  • Do you mind if I use this in a video of mine?

  • @Jangwoofilms not at all!! Go right ahead!! ;)

  • @RagtimeFreak86

    Thanks!

  • lol playing this on the piano hahaha sounds worse tuned haha

  • i used this to add the embellishments to my recording :P

  • There seems to be a slight discrepancy between the audio & video...

  • ...Took me an hour to find the perfect "sheet music" video on YT. I am fascinated by the technology from yesteryear - and I love the old ragtime tunes! Let's keep on playing them forever!!

  • @kurtkhaos I'm glad you enjoy this crazy stuff!..haha

  • do you want to sell this piano?? love the ropey sound..dont tune it! :)

  • I love your video description, "its a song"... I LOL'd

  • as far as tuning goes i think it sounds great for ragtime or at least this song. very nice!

  • I just love to hear these pieces in the style they would have been played some 100 years back.

Really good reference stuff, totally authentic.

  • i lol'd

  • A fine piece and a fine instrument....I hope you post as many pieces as possible!!

  • This is one my all-time favorite cake-walks !

  • lulz

  • What is racist? you, maybe, for assuming everything has something to do with race.

  • Good riddance to your rudeness GGap23. Too bad your ignorance and education do not allow you to know (or perhaps care) that this music was part of the historic American music culture 100 (and more) years ago. Hopefully in your next 18 years you will garner some education, manners, and understanding.

Smoky Mokes was part of the large volume of rags written during the time of Scott Joplin, though this rag/cakewalk was written by Holzmann.

  • Yeah, I quite enjoy this piece of music because it's just such a wonderful example of the bridge between the music of the civil war and early ragtime. The only part of this tune that I despise is actually the title, since both "smokey" and "moke" were racist terms.

  • What make roll is this? U.S., Connorized, Aeolian, ? This is a fairly nice arrangement!

  • It's an antique Supertone roll. One of these days i hope to repost these piano rolls with my piano IN tune... THANKS.

  • it actually like it out of tune cause it makes it feel old

  • I tune pianos!!!! If your close to me (Southern Illinois) I will give you a deal!!

  • it's an early Supertone role

    arranged by A.Hozmann

    thanks.....:)

  • "Smoky Mokes, a cakewalk and two-step" by Abe Holzmann (1899)

  • Maybe someone who looks for the sheet music is interested in additional information. If you don't need it, don't read my comments.
