  • mm It took me ages to get what has happened. But, I am working in the supermarket as a cashier and I think I was about to be scammed or in fact scammed. Tell me please:

Customer took something for £1 and gave me £50 note. I gave him change as 2 £20 notes +£5 note and £4 as coins. Than customer requested to change for £20 for 2 £10. I took £20 and gave him 2 £10.After I remember him asking me to give him his original £50 note which I have not done. I close the till and let him go.

  • This is awesome thanks for uploading this

  • Notice at :42 the cashier has to hand the con a 10 before counting the money. This never happens you always count the money first then hand them the change.

This is a con its a con.

  • This shit happened to me today, some piece of shit mother fucker short changed me $50.

  • i need to know this i just recently started working as a cashier and they were telling about this. but since i got the demonstration and caught the problem [he was gonna be short $10] i think i'll be good. we're not allowed to give change period, but when it comes to someone actually buying something then i'll be careful. i think i understand how this works but i'm gonna keep watching until i get it down perfectly and i'm sure i got it. but whoever thought of this was a genius. it is confusing.

  • its hilarious how obvious it is this tool works for the elite; enjoy your show sheeple :)

  • I got taken in by the shortchange scam once when I was a kid working my first job at a fast food joint. It still pisses me off that they take advantage of young kids at their first job like that. Since then I refused to ever give any change out ever. You give me a $20, I give you change for a $20, period, no requests. Sorry guys, but blame the scammers.

  • Great. I was thinking how could this shortchange scam look smoother. So at 0:51 when cashier says it's 1 dollar short, it would be more effective if you could ask for a 50 dollars saying you got more 10s you need to get rid of : ) then you add 10 dollar bill on that 9 dollars (to look like you are giving him back his 10 dollar bill he gave you), and then give whatever combination of bills you want to make it 50.

  • some whiteman got me like this when i worked for churches chicken

  • woah! I was looking at short changing. I had no idea I clicked on Shwoods video!

  • this rock!

  • Okay, how many people have actually tried this and had it work?

  • so what do you need to fully pull off this scam lemme tell what type of money i think u need AND PLEASE PELASE RESPOND AND CORRECT ME!

You need 9 $1 bills, and $20 bill,?

  • jason from leog!!!

  • this happened to me today. a guy bought $4.47 of erasers and paid with a $100 bill. i counted 95 dollars and handed it to him while counting the change. (the whole time he is talking off topic loudly to me). then he says "wait i'll make it easier", (getting even louder) he hands me $4.47 and asks for the $100 back. i handed him his receipt and he was off. the whole transaction was less than 30 seconds.

  • Why didn't he comb his hair before got on stage?

  • wtf i still dont get it

  • @305barclay

What happens is that the victim says "you're one dollar short", meaning up to ten dollars. The con then says, let's go back again. The victim then gives the con his twenty dollar bill back while the con gives the victim 10 dollars in change.

Try it out yourself, it'll become a lot more clear.

  • It's simple, for example the con artist comes in and buys something for $1 and the con pays with a $20 for example. This transaction is fair. The con then asks for a $10 for $10 one dollar bills. The con puts the $10 in his pocket and only gives her the cashier $9 and says to count it. The cashier notices it is only $9 so then the con says ok here is $1 and let me give you $10 dollars and let me get my original $20 back. The con makes $9 because he spent $1. The con used the till's money twice.

  • I hate dishonest people, and people know when your in a store all alone trying to run a register and watch the whole store and for thieves and drive offs at the gas pumps, people tried like hell to play me, one guy got several dollars in gas one day, he lived in the neighborhood, drove several cars, come in and said he'd promised to pay later, I told him OK, but the next time your out at that pump on my watch, you prepay or no gas.

  • This happened to me when I was 16 working at a gas station. Guy comes in and buys a pack of gum for 26 cents with a 20. I give him his change and then he was like "did I pay with a 20?" I meant to pay with a dollar. trying to pay with a dollar I just gave him and he wants the 20 back. first rule here is to just close the cash register after every transaction, he didnt get me but he got the store up the street for like 60 bucks.

  • i watch again on 6th, now ill understand now.. thanks man..lol

  • "ok watch it one more time and at 0:40 notice he provides 4 dollars of his own to get change for a ten (provides 4 so he will confuse the guy) so then he adds one more dollar to make 10 dollar bills for a "10 dollar bill" which he takes at 0:41...so then the "dollar bills" belong to the guy on the right but does not take them"

  • because of 0:51 the guy on the left still counts it as "HIS" money and only adds two more fives wich apperantly seems like 20... so he askes for his original 20 back at 0:54 and still has the "10 dollar bill"

  • i think this guys barber short changed him...lol

  • lol

  • Now i finnaly understand lol

  • wtf?! he didnt con him! i went over this video like 100 times!

  • yeah he got up 10 bux lol. watch it another 100 times?

  • lets call the person who started with a 20 person 1 and the other person person 2 and go through this is order.

    1. person 1 gave person 2 a 20 for $20 in change (still even)

    2. person 1 gave person 2 $10 in 1s for a 10 (still even)

    3. person 1 gave another 10 dollars to person 2 in exchange for a 20. (person 1 makes $10)

in the last step, he only gives 10 more dollars but he continues counting from the 10 he gave before so he counts it as 20 and asks for a 20 in return.

  • haha BboyRushRock, don't plan on working a till anytime soon then! haha

  • Surely u cant get caught doing this..... if some1 catches u...cant u just act innocent and say u were only getting change? In the description it says u will "go to jail" they have absolutely no proof, its the cashiers fault, they shudnt have given u the 10 in the first place. Some1 reply to this, i wanna know if its possible to actually get in truble. thx

  • Do you ever speak at high schools or do you only do colleges?

  • i learned this already on scam school

  • What is this, a con artist convention?

  • yep, the con con

  • scam school

  • I've been a teller for 4 years and I still don't get it after watching the explaination...

  • after step 1, you give the con artist 10 dollars for his "10" ones.

u then realize theres only 9 ones not 10, so u ask for another one

the con artist then says ill jus take that 20 back (from step 1) but he uses the 10 that u just gave him

so hes only putting in 10 of his own to get 20

  • The 10 dollars in singles was traded for the ten dollar bill, but then the same 10 singles had 2 fives added to it to make 20 bucks total and the guy gave him back the 20 dollar bill. He should have taken the 10 singles away after he traded them for the 10 dollar bill instead of using them twice.

  • He's very entertaining.

  • so the person conning the mark has 39 pounds/dollers to start ooff withis this right or does he have less or more

  • FUCK!!!...Iam slow.I didnt quite keep up.lolbut dont get me wrong I cant read a mother fu..like a fortune cookie statement

  • This was on Scam School.

  • wow he copyed that video of youtube

  • LOL... He was the one that MADE the video on youtube!

  • Thanks for posting, I got scammed a few days ago. This is a GREAT video so you can avoid getting stolen from. Even after explaining it to people, you still have to watch the video to fully understand it.

Thanks again, it's VERY informative and it helped me reflect much more easily on what happened at the store.

  • SONIC BOOOOOOMMMM!!!

  • I can't believe Bart Simpson grew up to be a scam artist.

  • ahahahahahhah thats awesome.

  • @MeanMrMustard55

Really? That totally seems like something Bart would do. LoL

  • whats that guys website were i can buy the book?

  • THis only works if the cashier hands over their money before you hand yours over.

if they count it before they give you the change it doesnt work...

  • i know butt someone vill give u the money before

  • to fix this, just ask for the 10 but dont extend your hand. dont make the gesture to give them the money until you recieve the 10. then, do something that keeps you at the register until they count the money to make sure they notice your mistake.

  • exactly ask then fiddle with ure money look like ure counting etc. or you could learn how to short change people. Videos of real hustle doing it. or you could try the old derren brown givving them messages whilst handing over the money but probabaly short changing or just holiding out is prob easisest n best.

  • personally i think a mixture of your suggestions would insure instant confusion and help you come away with your cash

  • I have to say, I was looking for the short change and even I had to go back and watch it again before picking up on it. That's freakin' brilliant.

  • Very cool. Thanks for posting.
