Nice intro..! I'm waiting on my Coinmaster to get here and can't sleep...I'm in New Orleans and believe I'll find a lot of treasures because of that bitch Katrina. Good Luck in 2012
@SAINTSURF Hey I have a coinmaster for 2 years now. Look me up on facebook. Shawn Himmelberger. I help run a page also. ( I Dig History) just type that in the search part on facebook. we have pver 500 members and do free silver contest. last person won a free merc.
great job on the purchase , i also have an mxt ,and an E-trac , the mxt is a great machine but i dont know if what the other guy said is accurate i also like the mxt better for relic hunting but for coins i would take the E-trac over any other machine except the gpx5000 for really deep stuff
It's a good thing you upgraded the machine or you would have never found that washer! Haha. Kidding! It's the name of the game. I'm thinking of an upgrade from the ace 250 here soon, but just don't know what to get yet.
Very nice MXT. That's the detector I been wanting to get. How did u manage to get it that cheap plush with the head phones and pro pointier? Can I get that same package deal for the same price? If so do they have a web site so I can order one
@Lapp6192 I just give 'em a rinse under some running water and scrub with a toothbrush. If it were a rare coin or a silver coin I would be more careful while cleaning them but I have moved away from using any chemicals.
@Lapp6192 Yes, if you are looking to sell it then I would not advise cleaning it, but if you want it to look nice for a collection, then cleaning it isn't a big deal.
Great detector ! and Finds. woo weights 4 pounds thats as much as my garrett infinium, its so heavy i have to mount it on my waist lol. I still love my F75, weights like 2.5 pounds.

I have an MXT and and Etrac. I love the MXT and still use it for relic hunting (Digging in VA) and at tot lots to get close to the metal swings and fences. I agree with stonewallbook. Run it in his setting. I also loved the 4x6 excelerator coil. The MXT with the 4x6 could smoke any detector up to 8". I still regularly pull more coins with the MXT per hour of hunt then the etrac.
Ryan, I am so excited for you and your new metal detector! 2012 is going to be great! Hey check out that CO2 cartridge because I dug one up like that and it turned out to be a handle to some old utensil! Maybe off an old cook stove or something! Hey, loved your intro!
Congrats on your new purchase and have fun with it. Noticed you retreated to the pro pointer instead of the pinpointer II, good choice. Reason why though? HH
@MrJohnson448 I like the Pro Pointer better, its much more compact and easier to probe the hole with. Always good to have a back up! Thanks for watching. HH.
Run it in Relic Mode, trigger forward. Gain as hot as you can run it and keep the machine stable, Disc at 3. Start out digging all high tones until you learn the machine. I have 4 machines including the T2SE, AT Pro, and 1266X and the MXT Pro is still my primary unit. Love it. She's a real work horse and built like a tank. Only use C&J to check target value.
@stonewallbook Thanks for the info. I've done a little detecting with the trigger forward but wasn't sure what it did. Will give it a try again next time I'm out. HH.
Awesome new detector! Hope you find some cool things with it. Haven't had a chance to use mine much but hoping to soon. Those pin pointers sure come in handy. Hopefully you'll get lucky and find some more gold rings or any kind of gold jewelery with it and maybe some silver. Good luck on your future hunts.
I wouldnt trade my mxt pro for anything.... Good luck. cch

I have a question for you. How do you go about cleaning the coins that you find ???
Lapp6192 1 month ago
@Lapp6192 I just give 'em a rinse under some running water and scrub with a toothbrush. If it were a rare coin or a silver coin I would be more careful while cleaning them but I have moved away from using any chemicals.
RecoveringRelics 1 month ago
@RecoveringRelics - Thanks. If chemicals are used and the coin comes out looking shiny again, that lowers the value of the coin, correct ???
