Animes are just marketing-shots in hunt for TV-viewers. They allways change everything, the studios can't stand the pure hardness of a mangastory. It just makes me sick to my stomach!
@hailenvy (Part 1) Ok, I know you aren't responding to me with that comment (and I completely respect your opinion), but she forced her child to kill small animals (AND PEOPLE), and if (s)he did not comply (s)he was locked in a dark room without food and water for apparently days on end. She forced who child to read disturbing picture books about murdering. She mentally tortured her child (and there's no way you can deny this, look at Crona's reaction everytime she pops up).
@deathcityizlove (part 2) Way I see it, she wanted to make Crona into a kishin to recreate the world with different, better rules so the witches didn't have to live in fear of dying by the DWMA. Sadly, to make that work, she had to act the way she did to Crona. A kishin is made by severing all ties you have with friends and family. After behaving like this, Medusa lets out her true feelings of Crona, which confuses him and leads to her death.
@deathcityizlove (part 3) As for speaking of abandoning Crona, the way I see it, that was Medusa's tactic to piss off Stein and Spirit and therefore bide a little more time for the kishin to be awakened. But like I said, this is only how I see Medusa's intention.
@hailenvy (1) Hmm...I never really thought about Medusa exactly like that before...I think I may be a little bit blinded by how sly, manipulative, and generally cold her character is that I never would've thought she was creating the Kishin to stop the murdering of her people (I know that's just your opinion/idea but I kind of like it, it almost makes her seem a little less evil haha). Though the idea is attractive (and hell, it might even make her a sympathetic character), it still (continued)~
@hailenvy (2) doesn't make her a good mother (in my opinion). Sure, it may justify some if not many of the "horrible" (as Shibusen sees it) things she's done (and it may tuck her into a moral gray area, she was only doing what was best for her and her people after all), but, I believe she failed miserably as a parent. Crona didn't ask for any of that treatment, Crona didn't deserve that sort of neglect and coldness from his own mother. So what if she's trying to change the world? (continued)~
@hailenvy (3) She's doing so at the expense of her own child. I hate to bring Real World examples into this, but it's like Crona's a child brainwashed and bred for war, (s)he's essentially a sacrificial lamb for the execution of Medusa's scheme. She may be trying to change the world (maybe even for the better!), but it comes at the cost of Crona's torment. She set Crona's standards for a guardian so low (s)he didn't even recognize her own mother. So in that respect, I believe she fails as a parent
@deathcityizlove (1) You are not wrong. She most likely has failed as a parent. My only defense to that (however weak it may be) is never once have I heard Crona tell someone that he was abused by Medusa. We know it happened, but its the fact that Crona doesn't want to tell people for fear that Medusa would get in trouble. He knows why she does it... its to 'help' him in a way that normal parenting wouldn't have done.
@deathcityizlove (2) In some ways (though I may be the blind person on this) Medusa shows some motherly intent even before the moment of her death. At Baba Yaga, she stated that she'd never give up Crona. As well, in chapter 69, Tezca sent her a vision of Crona. In a way, I suspect that told her that she was going to die, and by Crona's hand. Despite this, she still strives to make him a kishin.
@deathcityizlove (3) And my final defense to Crona being the one to be a kishin, they say a child's mind and soul are more pure that an adult's. I figure that Medusa trusted Crona with creating a better world over herself. Course as I said, this is how I see it personally. And my defense is rather weak so I'm pretty sure that you or someone else can easily counter this. And I fully agree to Medusa as a grey character. She ain't as evil as most think.
@hailenvy (Part 2) Medusa uses Crona constantly to set her nefarious plots into motion; the snake in Stein is a good example of this. She used Crona as a test subject; replacing his/her blood with black blood and a melted down Ragnarok to reach Kishin-hood. She clearly states in her fight with Stein she was planning on abandoning Crona and that Stein could have him/her if he wanted. Medusa put Crona through many forms of physical and mental torture (some I can't even think of right now).
@hailenvy (Part 3) But I think I know what you're getting at. I believe you mean (and please correct me if I'm wrong) after all that physical and emotional anguish, perhaps she really did love Crona deep down. Maybe that hug in this chapter was the manifestation of how she's felt about Crona this whole time. I think it's quite obvious though, that she was simply excited her plan was coming to fruition, and that she was simply proud of Crona futhering her goals.
@deathcityizlove (part 1) I will not be so bold as to think I know the exact intent of Medusa, or even her feelings toward Crona. I just have a hopfully ladgit idea. The witches are being wiped out by the DWMA. (with Kim as an exception) Medusa doesn't seem like the type of person who's gonna stand by and wait to be murdered simply for being born as a witch.
luigirules2008, what about Ragnarok doesn't seem liek he changed much...I guess he can work with eitehr side personality wise..wait what happened to the Black Clown?...not Tyler Parry the Monster mad from Black Blood and Madness, bad joke I know
Bout time Crona grew some balls. Or boobs. It's impossible to tell. I hope Crona has a spine from now on; I really found the 'I don't know how to deal with it, be obsessed with Maka' Crona to be annoying.
One of the greatest chapters in the manga. Makes me want even more that they make a Soul Eater anime remake just like with Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood :D
@deathcityizlove I'm sorry, but...it just seems so possible, considering it's Medusa we're talking about. I hope she's dead for good, though! If not... OTL
@rikulover9 well the woman was just torn to shreds and nothing but a puddle of blood still talking to Crona so I wouldn't be surprised if she was still arounf and used the Black Blood to combine with her powers
Yep, Medusa got what was coming to her and honestly, i'm kinda glad it was Chrona, even though (s)he went all psychotic there. But i don't think Medusa's dead tho. I mean, she escaped death lots of times so yeah. Even tho i find chrona stabbing her FOR REAL i don't think she'll die. But if she is dead, FINALLY. she had it coming is all i can say.
Why can't this manga movie forward from chapter 94?

Medusa is evil. REAL evil, but bad and evil are not remotely the same thing. In her case its bad and a ridiculous amount of evil.
