  • An extraordinary voice that has never achieved widespread fame in the opera world. Why on earth?

  • @Aetion

In Italy he was widely famous and recognized. However, he wasn't very handsome and the international opera scene was already dominated by the tenors who'd later be known as the three tenors.

  • @Honken Well, the outlooks matter as well, but the voice is the main factor in the opera. Giacomini had a long and brilliant career also outside Italy. Therefore, I cannot understand why he is not referred to as one of the most important dramatic tenors of the last century. Your point of the three tenors is true.

  • @Aetion

Neither do I, in my opinion he's the best dramatico that's been recorded. Not only was did he have a beautiful timbre, he could also string phrases together and make them incredibly musical; something that most dramatic tenors are unable to do.

  • @Honken Yes, I do agree.

  • wow 62 year old olivero with giacomini

  • less baritonal, but still baritonal nonetheless. And I think its just fantastic.

  • Giacomini - Protti - Olivero : un cast veramente eccezionale !

  • At this early stage in his career, the voice is markedly less baritonal than in the final years, and has a very nice ring.

    As always,his performance is outstanding!!!

  • Brilliant - love his voice in this piece! Great phrasing and delivery.
