  • Love this guy on drums! He's freakin' amazing! Looks like he's driving the bus man! You nigga have all my respect ! How anybody could dislike this? Love and Peace, to all universe ! Billy Kilson forever !

  • He just said I'm the mothafucka in the band. Ok?

  • Some people just have the gift and Bill is one of them. I guess if played every day for a couple years straight i could get there. I get the nasty face when he's rollin them sticks.

  • @fixurface1 I think Kilson has played every day for a little more than 2 years so i doubt that's enough haha

  • Seen Mr Kilson live many times and he is one top drummers out there! Kill Em Bill!!!

  • when i saw chris botti last friday in atlanta billy's drum stick snapped if half cause he was hitting so freaken hard

  • what a great song whats the name of it?

  • Money is a powerful drug... how a man this awesome got roped into this band... you wanna hear Billy Kilson, get some Dave Holland recordings.

  • this is fricken awesome though!

  • just saw him play today @ Heinz Hall in the burgh....amazing

  • Amazing!!

  • sexy bell

  • Sabians have such nice bells.

  • his groove swings.. really pushin it forward

  • creative. I love finding new approaches to drumming. He has me interested the whole time.

  • That was amazing I just saw Chris Botti and Billy Kilson at the Kennedy center last night. In my opinon Billy Kilson is the best drummer I've seen hands down

  • This guy is incredible!

It's as if he were saying

"Now that I have your attention, check this out!"

He is a master of creativity within the groove.

    So relaxed too.

props to the bass player and pianist for holding the groove at the end!

  • God i love this guy! He has the perfect balance of loud blazing licks with AMAZING dynamics with everything he does. I just about jumped out of my seat from 5:34-5:36. Check out "Not for Nothin'" by the Dave Holland Quintet. killin record.

  • Chris Botti is awesome - great musician and promoter of music for kids which I personally appreciate as I am a music teacher.

  • I can't tell how many times I had to laugh during this performance because of all the incredibly wild and wonderful tricks that Billy performed on his drums ... his beautifully executed fills, and the fantastic & PHAT grooves he laid down. Wow! Gotta check more of his playing out for sure! Thanks for posting this ENJOYABLE performance! Bad, bad dude to be sure!

  • u guys must be joking.billy kilson is a living legend!the solo is so awesome!out of this world man.

  • Chris Botti has a GREAT band here. All the musicians are awesome.

  • pocket is really jumpin. 5 stars :)

  • I saw Chris Botti in concert last night...The only word I can come up with to describe all of these guys is INCREDIBLE! Such an impressive talent!

  • Super funky and fun. Good to see some new chops out there!

  • he is a big actor! No doubt , very expressive and emotional, work on public. Another words, original.

But I like Dave Weckl's style.... Sorry, ladies :)

  • LOL Dave Weckyl hasnt played a funk groove in his life

  • Saw him on the Boston PBS special and my husband and I agree he is one of the best drummers we have ever seen or heard. Percussion beats and melodic changes magificent!

  • yo bro the way he raises his shoulders is awkward to you because you don't understand what groove really is and how everyone does it differently.. this dude is a master drummer, check out all the different projects he's played on and you will want to take back your post, pretty disrespectful to someone of this caliber.

  • you fucking idiot!

  • this is directed towards johnnycchops

  • everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but this guy is one of the best drummers i have seen.

watch his video with chris botti and the boston pops. he is a phenom

  • I basically agree. He kind of has a grating" feel"!!!

hIS PLAYING ALWAYS SEEMS MORE LIKE NOTICE ME. NOT A BAND GUY

  • Kah- Lew- Lesssss is what you be,.Mr StevieDeeDee

  • duz he use double pedal

  • This is the Drum Man!!! I have seen him play many times, and he is soooooo damn good. Thanks for sharing this video.

  • That my friends is why he is the best of all time at jazz drums.

  • And i thought drumming was simple.. i understand rythm, but when i use my guitar playing mind to try and analyze this.. i draw a complete blank.

  • Ok, at 8:12, how the hell does he go against time? I'm trying to figure it out. Can sumone plz explain?

  • yeah....id have to agree. Chris, and Mark were all Amazing....but Billy.....man oh man....he's defintely the sickest drummer I've ever heard. And he gets into it which makes it even better. SICKNESS!

  • How can Dave Holland fire this guy? Nate Smith is insane, but Billy Kilson is literally his own genre of music.

Let me repeat myself, Billy Kilson the drummer plays a different genre than anyone else. His style is a completely new thing. Nobody can do what he does for a band. Best drummer since Buddy Rich.

  • Was he fired? I thought Kilson was playing with other groups, and Dave wanted him to play strictly with him. So, Billy left.

  • Actually, in an interview with drummerworld magazine, Billy said Holland called him up a night before a tour with the big band and told him "Sorry, we're just looking for different sound" and Billy thought he was joking at first. But he wasn't. Dave went with Nate Smith(and now Eric Harland for the sextet). I'm sure Kilson wasn't too heartbroken though. Could you ever be sad with that much groove?

  • Word.

  • Nah, that can't be right....he left the band for this band. Chris Botti is definitely a higher paying gig. That's why he left.

  • Just saw he 2 fridays ago performing a FREE concert here on Long Island and he said he performs with BK Groove 256 days a year. I think hes doing fine.

  • Kewl, I feel that. Yea, I must be trippin' to think BK is a dude about the money. 'ppreciate it!

  • i got the opportunity to see chris live in knoxville Tn back in feb.and bill kilson stole the show..i mean mark whitfield was hilarious but kilson was just on another level his beats are just so.....complex but its the passion and feel for the music he plays with that impressed me the most

  • Oh YEAH!

  • Billy Kilson is a beast!!!!!! Simply put....AWESOME!!!

  • omfg i've come across a lot of jazzers, this is the most creative and amazing one i've ever seen.

  • saw him with Larry Carlton at the Blue Note a few years ago. He kept knocking over the cymbals like at the end of this video. He was mesmerizing, though. A stunning talent.

  • Totally jazzing...

  • Saw Botti and the band last night. Rockin. Kilson nailed it.

  • He has an amazing groove....he just locks right in that pocket!!

  • Saw these guys a while ago. Billy was by far my favorite. He's my favorite drummer hands down.

  • This guy is my new hero, I love it when a drummer plays music instead of impressions during a solo.

  • cool !! I saw Chris Botti at Ronnie Scotts a couple of nights ago. Billy Kilson was drumming. Pretty cool to see a band as tight as a ducks chuff working off eachother in such a cool small venue.

  • the guitarist really IS lost man... I would be too!

  • At what time is he lost?

  • At 6:00 he looses his right stick. But who cares, everybody who ever stood on a stage knows, that things like this ALWAYS happen, even when you're the best musician in the world (Kilson). If no mistake is happening, it's playback!

My favourite drummer, our Billy!!! Respect, Mr. Kilson!!!!!

  • My comment was to the person who claimed that "the guitarist is lost". I simply asked the person to point out where he thinks this occurs in the video.

  • OK sorry for that

  • what is the name of this track ????????

  • actual proof

  • I got to meet Billy last night!!

  • Great vid on youtube called "Bob James Trio - Casino Lights 99". Billy groovin deep with James Genus on bass...

  • love it! Yeah, does nobody happen to know the name of the song? Really would like to purchase some sounds from kilson ...

  • This drummer does more with set of drums than a monkey on steroids could do with a hundred foot vine Exceptional talent...

  • hey whats the name of da song?

  • i do like kilson. i feel that he loses the pulse sometimes. that happens here and there, with holland, hagans, or in his solo albuns. i think that he goes for quite complex figures and sometimes misses the basic quarter note bars... but that is much better than having a great pulse and never risking anything...

  • He internalizes the time so we he feels like he can play with it. He should be able to too, but the guitarist didn't know what was goin on.

  • yeah punish that ride bell!!!!!

  • Craft of the Highest order

    !

  • Hardest groove ive ever heard!

  • CRAZY!!!!!

  • what is the nmae of this song amazing drumming....

  • Ohh..groove with balls..

  • saw billy last night in Santa Barbara - Amazing!

  • Respect 4 Kilson!

  • WOow!!!! THAT WAS SOME SOME SERIOUS GROOVING HERE!!! I CAME WHEN THAT SOLO PART BEGUN!! JUST FABULOUS!

  • Just saw him tonight at the FOX in detroit. Fantastic drummer.

  • Totally awesome!! Chris & Billy make my world spin!

  • Ii this video available on DVD? Or the music on CD?

  • AMAZING!

  • WOW!!! FANTASTIC...can't top that!

  • Billy rocks! I had the fun and privilege of seeing him live in Manchester, opening for Josh Groban.

  • Thats some great drumming!
