Dennis in my mind is not given enough credit for his talents...he was way more than just the drummer...he was a great multi-instrumentalist and song writer...may he RIP...
There is a dark feeling about the atmosphere of this song, and I really feel that someone was jealous of him-someone close to him, and this person was working against him and the older brother. I don't know the family, but I feel this and finally got the chance to say it. Someone should have helped him because abusing the body is wrong. This is why praying works and trusting in God is a good thing. I think the song is beautiful.
Dennis held the band together with his great druming and singing , I used to work at a place where in Santa Barbara, California where Dennis , Mike Love, and Jan and Dean used to hang out
DW was my friend & 'brother-in-spirit' for over 20 years. I was truy blessed to know him. I was with him when he was working on Pacific Ocean Blue. When I hear this song--wonderful memories flow over me as if he is whispering to me that he's okay. He's found his peace. I've been to BW shows where I can feel CW & DW's presence watching over their older brother & encouraging him on. Few folks had the God-given gift of knowing DW--the real DW--not the mythical one. Wish you had known him, too.
@thevoiceoftheBBs I never met him except through his words and music. I have no blindness when it comes to his mistakes, but seriously no one is perfect. I feel I know him better than alot of people who had the honor of actually breathing the same air as he did. I am not making a personal attack against you trust me on that. I just know how to look inside someone and see the real person. I've shared his pain and his tears. I carry his torch onward in his sted.
This song (and performance) should have been much better known among people. Songs like these proof that the Beach Boys were much more than just Surf songs with only Pet Sounds as an artistic outburst.
As much as I love Brian, all other Beach Boys were able to write and compose amazing songs.
Btw, I never liked the ending of this song. It's too much of a clash with the tender, timid first part of the song.
Sweet Dennis. Thank you for your contribution to the band so we got a tiny chance to get to you know you. This remains a favorite and always makes me cry.
When I bought the Legacy edition of Pacific Ocean Blue/Bambu (of Dennis Wilson), at first I refused to believe it wasn't heavily the production of his brother Brian. As I realized the scope of Dennis' own musical gifts, I was embarrassed and ashamed I had deliberately avoided his contributions along the way. Admittedly, my revulsion of his lifestyle (the reckless womanizing in particular) prejudiced my hearing! I cry when I think of the unrealized talent of this man!!
@iggyistheman Brian, Mike and Carl were the voices of The Beach Boys. Almost all well known songs were sung by them. All three of them have/had a signature sound (don't mistake this with talent or quality).
Dennis sung lead on very few songs just like Alan (despite being a great guy and a good writer).
Brian on stage absence had been filled in perfectly by Carl for years. So with Carl gone, there was no original Beach Boy left to do Carl's AND Brian's part.
@sgtBilko75 thats why Jeff Foskett and Matthew Jardine are key parts of the Beach Boys. they both can at least bring a shadowy part of Brian and Carl to the music we all know and love.
@FuckingStanz>> "Forever" is the title of a song written by Dennis Wilson and his close friend Gregg Jakobson. It was released in 1970 as the ninth track on The Beach Boys' Sunflower album and features Dennis on lead vocals. The song, along with the rest of the album was produced by The Beach Boys. Brian Wilson declared, "Forever has to be the most harmonically beautiful thing I've ever heard. It's a rock and roll prayer." John Stamos sang the song on 2 occasions on episodes of Full House.
@Erix7810 Dennis wrote this. He was an untapped wealth of talent. It is just too bad he had all kinds of problems that seemed to keep his creative side supressed
"Dennis was probably more musically with it than me or any of other guys in the whole band; he was one of the best singers and he wrote really good music... I never dreamed, when I used to know him as a kid when we were brothers, I never dreamed he would grow up to be a great person in music...He wrote FOREVER, he wrote SAN MIGUEL...He wrote some wonderful songs." (Brian Wilson, 2007)
@theunsheep too bad that (just like Brian) he wasn't able to fight his inner demons and fears, and choose to let drugs lead him. The bizarre things is that this insanity were their driving forces behind their creativity.
This is by far my favorite song of the Beach Boys besides their version of California Dreaming and I Get Around. Dennis had such an amazing voice and so much talent, but was pushed to the side and thought talentless by everyone else (except maybe Carl). I like John Stamon and Carnie Wilson's versions too but this one gives me chills everytime. This will definately be a song played at my own wedding when the time comes. RIP Dennis Wilson. you will live on Forever
That is a great piece of film. Dennis Wilson was a troubled soul, like his brother Brian. Carl also had his troubles. The Wilson brothers created harmonies that are wonderful. How much of the rest of that concert is available?
2 dislikes? What a pair of fucking retards

Dennis wrote this song by himself with the help of no one else. Everyone needs to stop giving brian so much credit, he wasn't the only beach boy.
