not bad and pg is the greatest. but didn't that korean kid kind of kill off the whole concept of melodic lead guitar playing with that stupid cliche classical piece? all the who parts are rocking though.
@metallica5252 Im talking about 1:30 to 1:54 maybe it is a flanger but ive had a chorus pedal that if you put the dials on far enough you get tones like that, could be wrong though
this WHOLE song reminds of 2112/the temples of syrix. it blows my mind haha i wouldnt be surprised if he admitted this was in the style of alex lifeson... until the amazing beautiful arpeggios of course =) those are just paul.
i think the dislike bar should work like a tug of war, that way this video would be a nice big green bar, wheras other un mentionables, well, wouldnt :)
For me it wouldn't be that sick (unnatural). If some stupid tiesto who don't know a shit about music played at Olympics then why such an artist named Paul Gilbert couldn't?
The intro reminds me very much of Pete Townsend and the Who's TOMMY album, with dashes of Rush thrown in before Paul goes into his signature arpeggios and incredible speedy and melodic runs and tapping. Great stuff!
@Danje1 Ya theyre three note slash chords up around the 12th fret on B G D strings Em Bm then Aminor c in bass B on top then a G Aminor back to Eminor . Its all in the voicing.
@ibaneziano I saw him playing these Chords. I looked more difficult but thanks, ive gotta try it out :) as you an hear, the bass is dropping straight, i wanna have the base note too. but thanks a billion :)
Great song. Has so many diff. melodies and guitar tones going on....such a craftsman, no throw away chord progressions, he keeps you guessing and coming at you form diff. angles.
i had never heard of paul gilbert until mark tremonti mentioned him on his intructional dvd. i'm glad i discoverd him. tremonti's dvd also introduced me to other great guitarist like michael angelo batio and rusty cooley
I loved it and I think the whole album was great but until about 1:20 it sounded like Paul Gilbert's take on Pinball Wizard by the Who. Sorry PG fans (I'm one myself) but the beginning was just too similar.. but after that it was another masterpiece! Those arpeggios are hypnotically stunning..
@bitchslapper12 Meh. Same chords, but the rhythm is different. That's like saying every song that goes from G - C (Just a random popular chord change) sounds the same. IMO.
@RyanMartinMulcahey you got it man, he is a big pete fan, I seen in an interview he is working on his windmill technique lol paul awesome guy and godly player with the coolest ridiculously expensive guitar
Paulie actually has a lot more similarities with Bach and many other Baroque composers, mixed in with some eighties shred, and a bit of cheddar cheese.
@RyanMartinMulcahey More than pinball wizard. There are sections from the whole opening overture movement from Tommy, which that part of PBW is included. BUT in fairness Paul playing in the "Amazing Journey" -The Who tribute band obviously had and influence on his recent work.
rock n rolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll FUCKING AWESOME !!!
My favourite from the album. Started out thinking it was a bit odd, but it's really grown on me. I especially like the intro melody, and how it comes back in at 1:17. Paul you sure write some nice tunes.
@bgainesDM I really hope he does put one out. I have almost all of Paul's instructional videos and he is an amazing teacher. He's almost as good at teaching as he is actually playing. Plus i love PG solo albums the covers are just as cool as the music.... well maybe not that cool
My favourite from this new record so far. 0:00-1:30 reminds me of 70´s style Queen, the chords from 1:30-2:00 are really dreamy and sweet, perfect bridge to the main riff at 2:00. Actually a pretty easy riff, but a musican like Paul is able to do such a thrilling song out of this simple idea...
His sound from his gear and the tone from his hands are fantastic, makes me smile and feel like on drugs while first listening to it, can´t believe he´s getting even better from year to year!
Don't get me wrong, I loved the entire song, but my favourite parts were the arpeggiated section from 2:34 to 2:58, the solo bit from 3:40 to 3:53 and the arpeggios and tapping from 5:18 to 5:30. Great song, great man.
Damn.. i gotta start using my airplane flanger some more.. He gets such a sick tone using it!
