good job on your vids!I love my k-1000 and my Kx,especially putting my 50mm f2.82 on my Kx or my sigma DG 70-300 f4 on both of them. But my question is on my K-1000 on the ISO selector between the numbers (200,400,800 ect) there are two dots could you please explain to me what they are used for?my other question is what would be a good intermediate lens that i can use on both the K-1000 &Kx,like around a 28x210 or something close to that? Thanks
@mohawkynot The 2 dots are intermediate values like: 100-125-160-200-250-320-400-etc. Regarding the lenses, there are tons of lenses you could buy, depends on what you want.
@surferboy36O .sorry i'm kinda new in photography, and i had 100 iso loaded and i changed it to 125 would that give me a differant EV valule or is it because the use of a differant lens?
@mohawkynot I don't understand. The lens you choose has nothing to do with it. If you dialled 125 instead of 100 it's a small difference (1/3 EV) so you shouldn't have a problem with your pictures. If your photo lab technician is skilled and knows what he deos, you could ask him to correct for that difference. This is called "pushing" the film, and is normally done with larger differences, for eg. 100->200 or 100->400.
Remember the light meter only takes an average of the ammount of light in the photo. If your taking a picture of a landscape you will want it to be just a little over exposed to get the right exposure in the landscape.
My mom just gave this to me today (it was hers when she was 18) because i wanted a SLR i took a couple pictures and it was easy. but thanks for this video!!! i learned alot. Where is the "meter" at though ? because i was taking pictures outside today and it was very Bright and i didn't realize a meter Please answer :-) Thanks for reading!
*it's called a cable shutter release.
*you should have put some pics you took at the end of the video!
inside where you attatch the lense there is a strip of felt like on the inside , mine is worn off and crumbly. will this affect the way my photos turn out.?? All of my pics seem to be very light and do not develope black and white in my darkroom. they are more gray than black and white. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong????
@kepikeeper The felt on the inside is absorb the shock of the mirror, you should replace it with a new one so the mirror doesn't get damaged, but it wont affect your photos. If your pictures are grey, it could be sveral problems, is the negative too light? too dark? It could also be bad developing or expired paper.
thank you for this I just got this camera from a friend but she didnt have the manual so you helped me out greatly... ill be using this camera this week im pretty excited. hopefully i can find some b/w film cuz that is what i really want to shoot so i was happy to hear you say it takes great black and whites. so again thank you
@hearsay99 Better which way? Must people don't realized that all a camera is, is a little black box that carries the film in a seal environment while you take your pictures. One of the most important things in photography after knowledge is the lens, then camera and when owning a flash or light system the camera comes in third...
hey mate hi there,,, thnx for the video.. just a quick question,, my camera works fine but i cant see the meter and i changed the battery but i cant remember what sort of battery to buy? do u know what is it called? i got this battery it fits but it doesnt work,, if u can help ,, please
@toolboxluis MS76 are Silver Oxide batteries, use LR44 as a replacement the difference is that they are alkaline which should last a little longer not like it will make that much of a difference.
Thanks man this helped me alot I just got this camera today at my class and Im so excited to finally take Black and white photos and I personally I like the black and white film the most
Great video. I found this camera in a bag at my parents house and they said I could have it. I'm going to be trying it out over the next couple weeks. Maybe I'll try some black and white before I jump into colours
It will pull up and make a tiny clicking sound (but not open). Then give it one last good tug to actually open it. It should spring back down after it's been pulled properly (and with any luck the camera will open up)
My Aunt gave me this camera. I'm used to digital cameras and I had no idea how it work's, lol. I got the basic function of the camera, it's just the batery part that I was iffy about but now I know it's not really neccisary to have it. Thank;s, man! great video and an awesome attitude as well!
Okay, I had no idea you could manipulate the meter by changing the shutter speed. I have no idea what I'm doing with my k1000 but this helps a lot. Thanks.
the cable release your talking about is most effective when your taking photos anything below 1/60th of a second as your not physically pressing the shutter down so the vibration is reduced, resulting in sharper pictures. not really what your talking about
i have the camera is quite good and i found it in a old store in the centre of town (wich is quite odd here) , but i need to know what i do to take black and white pictures?, is the film?, or the camera? (it have to be the film). thank you for the video it is great.

@GalaticTG That depends on the light conditions, contrast, and what you want to stand out, the land or the sky.
