soon!
HA! Gwar...that's a name I've not heard in years. I'm far removed from my gwar days my friend. :) Can't believe I actually listened to that at one time...oh the foolishness of youth.
That was pretty creative. I espically liked the little guitar lick that you put in during the "of twins" cards. Excellent video. Keep up the good work and congrats.
Hey thanks! Indeed, "freaked out" is a very mild way of describing their reaction - we had them on speakerphone as they watched it -- my Mom went nuts -- update: it's almost week 19 now, and it's GIRLS! :-) :-)
i'm already doing performances for them through the belly, showing them the way of the blues, as it occurs to me. :) you'll be in my shoes someday, because i was in yours - and it'll all be good, bro
hey thanks, man! we'll find out if they're boys or girls in about 4 weeks - can't wait! I'm fully confident you and your twin brother pulled all the traditional identical twin pranks? Like dating the same chicks and ditching class while covering for the other?
It's a good thing---double trouble was SRV's back up band---that's why I mentioned the power trio thing. I figure One child could play Bass and the other Drums. I have your live and there's all planned. lol Can't help but dream. Have a good one Buddy! Congrats! TO BOTH OF YOU!
Aw Greg, THANK YOU!! No worries about skipping this vid... it was all a disguise. :-) Neither of them will be born with a guitar, actually... one will have a pair of drum sticks, and the other one a bass. Maybe. Congratulations to your sister as well, Uncle Greg! I'll keep you posted, brother.
humble thanks, eddie - our families soiled themselves. we listened to their reactions over the phone as they watched. needless to say, it was pandemonium.
WOW, congrats man! great vid.your playin' is comin' along very well these days. I know I havn't posted anything in a long time but it's only becauce I don't have a camera and the sound quality on the web cam is crap. I'll try and share some of the lastest grooves with you soon.
No problem, Well yeah I meant Happy Mothers Day to the ladies.... lol
Honey is sounding pretty good too, Ive been contemplating a semi hollow since I have been getting into the blues and jazz recently. Any suggestions for getting a nice bluesy-jazzy tone from my Strat?
Hey thanks! A semi-hollow is a great choice for blues/jazz because I think they're so versatile. I've found my best tones come on the clean channel with zero overdrive and a slight bit of reverb but not much. If you play on the dirty channel, then I think medium volume and just enough drive so that with normal playing it's clean, but sink the pick into it and it begins to break up, just enough. Clean tones are the best for jazz, and if it's got just enough bite, there's the blues. :-)
Once again, "double trouble" is linked to the blues. I'm pretty sure I saw a 3rd head in there; you'd better consult another doctor. Huge congratulations to you both!
David -- thanks so much, friend. Double Trouble is right on the money, as I expect any fruit that falls from MY tree to be just as troublesome as I ever was. (er, am)
we can't believe it either! i don't know if I was double potent or she was double fertile, or we split eggs or what.... we're thrilled! Thanks very much, darlin'... *big hug*
Hi Jane! OMG is right! We were floored when we found out it was TWO! Regarding the former video from a few months ago - that one sadly ended as a miscarriage, but very early (4 weeks I think) -- this pregnancy is #2, featuring 2 babies! :-) Again- our thanks!
Wow!!! Your mother and I are still floating on air, and wondering if we are dreaming. It's been about 5 hours since you called us to watch the video together, and we still can't get the smiles off our faces and wipe off the tears of joy. Hats off to you for coming up with an unbelievably dramatic way to make the announcement. We were blown away. Thank you both for making this an unforgettable Mother's day.
I undrestand now why you didn't put guitar vidéo since a few moments, you were busy to make baby, and you did it so well you made two babyes, respect sir, good Job.
Regular, and probably overdone, updates will of course be on the future menu! Heck, I'll probably make them their own websites and youtube channels! Thanks very much, my friend from across the pond! This news adds an unknown measure of time to my getting that Gretsch, and I'm perfectly okay with that. :-)
Mr. Chris dude, Mrs. "Mr. Chris dude's wife" (sorry for now knowing the real name, but that's the best thing I could figure out), that's one great Mother's Day present!
Yeah, I imagined that would be the case. I wonder how you kept your calm playin' while doing this... enjoy them, dude! ( and DON'T THROW YER LOVELY PETS, NO MATTER HOW MANY DOCS WILL SAY THAT, AYE? THEY CAN SURELY COHABIT!!)
good point about the pets -- doc's already told us that cats are fine, it's cat poop that isn't fine -- so, I have happily stepped up as a father and taken over litter box duty. I've always had a strange appreciation for cleaning litter boxes though -- it's like digging for buried treasure, and I didn't have a sand-box as a kid.
They said the dog's fine, too. He's never been allowed to sleep on our bed anyway, though if I'd had MY way, ol' Oyster would've been sleeping at the foot of the bed for years. Alas, she made that rule a long time ago.
Aye, ok. And one small thing: when your kids will be around 4 or so, they'll have a great interest in messing with stuff (happened to me, so it all seems recent)... you may want to hook your guitar either somewhere safe (both for it and for the kids). *of course, I messed with my dad's disc jockey station when I was young, I ruined the pickups...
Enjoy every moment with them and make some videos with them so that you'll cherish every moment and then show them the videos. They'll love it.
A little warning. Your lives are about to change in a very dramatic way. The things that used to seem important will take a back seat to the kids. As they should.
Thank you, Mark! Though I "have no idea," (and know it) I'll agree that things are changing rapidly already. Thanks so much, man... now you know why I've been so quiet lately - keeping this kinda news to myself is contrary to my core personality, so whew, the cats are outta the bag. :-)
hhhaa!!! thanks robert!! Actuallym they HAVE seen it - I woke them up to watch this video at 8:30am. My mother squealed for approx 3 minutes before catching her breath. They freaked when they knew what the news was, and then they completely lost it when they found out it was TWINS. Wish I had a recording of what they looked like, but they were certainly shocked in that special, amazing way. Thanks again my friend!
