@Scoobmeister Here in Australia we had TL Bedfords with 6V53's. We didn't get the bigger TM model with the 71 series Detroits. Two strokes were also made by Commer, Krupp, Maz, foden and UD Japan. The military have still quite a line up of V8 diesels. I've heard some very noisy straight sixes in my time, so i'm not sure about noise emmisions. Now that trucks are mandated with cat converters, i'm not sure about emmision requirements either. Good engineering would overcome these problems.

scania inspires strong reactions doesn't it - people either love them or HATE them. I'm a driver in the uk. I've mostly driven mercs, volvos and dafs, plus sometimes iveco, man and scania (and erf if you've heard of them). they're all just tools at the end of the day, the only one i hated was the merc actros (and erf!), but i found scania and daf just seem to work best for the driver, particularly in visibility, build quality and cab comfort. I found Iveco Stralis surprisingly good but plasticy.
As a driver I'd wish that Scania soon started to build a truck that we can USE to drive, instead of just worship their reputation. They were king of the road in the seventies, but after that all the others have passed them. :(

I meant shaped like theirs (non-cabover style), not the actual brands like Kenworth etc. I'd have thought they'd have been more popular since that shape would surely be more aerodynamic than the cabover shape, and therefore use less fuel, and the fuel prices here are quite high usually.

Fact is, European cars are sold everywhere, and those that have done not too bad for themselves in life, drive them wherever they're sold. Can the same be said of most American vehicles, apart from the very best like the Z06, ZR-1, Ford GT etc.? They sell US-style trucks here too, but they're rare, probably for a good reason...

Chryslers and Cadillacs can be bought here, they're not that huge, but they're made poorly and have crappy interiors, their economy is actually quite good for such a big engine tho. TBH I'm mostly being facetious since nobody makes really "shit" cars anymore, apart from maybe the Chinese...

@cl998 Actually most people in America drive Japanese cars, everyone knows about European cars, sure the interior of SOME BMW's are nice but after 5 years it's time to let a European car go, Mercedes has god awful interior quality the past 10 years, Audi's are to overpriced and nothing special about them.
I admit American cars in the past 15 years were crap, but look at them now, 5.0 Mustang, Ford Taurus, Ford F series, Chrysler 300, Buick Lacross are all examples of American quality cars.

Not saying all Jap cars are "rice", I will admit that we probably also did unfortunately contribute to those stupid "rice" mods, and Honda fans making stupid "my Civic goes through worse than that" comments on a vid of a Wrangler going through a metre of snow probably also come from here. I also agree about Ford, they've REALLY stepped their game up here since they make about the best "normal" cars here, and from what you say, there too...

@cl998 there is a reason, europe has tight roads, therefore all trucks have a maximum wheelbase limit, and most american trucks exceed that limit, thats why you see so many cabovers without much of a sleepercab. those extra long american trucks would'nt be legal in most countries.

I meant shaped like theirs (non-cabover style), not the actual brands like Kenworth etc. I'd have thought they'd have been more popular since that shape would surely be more aerodynamic than the cabover shape, and therefore use less fuel, and the fuel prices here are quite high usually.

Piękna, ale czy aby nie przeradza się to w wyścig, która marka wyprodukuje najmocniejszy silnik. Już te 460 - 530, czy 660(Volvo) KM jest wystarczające. Chociaż nie ma co narzekać, im więcej, tym lepiej.
