  • fossilization refers to endstate learners

the explanation is is different from one approach to another

ican refer yo to Lardiere 1998 with her chinese informant Patty

sorace 1993 with her informants learning italian

    as well Larry Selinker

and there is abook about fossilization in second langauge documenting a number of famous cases of fossilization

  • hey luchon01 well interlanguage n' fossilization r not the same...interlanguage is when an L2 learner makes mistakes while speaking that seem to have no form in their language or the language he's learning like a spanish saying:she name is maria"..while fossilization is when the learner keeps making those mistakes and seem to stop progressing we say that their interlanguage is to have "fossilized"...hope i answered your question :)

  • Oh, good idea! I think I'll do something similar for my students :) thanks

  • Fossilization is a process that might occure within the interlanguage.

  • Thanks. This presentation is designed as a very basic intro for intermediate language students, not linguists, so the content is very simplified.

  • is interlanguage and fossilization the same?
