  • love it

  • why isn't there music like this anymore?

  • drunk right now. good drunk song

  • The bad guy from MadMax!

  • @mikey777799 Looks like Johnny the boy from Mad Max but that was played by Tim Burns who sadly died in the shocking Victorian bush fires as did the man who played the station attendant when the Toe Cutter goes to pick up Knight Riders body. Reg,can't remember his last name.

  • @childgaia7 Wow he looks just like him. Did he have a twin?

  • @childgaia7 No,he has no twin but they say we all have a lookalike somewhere.

  • 14 dislikes. You are fucking kidding!

  • Paul Kelly is one of Australia's best songwriters......

  • one night the moon :P

  • They got married early, never had no money

Then when he got laid off they really hit the skids

He started up his drinking, then they started fighting

He took it pretty badly, she took both the kids

She said: "I'm not standing by, to watch you slowly die

So watch me walking, out the door, out the door, out the door"

She said, "Shove it, Jack, I'm walking out the fucking door"

  • another song ends bfore its ment to.. such a pain in the ass

  • Sigh if only youtube had a auto replay :(

  • "She said shove it Jack I'm walkin' out your f#ckin' door!"

  • Paul said at one of his performances that he was in a taxi one day. Bogan taxi driver said "Ohh you're that guy! The guy.. Paul Kelly! That's it! Oh you're the guy that sang that song.. what's it called..? At her door!!"

    :P

  • simply remarkable. a true talent!

  • Amazing songwriting. Paul Kelly is a true genius.

  • I love this song!!!

  • This deserves way more likes! However I never knew what the song was called till 2 months ago

  • the buttery...nearly had a visit there meself....lol

  • can someone please upload paul kellys change your mind

  • make me sad

  • paul kelly is a person who can tell the stories from both sides. he sings about real life, and peoples lives. hes a true australian legend in story telling as Banjo patterson, slim dusty.

  • Takes a true man to leave his kids fix a problem and come home clean, nearly makes me cry.

  • Best artist in Australia..brilliant song..and not even his best!!!!

  • Is Paul still married to Mary Jo Starr?

  • @popnjs No, they divorced some time ago.

  • @Treehouseman verse 4 . So now its ten years later, he's working with her brother, bought emselves a big pub down along the coast, and when he wants to see her , meets her in the diner, cuddle and a quick kiss, shovels down a quick roast, they go walkin in the rain, 4 kids think they're insane. as he lifts her , thru THEIR door. Wrote this a few years ago coz sick of the sads. Sorry Paul and all!

  • I love this song! This song reminds me of when my brother was an alcoholic.

  • Love it! I dont suppose you have got and could upload 'Clean this House' could you?

  • I'd like to comment on a previous quote about white aussie policy but man.... I'm too busy being sick... get a grip... but hey... what a record.... Lets ignore the tit and comment on a great man and a great song....

  • @jadeeilleenteresea Racist redneck detected.

  • @jadeeilleenteresea Yeah do you realise how ignorant you sound? Have you heard any other Paul Kelly songs?

If anyone is to learn english, it should be you.

  • @jadeeilleenteresea Ok, maybe you need to listen to From Little Things Big Things Grow, by Kev Carmody and Paul Kelly. The white Australia policy was a horrible and rasist policy. There are reasons for why it was abolished in the 1970's, and it will NEVER return. Multiculturalism is part of our national identity, people should be allowed to keep their original culture while still sharing our beliefs, respecting our rights and obeying our laws. Thats what Australian citizenship is.

  • @10eilis i respect your opinion but i should be able to have mine and from when i was younger Australia just seems to of gone down hill sorry but its just the way i see it.

  • @jadeeilleenteresea that's fine to have your own opinion and im sure many others agree with you. But we brought in immigrants to help the country grow, not in just the economy, but think about the different foods, sport, culture, music, dance etc that immigrants have brought. I think expanding our country in this way has done more good than bad. Also the white australia policy ruined our ties with japan at the time, and it's since majorly improved. So just consider the benefits as well

  • @jadeeilleenteresea to all you cry babies fuck all of you everyone has a right to their opinion so just get over it. It doesn't matter if you agree with me or not I have friends that absolutely disagree with me and we're still friends who cares what i say but it is still my opinion i hate that we are such a multicultural country so suck it!!

  • This song makes me think of my ex and I. We split on somewhat amiable terms, before it got ugly...

But I remain positive, we are back in talks friendly even, even though she is now living in Sydney. Hopefully I can make it to her door. This song inspires me to keep my chin up :)

  • his heart was singing like a low down guitar

  • i really want to learn the piano in this :)

  • Is there a better quality of this somewhere?

  • love this song, he is such a great musician

  • Paul Kelly, Australia's most prolific songwriter. Released 24 years ago, and Paul Kelly is still he same great performer. He has written songs for just about every famous name in Australia, and they usually become hits. Way to go and with great respect for your great abilities, Mr Kelly.

  • This song is totally awesome. What a class act Paul Kelly is...why does the world waste its time with rubbish like "Australian Idol"? Manufactured pop is an insult to geniuses like this man!

  • What album this from?

  • I raped the replay button

  • G D C D G G D C Repeat

  • johnny the boy from mad max :)

  • one of the best songs to learn on guitar.....

  • @motueka1 also one of the easiest

  • @motueka1 One of the best songs fullstop.

  • I love it - what else can I say

  • @58amey u can say die potato...

  • ozi ozi ozi oi oi oi !!!

  • paul kelly is the man. his music means as much today as it did back then.

  • paul kelly best ever

  • Wonderful.

  • paul kelly you rock!

  • Does anyone else have a little moment of internal music combustion when the gretsch and drums kick in on verse 2? And then again on part 2 of the solo (again the gretsch very nice tone). Great song.

  • Great song, they don't make many like this anymore.

  • Haha mad! Tracy Chapman right after Paul Kelly. Awesome stuff

  • Comment removed

  • Great song :)

  • @cummingsbj daaaaaaaaaaaaaam straight

  • heyy every body, can u guys look at my vidio. its off paul kelly to her door. look up klaus lind on youtube :) hope u like.

  • This Paul Kelly is brother for example Paddy Kelly, Angelo Kelly, Patricia Kelly (and so on)???

  • Awesome song

  • @zeppelite I believe that just because a person is publicly known, if they re in the street doing there own thing they should be allowed to do it without being approached by complete strangers. Who knows, he might have been having a really bad day. How would you feel if everytime you walked out the door someone wanted to shake your hand, or say gidday, or sign this please etc. It would drive me insane.

  • more like broncos coach Ivan Henjak!

  • As someone who grew up in Australia and now lives in Britain, it always amazes me that people over here haven't heard of Paul Kelly. He's one of the greatest living songwriters.

  • @theloteb shut the fuck up and stop bitching 4 a few seconds ans just listen to the words

  • @yodasbum You Wanker, I'd like to see you write a masterpiece like this.

  • @yodasbum Who the hell are you? Do you write music? If you do please post it on you tube and I'll critique it for you. I bet you couldn't come close to Paul Kelly's musical talent or his integrity as a man. YOU SUCK.

  • @yodasbum Crap

  • i jiggy jigg

  • paul kelly is probably the best thing to have ever happened to australian folk rock.

    <3

  • "and his heart was singin' on a low down guitar"

  • This song reminds me of a couple my parents knew...awesome song!

  • Awesome Song, Shame Quality is bad

  • WTF i got an error!!!! google chrome and youtube are letting m down :(

  • Cant wait to see him a Splendour in the Grass this year, I have got my tix and just cant wait!!!!!!

  • paul kelly good shit

  • loved paul kelly and the coloured girls.. awsome.. not listen to it for ages...

  • your all missing the point

    i ask

    what is this song about

    ya\ children

  • @theloteb

No offence but you must be deaf to not understand what the song is about!

  • @theloteb listen to the lyrics for about 30 seconds and you might answer your own question.

  • anthem of my life well right up till she takes him back part

  • I'm very disappointed to here that what did he do? I'm a huge fan and for my birthday once my wife wrote off to him asking him to send me a birthday wish, about a week after my birthday I received a note from him apologising for the lateness with a signed shirt by him and Uncle Bill. I was wrapped.

  • I can't believe I wrote "here" instead of "hear", how embarrassing.

  • i cant even describe how amazing paul kelly is

  • Will someone please put the Paul Kelly version of "It Started with a Kiss" on YouTube.

I heard a DJ play it for Hot Chocolate's "Errol", on radio. Errol thought Paul's version was terrific. Which it is.

  • @zeppelite How is he rude?

  • They don't like songs like this anymore, this generation of music is all about crap. No true meaning at all, and it all sounds the same.

  • @ChemicalThor hey mate i'm from the younger generation as in i've just graduated from high school and i happen to love alot of music like this but i also enjoy something that has no meaning just for that reason don't be so sterotypical mate

  • If you find this offensive mate then you need to harden the hell up. People get their knickers in a knot way to easy these days. In 10-20 years time you will see where I am coming from.

  • I also have a younger brother that feels the say way you do, I bust his balls all the time. No harm intended mate

  • @ChemicalThor hey don't worry bout it mate : )

  • No probs at all buddy

  • yer.... you do that

  • The actor in this clip looks like Tim Burns who played 'Johnny the Boy' in Mad Max. Any confirmation on this? I know I'm showing my age.

  • @mishmosh007: it is. I knew Tim when I lived Sydney.

  • Yes you are right and the woman was Paul's wife at the time, she is also an actress.

  • Kairen Farifax would be her name!

  • That's right, or for the connoisseurs I believe she was Dola in Poor Man's Orange. I like how your page automatically plays How To Make Gravy, which just happens to be my fav Paul song, how did you customeise it to do that. If it's a big long process don't worry I'm sure I can figure it out.

  • To be honest, I can't even remember....I think because it was my first and best video I just left it their...I believe it's Paul's best song, how freaking smart if he though.

  • great song by paul

  • great classic aussie rock

  • @FlyingWarrior08 what happened to it mate?

  • things change and society changes, bands ran out of ideas and now its turned into rubbish

  • the buttery is a detox camp in bangalow , northern NSW near byron bay :)

    just so you know

  • Great Aussie pub rock, just cant beat it!!

  • this genre of music is lost, the saddest day in Australian history. Paul Kelly forever.

  • Your correct, though he was Australian this has very American sounds like The Band's music. Telling stories in those wonderful musical ways. Great tunes, good rhythm, good voice, good message.

  • its one of the great things that made paul kelly unique :)

  • @trahcceb How is it lost? I saw Paul play last year in Sydney and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen

  • Saw a brief glimpse of Kelly and the Coloured Girls playing out the back of The Fitzgerald pub in Perth in 1988 when this song was on the radio all the time. The gig was sold out and only viewable for those of us without tickets by climbing up a 10ft wooden fence. Awesome music.

Thanks for the explanation to some of the lyrical references.

  • Nothing beats 80s Oz rock.

  • I saw Paul Kelly and the Coloured Girls at Coogee Bay Hotel in 1991 before Political Correctness took hold. What an awsome show that was.

  • Love it... This an "leaps and Bounds" ... My Fav's!!! Thanks for posting!!!

  • ahh fantastic song. Anyone know what year this was?

  • The greatest australian love stoey ever told..

  • paul kelly is underrated and im sort of happy about that ..he and john williamson know some stuff about our history that the mainstream might never know ..but paul is a poet and a very good one

  • this song is so Australian - every Aussie who has been through rough times can relate to it

  • on ya carl!

  • good one!

  • i rekon now that paul kellys older he looks like a cross between carl barron and that older ambo guy from all saints who agrees

  • hahaha nice!

    Agreed!

  • Carl Barron is the love child of Paul Kelly and Gandhi.

  • FUCK I KNEW IT AYE !

  • @SatansLoveChild88

  • @Jasetoonie Hahaha

  • love this song

  • i love this efffinnnnggggg song

  • best song out

  • I love this song sfm.

  • Fuck You

  • Great song

  • This IS the #1 Aussie song of all time - just ahead of "And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda" by Eric Bogle. The beauty of it is that is a simple song but the lyrics are powerful and combined with

the rest - just awesome. Hope to catch him down under one of these trips but he is usually Up Over, when I am Down Under. So it goes, To His Door anyways.

  • This was Paul Kelly's biggest hit, reaching #14 on the Australian Singles Chart (Kent Music Report 1987 - one year before the ARIA charts began). Great song!
